Trolls

I know there was a thread about this just a couple of weeks, but just want to remind us all to think before investing time and emotion - and most importantly personal information and experiences - on threads in Relationships. Especially if it's something triggering for you.

This board is being infiltrated by trolls at the moment.

If the OP is over egged, if the OP is too 'bad' to be true, if it reads like a soap opera with convenient updates every couple of hours to keep people entertained, then it's likely not true!

OP posts:

posters
and experience not experiment

Throwingshade · 13/01/2016 07:26

What happened to the latest 'young man looking for advice'?

I reported and got a message saying they had no reason to believe he wasn't who he said he was but I can't find the thread....might be my old, tired eyes though.

(SB one not the one about finding a 'girl')

It's still there, throwing.

pocketsaviour · 13/01/2016 08:36

I am so out of touch with pop culture that when I saw "CBB" I took it to be CeeBeebies Blush

MoominPie22 · 13/01/2016 09:34

Throwingshade · 13/01/2016 09:44

Read this with interest, im not 'one of you'...how long is it before a newbie becomes 'one of us'....seems odd that theres a divide. I cant tell a troll from a 'normal person', how can you prove it, i only stick to a couple of the forums, so perhaps i havent seen many. I dont read any of the threads to do with bereavement and baby/prem etc so thats another reason. I think some threads are elaborated, but who am i to call someone out on it as it may give advice to someone who is actually in that situation. The stepmother one was a reverse....but there are stepmothers and even real mothers like that. Anyway hopefully i will become an expert on spotting trolls/reverses/men the longer i use this site

DiscoMoo · 13/01/2016 17:55

Where I'm from (Wales) moron means 'carrot' [helpful]

SymphonyofShadows · 13/01/2016 18:05

I've been here for years but I name change regularly, when I feel I've made myself identifiable, so I'm never 'one of you'. I dereg'd after penis beaker because someone in RL spotted me.

Lweji · 13/01/2016 19:19

Can't people tell who's one of us as much as they can tell who's a troll?

It's the way you write and feel comfortable here.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 13/01/2016 19:30

I've advanced searched a few goady buggers today and found a definite pattern to posting history which tallies with what I've found with suspicious posters in the past who turned out to be trolls and/or PBPs.

I'm not going to post my findings on this thread though because it will just make them change things in the future.

Maybe I'm jaded and cynical now but this place does seem to be full of trolls and goady twats lately.

And people who never post anywhere outside AIBU and see it as their own personal space to be a cunt to as many people as possible.

PandoNoPants · 13/01/2016 23:14

I'm rubbish at spotting trolls. I don't usually go outside of here/aibu/chat but the one that sucked me in (ages ago in aibu) was 'Liftzilla'. Couldn't believe it was a troll thread!

I very (naively/stupidly) thought people wouldn't do it...especially in Bereavement etc.

Just watched this short vid. Interesting and definately pertinent on this site I think!

Lweji · 20/01/2016 11:50

I'm constantly Advanced Searching these days.

And my raised eyebrow may end up stuck to the top of my head.

Annarose2014 · 20/01/2016 11:57

Baby name trolls?? Are they starting threads about names or being goady fuckers in threads?

Mind you, that Va-gina one must have been a troll. Right?! (good god that cant have been real...)

Am deeply suspicious threads which update quickly. Thats really my only barometer cos I'm a bit "troll thick".

Lweji · 20/01/2016 11:58

Not necessarily Trolls.
Some MNetters post threads just for fun. Even under new names.

Va-gina in particular would seem like one of those.

The Therian wolf too.

Throwingshade · 26/01/2016 07:20

So another one last night but their other thread still standing despite HQ saying they are now banned!

I actually didn't think that one was a troll I have to admit until the werewolf pictures which scared the shit out of me Grin

OP posts:
firesidechat · 26/01/2016 07:44

There were werewolf pictures? How on earth did that happen?

I was on that one, I think and missed those.

Jux · 26/01/2016 08:41

I missed werewolf pics? That's seriously unfair

firesidechat · 26/01/2016 08:48

What was the context of werewolf pictures? I'm trying to imagine a connection and failing.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/01/2016 08:51

Ah I've just seen that the one I reported yesterday and openly challenged on has gone. I'm glad. It's just so bloody tedious isn't it?

JohnLuther · 26/01/2016 09:02

He didn't look like a werewolf as such I don't think, just loads of hair and sideburns.

Throwingshade · 26/01/2016 09:10

I am being flippant but a man suddenly posted a picture of himself to prove he was real and, without being too unkind, it was a pretty sinister picture! Then another poster posted a picture of a werewolf further down.

OP posts:
Lweji · 26/01/2016 09:57

We've had a woman posting pictures of herself to prove she was real. She did look angry. I think she's a regular, though.

Which thread was the werewolf on? Not the therian wolf? I thought I had that on TIO.
