The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Soaking Up The Warm Sunshine, Instead Of The Warm White Wine!

Hi, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

A place for pouring out your heart without being judged, mostly because a lot of us have been exactly where you are right now, or somewhere similar.

We've been around for a while, so there's not much that we've not seen..... or heard.... or been through ourselves. Sad

Some of the Babes are newer to the Bus, some of the Babes have been here on dear old "Gerald" (The name this Bus was given by one of the Babes, I forget who now!I suspect IsinDe or Silver) for a little while longer!

EVERYONE is welcome here. Drinkers, those who are complete non drinkers, and those who are somewhere in the middle of all of the above. :)

Some Babes are in control of their drinking, some not so much. It's dreadfully hard some days, days when there is nothing going around your head except thinking that you MUST have a drink and you sit there trying to work out when, what time you can have that first mouthful of ice cold poison.

Whatever your goal here, or why you're here, we'll all help you along the way, YOUR WAY.

There will be one of us on here that can relate to your life story as if it were a mirror they were looking at, someone to hold your hand if you want it, catch you if you fall, which you may or may not. Positive thinking, just One Day At A Time.

No one Babe is better than any other, we've all been addicts. We've all suffered, yes some more than others but it's not a competition (and no-one gets turned away) but if you rack up shed loads of sober days, you will be a winner on the thread!! Grin

So, if you want somewhere safe to sit and enjoy the warming summer sun, come find a seat, have a chat or just sit and listen to the rest of us yakking on!! Grin

Nice to meet you :) all.

Also, here is the latest thread -

THE LATEST THREAD WE'VE SHARED OUR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES ON

And this is the very first thread -

AND THIS THREAD, THIS THREAD IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THE JOURNEY STARTED, AND HAS SINCE EVOLVED OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS

Hope to chat soon, Mousey x

Morning babes ,

joey morning babe, you sound in great form, glad you and dick are getting along, every woman needs a dick in their life xxxx

nomore I typed you a mega post and lost it so for now it's a huge welcome and well done for posting xxx.

dementedma · 18/07/2015 16:27

I have spent the whole afternoon sprawled on the sofa reading and have devoured an entire book from cover to cover. The Murder Bag by Tony Parsons. Very good. Talk about a lazy day!

venusandmars · 18/07/2015 19:56

ma that sounds like just what was needed - a good rest and some lovely relaxation. I am glad you did it Smile

I have to admit that I am scared to post anything to joey in case her alter ego steals its way into my computer and then through the keyboard and into my fingers, and I too will be talking like a 'dick'. Hmm, maybe that is what happens to men who spend too much time on their PS4...

nomore well done for making the first brave step, it is so scary to actually write it down in back and white.....

Nomoreshame · 18/07/2015 20:47

Hi all Well I think safe for today. I'm still hungover from last night so I don't have much of an urge to drink - though if I'm honest if I had wine in the house I would usually have a glass to take the edge off.
Venus you're so right about it being scary when you put it down in black and white. I feel that I've kind of let the cat out of the bag and I can't undo that. It's partly a relief, partly very scary. And I have this very persistent voice in the back of my head saying it's not that bad, you're along a fuss about nothing. But I'm not really, I know this really isn't healthy. Sorry to be so self-obsessed! I won't always be!

Nomoreshame · 18/07/2015 20:48

Making a fuss not along!

dementedma · 18/07/2015 20:53

Well done nomore
I'm about a bottle in as usual!

Nomoreshame · 18/07/2015 20:58

Well that was me last night and then some! My head's still thumping..

aliasjoey · 18/07/2015 23:30

Flaming in-laws Angry what a shit evening

Is it wrong to be wondering why FIL isnt dead of lung cancer yet, considering the amount he smokes?

Or indeed, why someone hasn't just thumped him...

aliasjoey · 19/07/2015 01:05

Cant sleep. Luckily DH ignored me when I said needed a drink, he knows that unless I actually say "stop at the shop, I want to buy wine" then the craving will pass.

Well, sort of...! If there was wine here now I would drink it! Instead am lying here awake and going over this evening. DH and I have decided that in a room full of his family and mine, that he and I are the only sane ones. Why are they all so determined to take offence, speak their minds?

What is this frigging game of one upmanship about - who is the better grandparent? Why can't people just assume good faith?

amiok · 19/07/2015 07:54

Please please help me. I've hit rock bottom with alcohol. Last night I got hammered on my own, fell over and cut my chin open so badly it's still bleeding and really hurt my arm. I don't know why I do this but enough, I'm stopping. Please help me make it through today.

dementedma · 19/07/2015 08:22

joey ignore them. Saw a great thing on FB which said "I will not let people walk through my mind with their dirty feet". This.

amiok firstly, how are the injuries? Have you been able to treat the cut properly and if arm is swollen and sore, off to A and E for an x-ray. While there look for leaflets about your local alcohol support groups. You are welcome on this bus where there is only kindness, no judging and the occasional slap round the chops with a wet squid when needed. Tell us a little about yourself.
Sundays are generally quiet on here but I'm sure some of the other babes will be along. Drink lots of water today and make sure you have soft drinks/sweets in for tonight

amiok · 19/07/2015 09:56

Thank you ma. right now I just need some reassurance it will be ok. I'm 24 and I'm going to die if I carry on like this. I guess I'm lucky it's just a gash and sore arm this timeSad

babyjane1 · 19/07/2015 10:03

Hi amiok, I'm so sorry you've been through the wars. I know your feeling really bad and really rough but I promise 24 hours will change everything. First of all do you need medical help? Do you have kids there? How much did you drink? I'm only asking so we can understand your situation better and help you.

Don't worry we'll get you through this babe xxxx

dementedma · 19/07/2015 10:06

It will be OK. Whether you want to cut it out of your life completely or reduce consumption is up to you. We have people on here who do both. You have your whole life ahead of you babe. One day at a time (odaat) is the way to go, sometimes we go one hour at a time, even one minute at a time. You will get lots of help on here.
Have a seat, fasten your seatbelt and relax. Someone should be along with the breakfast trolley soon.....

venusandmars · 19/07/2015 10:23

hi amiok and welcome. I find that it helps me to plan really hard to avoid drinking. Have you heard of HALT? It is an AA term which is short for some of the strongest triggers which make people want to have a drink - Hunger, Anger, Loneliness, Tiredness. So now, while your resolve is high, plan for how you might deal with each of those later. If you feel the urge to have a drink try having something nice to eat instead - something which is slow to eat like a bowl of hot soup and a slice of toast. Then if the urge hasn't gone away try something to address residual anger (whether that is anger at yourself for drinking last night, or anger at the world, or anger at the wine shop for not being open!) - go for a long stompy walk and shout at the passing cars, or beat the stuffing out of an old pillow. Then do something that will make sure you don't feel so alone - play a board game with your kids, or call your best friend for a long chat, or come on here and see who is about - tell us any part of your story that you want to share. And then finally, deal with any feelings of tiredness - alcohol always seems such an easy option when you're exhausted - so have a bath, or a shower, or take a leaf out of ma 's book and spent a couple of hours reading, or go to bed.

The other thing I found was dealing with boredom - bored hands, bored mouth, bored mind. Some babes paint their nails, or do knitting, or a jigsaw (even an online jigsaw), have lots of non-alcoholic drinks ready - tea, juice, water, it doesn't matter, and do something that consumes you mind for a bit - do a puzzle, learn another language, remember the names of all the children in your very first class at school...

Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.

amiok · 19/07/2015 10:44

Thank you so so much, you've made me feel much better. I've cleaned up the cut again, it's not looking so bad now. No kids here till later thank god. I don't know whether to sleep or try and get up. I feel hot and cold and shaky and scared.

dementedma · 19/07/2015 11:05

Sleep if you can, then up and a shower/bath might make you feel better. Try and eat something.
I have to go out now but other babes will be around

aliasjoey · 19/07/2015 11:52

Thanks ma

Welcome amiok

amiok · 19/07/2015 12:21

The sick thing, the really screwed up thing is already I want to drink again. To take the edge off and calm me down. I hate myself. I think everyone would better off if I just died. Which I probably will

babyjane1 · 19/07/2015 13:32

amiok babe I once drank for 2 weeks straight, had alcohol poisoning and really wanted to and thought I would die. YOU WILL NOT, you are having a huge come down from the booze but I promise you, you will get better, you need to eat first and foremost and get out for a walk, baby steps and tomorrow the world will look a whole lot better, I promise you, I've been where you are sooo many times and I've fought my way back, we are here for you, you have friends now xxxxx

Vagabond · 19/07/2015 13:37

Amiok, it's sort of normal to want a drink to take the edge off. And you probably know yourself that you will probably feel better after a few drinks. But then you'll be back on the merry-go-round. And then feel that much worse.

You probably do hate yourself right now, but nobody else does so put it into perspective.

If you drink today, you'll probably still hate yourself tomorrow and feel worse. If you don't drink, you'll feel so much better and barely remember hating yourself so much today.
I've been in your shoes. Most of us have.
Be kind to yourself. You deserve it, even if you think you don't. Stay on here and keep talking.
Thinking of you Flowers

amiok · 19/07/2015 13:43

Thank you so so much, you've no idea how much your words are helping.

Vagabond · 19/07/2015 13:51

Amiok, we have all been there! Thank heavens for you that your injury is treatable at home, that you're not in the hospital or a police cell.

You ARE going to be ok. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Breathe through the jitters. You will be fine.

Vagabond · 19/07/2015 13:52

My friend calls this feeling "the Sunday negs".

amiok · 19/07/2015 13:56

I don't remember how I got home after falling. I think I just ran home with a broken bottle of wine. God that's pathetic. I hope I didn't do anything else.
