Trolls

Throwingshade · 10/01/2016 17:07

I know there was a thread about this just a couple of weeks, but just want to remind us all to think before investing time and emotion - and most importantly personal information and experiences - on threads in Relationships. Especially if it's something triggering for you.

This board is being infiltrated by trolls at the moment.

If the OP is over egged, if the OP is too 'bad' to be true, if it reads like a soap opera with convenient updates every couple of hours to keep people entertained, then it's likely not true!

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 11/01/2016 22:14

never heard of her/him

classy namechanger, then

< yawn >

Thought I knew who, but they are still here.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 11/01/2016 22:15

I know!

That was the clincher for me.

She'said probably reading this now.

Hi Blue!

HumboldtFog · 11/01/2016 22:15

I often suspect it's a male poster pretending to be a woman if a post is about sex and it's written in a particularly coy manner.
There are some men my age, (middle) and older, who still think that women are 'ladies' with sensitive ears and dispositions and they tailor their language accordingly.

firesidechat · 11/01/2016 22:16

That's who I thought it was, but I could search their posts.

firesidechat · 11/01/2016 22:19

So banned, but not deleted. Great, trolldar still working then, although it wasn't difficult.

Trolldar fully functioning there fireside.

And her going on about me patting myself on the back for being onto her.

Well, derr.

HumboldtFog · 11/01/2016 22:21

It took HQ long enough to get shut of that one!

Lovely I've name changed since the hack, but we had such a laugh on that thread, it inspired me to read Jilly Cooper again. Rivals definitely better than Riders Grin

goodnightdarthvader1 · 11/01/2016 22:22

Thank god, Blue was really pissing me off. Clearly had an attitude, IMO.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 11/01/2016 22:23

Indeed, usual, I was just thinking the same.

Anyone who bleats about 'we don't get trolls here!'. Why do that, when we blatantly bloody do, unless you're up to no good yourself?

Well, now she knows 5 people who've been banned from here. By which I mean she's now been banned 5 times because she must have been referring to herself.

M48294Y · 11/01/2016 22:23

Oh, so they finally did something about Blue14? Good, sick of pressing the button about that one.

firesidechat · 11/01/2016 22:26

The big give away was her/him personally knowing 4 genuine posters who had been deleted as trolls by mistake. I only know one other person on here and she's my daughter. I go out of my way not to know her user name though.

firesidechat · 11/01/2016 22:29

I be she/he comes back though. Too hard to resist for inadequates like them.

GruntledOne · 11/01/2016 22:29

The wicked stepmother turned out to be a reverse rather than a troll.

firesidechat · 11/01/2016 22:31

I'm not quite buying the reverse explanation of that one either. It read like a straightforward troll.

I'm not entirely sold either. Her personality totally changed.

sije · 11/01/2016 23:36

My old dad had a saying, "Believe nothing you hear, half of what you see, and you won't go far wrong".

It's like he knew the internet was coming.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 12/01/2016 04:03

There is a regular well respected poster on the board. If she hasn't posted in the first few pages then I think she knows it's a troll. I don't invest in the thread until I see her comment.

That was my final acid test when looking for (let's face it, unnecessary) confirmation of my suspicions on the controlling wife thread. Grin

That poster repeatedly tells posters not to read anything into her not posting on a thread because it could just mean she is busy.

There was a thread yesterday about someone's neighbours ..the OP was like benefit bashing bingo...was it deleted?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/01/2016 06:52

It's quite hard though to tell , if the troll is good.

There's one just now which could well be a troll, but equally I know two women the same situation has happened to IRL

I name changed once to post about a relationship issue and people thought I was a troll. It was hideous. I was called all sorts by people, even abusive to my child, while people.laughed as I said I was upset.

Trolls are dangerous for that reason and also obviously they suck nice people in to sharing painful memories and probably trigger them too.
