Anyone forgiven a cheater?

Just as the title says....has anyone taken back a cheating DH and how did it pan out?

I know it's an old thread.

But forgiveness is for you to heal. Not the cheater.

My husband had an emotional affair with a girl from work.
We went through I really really rough patch with major work stress from both of us. He started talking to this girl as a friend, he said she knew how to listen to him. I know I was not available at the time to listen to his stress, due to my own stress that I was not coping well with. He had made his mind up to divorce me and kissed this girl a few times.
We are currently trying to figure out if we still want to be together or not. 4 months ago he told me he wanted a divorce. It was a few weeks later that I discovered the EA.
I moved out for a month with the kids, now its 3 weeks that we have been living together.
He says the EA is over, that it sort of just dwindled down. I want to believe him, but its difficult. He also is still undecided if we will continue the marriage and therefore is not 100% in to make eveyrthing better between us.
We are going to counceling, we are being nice to eachother. It is nice living together for the kids, since we both work full time at demanding jobs.

I dont know how this all will end. I feel like I can forgive the EA since I can understand why it happened.
Another thing is if I can let go of all the hurt and eveyrthing that has happened in the last 4 months, and in the time before he first said he wants a divorce...
