Our lovely mouseface usually starts these threads but I've just noticed that the previous one is almost full, so I'm facing technology and get the next one set up.

Anyone, absolutely anyone, who feels they have a problem with drink is welcome here. Whether you're trying to stop, or cut down a little, whether you've been sober for years, or even if you're too scared even to contemplate what is happening. If you think it will help you to post, or lurk, then please do.

There's often a lot of nonsense and banter, but lots of good sound advice.

And there is always lots of support and care and no judgement.

This is the link to the previous thread, if you want to read what's been going on so far The Previous Thread

And this is the link to JesusWhatNext 's original thread started 6 years ago The Original Thread

Hi sorry I haven't been around or been much use lately.
Still trying to deal with and get my head around my DM s illness.
She goes into hospital next week for her operation and
that is when the fun and games begin. I can see my whole summer being swallowed up.
On a brighter note my therapist absolutely nailed my DM s narcissistic behaviour and had me roaring with laughter. It was so nice to be able to say out loud I know she is very ill but ............
Well done ma fingers crossed for you.
Isinde nice to see you posting again.
Elba great news you are going to be a fairy godmotherGrin
Sending positive vibes to everyone else sorry I can't NC everyone there are just so damn many of us Grin

Thabks isinde, I'll give that a go :) £££

ClaretAndBlue30 · 28/04/2016 16:22

Wow isinde 11000 calories!!! That's amazing. I find my app keeps me quite motivated, I like to see my little teacups (read, dry days!) tot up on the calendar Smile will I use the dry January app - its great.

sober glad you felt some good came out of the counselling session. Hopefully that'll help you in the coming months?

How's everyone doing today?

ClaretAndBlue30 · 28/04/2016 16:24

And isinde I feel a fancy massage calling me Smile, perhaps if I have a mostly af May I could have two Smile

Fairenuff · 28/04/2016 16:30

Isinde I'm so glad to hear that you have a no nonsense friend in your corner. Yes, it's easy to just keep drinking and not face up to those difficult emotions but eventually they are going to get to you. Or else what's the alternative? You stay drunk from one day to the next until you're too ill or poor to keep doing it?

Good to hear the AA trip went well too. Gerald is awash with lots of new babes, your ticket machine will be smoking hot (and no, ma, that's not a euphemism). The sidecar is scooping up a lot of people who are really struggling to get past day 1, 2, 3 or more but the bus also has loads of 'AFers' or 'moderaters' who are clocking up the hours, days, weeks, months. S'all good in the hood Grin

laladidah · 28/04/2016 16:42

Hi babes. How are you all? Busy day at work here, made tough by feeling a bit rough all day. I didn't even drink that much last night, but still - it's too much Sad next week I am determined I shall do my AF from mon to fri. This week is a write off. Very cross with self. Going to try to limit my intake this Eve and try not to drink tomorrow eve so u don't waste yet another weekend. Guess I am relegated to the side car for now...

Bit cold and miserable here bit like me but just had a play in the garden with pup, she does make me laugh!

Can't name check as on phone and it's a pita. Hope everyone is ok. Off out for a ride, hopefully that will blow the cobwebs away.

I like the idea of the app. Will download it over the weekend to inspire me!

Love to all.

dementedma · 28/04/2016 19:39

Hey indie you're doing well babe.
I have spent the day soldier ogling. Had 25 year old slim and gorgeous dd1 with me so she got return ogles and lots of banter from hunky chaps in camos, while I just got to ogle.
Well, the philanthropy people have now come back and also want to meet me in London. Two smoking hot meetings with serious money and my future at stake. No pressure.
I need a smart work dress type thingy, not expensive which will make me looks less butch and more professional. Not frilly or floaty. Ideally I want slimming, striking and fabulous....

laladidah · 28/04/2016 19:50

Oooh ma, I have just the dress for you!!! It's from river island, and is lush. I got mine a few months back though. It's got capped sleeves and had a ruched front and whilst it is clingy, it is forgiving... And is also a sensible length. I had a look at the website, and I can only see it in plus sizes now but might be the sort of thing you might be looking for, with a blazer?

www.riverisland.com/women/dresses/bodycon-dresses/ri-plus-green-ruched-bodycon-dress-683756

In other news, my horse decided that she didn't like the wind and the rain, and bolted, and bucked her way down the long side of the school. It took brute strength to stop her. And I ended up on her neck. Still shaking a bit now just thinking how nasty it could have been. She has thrown me into fences before, broken my tooth and my riding hat etc. Bloody middle class problems Eh?

laladidah · 28/04/2016 19:54

Ok so dress doesn't look great in the pics, but it is demure with a hint of coolness (so I like to think, although I may be seriously deluded). Is that the sort of thing you might want? Like I said, I wear mine to work all the time, with a blazer and flats, and it always cheers me up if I am wearing it need to get out more

laladidah · 28/04/2016 19:56

This is mine. I found it - yay! Although saddened as I paid full price.

ClaretAndBlue30 · 28/04/2016 20:01

ouch lala that sounds like it could have been nasty! I've only recently had an operation on my foot to rectify damage a horse caused to it over 20 yrs ago so can sympathise with you - they are ever so lovely but they can be unpredictable!

ma all sounds very positive! How about Next? They do nice, slick but professional looking dresses?

I've had my dinner, now settled down for an evening of tv and online jigsaws. Crazy life me.

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:09

claret she is normally lovely, and she hasn't done that in over a year. But she is half thoroughbred, so when she takes off, she takes off... IYSWIM. And it's bloody terrifying. Just pleased that I stayed on. I did get off for a bit and walked her round, then got back on again for a bit (hard when you are shaking like a leaf). How did you get for horse injury? She has landed me in a&e more times than I care to remember.

Never been so embarrassed as when I turned up trailing blood from a massive gash on my hand and the 'cause of injury' was my horse bit me... Blush

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:09

Your, not get

dementedma · 28/04/2016 20:26

lala those dresses are perfect. Just what I am looking for but they don't have my size. Am 14/16 depending on cut and have a gut! I would wear a blazer or jacket over it. Any more ideas?

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:29

Annoying, ma. It's a great dress and always makes me feel good wearing it... I shall look into it...

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:31

Actually spotted another one... Hang on, will try and get the link! waiting for hair to dry, happy to help put other babes who might need styling-

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:37

Ok ma hang fire... I've seen a few similar....
www.riverisland.com/women/dresses/summer-dresses/khaki-pleated-asymmetric-hem-dress-685558

www.riverisland.com/women/dresses/midi-dresses/dark-green-d-ring-wrap-midi-dress-682993

And I saw one similar to the one I have... Hang on, might take me a minute or two to find the link...

Ps I hope I am being helpful, if I am not town please feel free to tell me to bugger odd

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:42

Right. They have the dress in 'coral' in your size... Perhaps if you have a black blazer and black pumps it would work???

I am def buying it anyway-

Here is the link:

dementedma · 28/04/2016 20:43

Thanks lala. I don't like the asymmetric hem one but like the others. I'm 52 and not very "feminine" looking - IE don't do frills or high heels, have short, spiky hair - so am comfortable in sharp, smart and professional. Am also a bit tubby!

dementedma · 28/04/2016 20:45

Love it *lala"......but have purple hair! Colour clash?

laladidah · 28/04/2016 20:48

No I realise it looks like a hessian sack... Just checked and the dress is still available in your size in black??? I have just ordered the coral one Blush I would just like to point out that I don't work for river island!!! Just really love the dress. And I think maybe if you got the black one, perhaps with a different coloured blazer that might look quite smart? Or the 'coral' one with a dark blazer, dark tights and dark shoes? I have come over all gok wan... It really is a nice dress. Smart enough to do the job yet not overly dressy. One thing I would say is that it can ride up a bit. But my job is quite active and that's inevitable
