It is pathetic! I am 35 and behaving like a 14 year old!
Right, I am being really stupid, and I need some help.
I have been single for three years, after dh left me for a woman from his work, and haven't really been interested in relationships since then. I have had one night stands and was seeing somebody briefly, but in short - I am really out of practice!
Anyway, Sunday night I ended up having drinks with a guy I know. He is a friend of friend, and we have hung out lots but our mutual friend has always been there, so these were our first drinks alone. They were unplanned - we bumped into each other.
Anyhow, we had a great time, stayed up til 5am laughing and being silly and ended up fooling around.
He left in the morning, and we said we would see each other Saturday - at a party that we were already both going to.
This is the daft bit - he has left his sunglasses here. I have asked our mutual friend for his number so i can text him to say I Have his sunglasses.
I was just going to say 'hi, I've got your glasses I will bring them saturday, ,but you can get them before if you want'
My friend thinks I should be more flirty, and acknowledge the other night and be suggestive about Saturday.
So - how should I text him?

Your friend is wrong.
You should be you.
You should ALWAYS be you!
I like your message - it totally opens up the opportunity for him to see you sooner.

FWIW I'd personally send a photo of me dangling them from my finger, eyebrow raised, hip jutting, nice outfit with the messages "oldest trick in the book, leaving something behind. Busted! When you collecting?"

But what is comfortable for one person isn't for another.

You already know he fancied you. You don't know if he wants to take it further. But flirting isn't needed now.

Just be yourself!

heyday · 26/08/2015 15:27

I think your text is fine.....don't forget to add a couple of kisses at the end. See how Saturday goes before you give too much away.

Cabrinha · 26/08/2015 15:33

See, and that's where we're all different Grin
For me: kisses are for a boyfriend only, not someone I've just had a quick snog with.

FuckOffHacker · 26/08/2015 15:36

I would give one kiss at the end of the message. Grin 2 kisses when you get together, but I send kisses to guy-pals too so Confused

heyday · 26/08/2015 15:36

I send kisses to everyone.....young, old, male, female
Yes, we are all different, and see the world from totally different perpectives.

Cabrinha · 26/08/2015 15:39

My kisses are quite specific, different numbers mean different things.
Of course this follows arcane rules known only to me, so it's completely wasted Grin

A single kiss from me (to a boyfriend) is far more intimate than a 'xxx'.

But he has no idea of that!

Just send your text! And good luck!

xxx Grin

Robotgirl · 26/08/2015 15:39

Your message is good. Definitely be yourself. Bet he left his sunglasses on purpose.... Wink

tribpot · 26/08/2015 15:45

Your message is much better - think Monica in Friends "I'm breezy" - you don't want to overdo things. The only thing I might add to your message is 'it was great to see you last Sunday' at the beginning.

And I personally would NOT do any kisses but everyone is very different in this regard, as you can tell from this thread! I've got school gate acquaintances who put kisses at the end of every text and very close friends who would never DREAM of putting kisses on a text to a friend. As you can't possibly know his texting style I would play it safe and not put any on.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/08/2015 15:50

If I only put two kisses on a text my BF would immediately ringto see what was up!

Yes, your text is great...send it and let us all know how it goes

Smilingforth · 26/08/2015 15:58

Please send and tell us how it goes!

ClaraBean · 26/08/2015 16:10

Thanks all!
I have taken a photo of a teddy bear wearing his glasses (as he was putting them on the bear the other night. I have just said 'it was great to see you the other night. As you can see, I still have your sunglasses'
It is not really my style at all to act like I care too much, so this is a good compromise for me. I wouldn't want him to think I really liked him or anything (probably why I have been single for so long!)
And no kisses were added, I will let you know how it goes.

If you didn't want him to think you liked him, you should have kept your knickers on last night! Shock

Grin OK, maybe fooling around just means a snog Wink

Horse has bolted on him knowing you fancy him though!

So... good luck!

Smilingforth · 26/08/2015 16:59

Yes - we are all on tenterhooks

Good luck

loopylou6 · 26/08/2015 17:06

FuckOffHacker · 26/08/2015 17:08

beardsrock · 26/08/2015 17:17

Oh my god this thread is just what i need!

Clarabean, updates please!

MrsPCR · 26/08/2015 17:21

Coming along for the ride!

Good luck!

Snapespeare · 26/08/2015 17:26

I wouldn't have sent a text at all, just brought the sunglasses when you see him next. He didn't give you his number, did he? Getting it from a friend looks stalkery and taking a photo of a teddy bear with his sunglasses on is twee.

(Sorry!)

beaglesaresweet · 26/08/2015 17:51

imo it's a bit strange that he didn't take your number or left his. So I agree with Snape, just bring them on Sat, see how he acts then.

beaglesaresweet · 26/08/2015 17:52

oh sorry, you've already texted - in any case, good luck!

GaryBaldy · 26/08/2015 17:56
