The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Soaking Up The Warm Sunshine, Instead Of The Warm White Wine!

Hi, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

A place for pouring out your heart without being judged, mostly because a lot of us have been exactly where you are right now, or somewhere similar.

We've been around for a while, so there's not much that we've not seen..... or heard.... or been through ourselves. Sad

Some of the Babes are newer to the Bus, some of the Babes have been here on dear old "Gerald" (The name this Bus was given by one of the Babes, I forget who now!I suspect IsinDe or Silver) for a little while longer!

EVERYONE is welcome here. Drinkers, those who are complete non drinkers, and those who are somewhere in the middle of all of the above. :)

Some Babes are in control of their drinking, some not so much. It's dreadfully hard some days, days when there is nothing going around your head except thinking that you MUST have a drink and you sit there trying to work out when, what time you can have that first mouthful of ice cold poison.

Whatever your goal here, or why you're here, we'll all help you along the way, YOUR WAY.

There will be one of us on here that can relate to your life story as if it were a mirror they were looking at, someone to hold your hand if you want it, catch you if you fall, which you may or may not. Positive thinking, just One Day At A Time.

No one Babe is better than any other, we've all been addicts. We've all suffered, yes some more than others but it's not a competition (and no-one gets turned away) but if you rack up shed loads of sober days, you will be a winner on the thread!! Grin

So, if you want somewhere safe to sit and enjoy the warming summer sun, come find a seat, have a chat or just sit and listen to the rest of us yakking on!! Grin

Nice to meet you :) all.

Also, here is the latest thread -

THE LATEST THREAD WE'VE SHARED OUR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES ON

And this is the very first thread -

AND THIS THREAD, THIS THREAD IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THE JOURNEY STARTED, AND HAS SINCE EVOLVED OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS

Hope to chat soon, Mousey x

Fairenuff · 05/08/2015 09:37

What's ma been up to at the castle then, not more soldiers?

Thank you so much for all your kind messages and for the shout outs. It's lovely to know that so many people were thinking of me and and wishing me well Flowers

Mouse you've really been through it again haven't you, you poor thing. It sounds like you had a horrible time with the weather and I don't blame you for wanting to come home. I would too and I'm not in constant pain like you. Hope it starts to ease a bit now you're home. Drier weather is on it's way this weeked I think. Chin up chuck. Come and hang out with us x

NoAprilFool · 05/08/2015 19:33

I cannot wait for the Great British Innuendo this evening. I love it. Sadly no cake but I will be having a cup of tea and celebrating Day 2 AF.

dementedma · 05/08/2015 20:14

My day was spent at the Castle planning my big master plan. I think (hope) I have secured some funding which will help us to survive. Last night I had dinner at a very posh gentlemans club with three very senior military chaps. Twas lovely. They are charming, educated, witty and really good fun. I am bloody knackered though.
Am watching the bake off

NoAprilFool · 05/08/2015 20:26

That sounds really hopeful ma

Petridish · 05/08/2015 20:27

Still drinking but have cut down lots.

Weird - despite getting wasted on Sat night with friends and enduring evil hangover on Sunday, my friends have confirmed that I only had three glasses of white wine and a very small cocktail.

aliasjoey · 05/08/2015 20:42

Sounds good ma

I am getting more and more fed up of my inlaws. Another couple of years and DD won't want to spend any time with them. They just seem to suck all the fun out of life.

venusandmars · 05/08/2015 22:27

alias I think that the relationship between dc and grandparents changes over time anyway. Often when dc are little they love dgp - the weirder the better.... then as the dc grow up there is a distancing and they are embarrassed by their dgp, and totally disinterested in them. Then as dc grow towards adulthood (and dgp start to decline) the whole balance changes again. It can be an interesting mix of tolerance and intolerance, dc can challenge age old viewpoints in a way that we can't, and dc can develop bizarre interest in the lives of their dgp - rationing, or lack of phones, or black and white television - can all be source of interesting conversation. Also the dc are on your side in raising eyebrows at the dgp and the odd / mad / racist / homophobic comments, and that is a sort of bonding for you and your dc.

venusandmars · 05/08/2015 22:29

Our dgp got renamed too - farty gran' and 'gran telly' Smile

aliasjoey · 05/08/2015 22:45

Thanks venus how are you doing lovely lady?

obrigada · 06/08/2015 09:16

Morning babes, Day 2 alcohol free today, and today I will not drink Smile

Fairenuff · 06/08/2015 10:30

Well done obrigada, have you got any plans to keep you busy?

obrigada · 06/08/2015 11:09

Hi Faire, instead of my normal vegging in front of the telly I am planning to sand down my front door (if rain stays away) and have it ready for painting at the weekend. I also plan on going for a walk because my addiction to chocolate is growing Grin and the weight is starting to pile back on.

How are things with you? You have had a rough couple of months x

Fairenuff · 06/08/2015 11:57

Sounds like a good plan, I think the rain is expected to hold off. I'm going away tomorrow for four or five days visiting family so may or may not check in depending on how busy we are and/or wi fi conntections.

Actually, it's two days with family and then two days just with dh for a hotel city break. Will be very relaxing, he's a great support, very funny and kind and we need to just get away for a couple of days.

Will be leaving the dcs home alone for the first time. I've told them no parties, no alcohol and no fires in the garden. Anything else I've fogotton? Grin

obrigada · 06/08/2015 12:08

Hope you enjoy your break away Faire and that you come back to a party free house Grin xx

venusandmars · 06/08/2015 17:58

faire I shall not scare you by recounting the tale of dc's party while we were away....... Shock but seriously, have a lovely break.

Well I am sat in a pub. Mettingham someone here in an hour and a half so I'm enjoying a cool lime and soda and eating pakora and it feels ok. Years back I could never have imagined such a thing.

dementedma · 06/08/2015 19:55

Have a good break faire
I am drinking as usual but won't get pissed.
My to do list for tomorrow currently has 28 actions.....

muddlejumble · 06/08/2015 20:06

I've found you! Please can I join?
I need to stop drinking. I've tried to do it myself but usually manage a week and then give in to the cravings. I've managed over 2 years before (after hypnotherapy) but I'm terrified of what the future holds.
For many years I had a big problem with alcohol, went to AA and did detoxes and rehab then I stopped altogether. But now I've started again.
Things aren't as bad as they used to be by a long way. But I need help and I can see from reading this thread that some of you are in the same place. Thanksxxx

dementedma · 06/08/2015 20:08

Welcome muddle. Come and join us.

venusandmars · 06/08/2015 23:27

Hello muddle and welcome. What are your plans this time round? AA? more hypnotherapy. At least you are starting from a point where you KNOW that it is possible to stop, and that has to be good.

Hope other babes have had a good evening, or are enjoying holidays in nice places. We actually had a glimpse of sunshine today.

muddlejumble · 07/08/2015 17:09

Thank you for your replies. I've self referred to the local advisory service and have made an appointment to see the doctor on Monday. Where is everyone else up to? I've tried Soberistas too but ultimately I always end up drinking again. It is just so hard and so tormenting. Is anyone else early on in their AF days? I must admit I've got drinks for tonight but I'm aiming for tomorrow to be my day 1....again! Thank you for welcoming me. x

lookingforhope · 07/08/2015 19:39

Hi all. Back from holiday with a great tan but about half a stone extra, and was not thin before I went Blush. determined never to be as fat again, felt like a whale. WB was usual self (mostly miserable) but kids were great and food, weather etc all good. Was drinking but mainly beers and the odd Mohito so didn't get drunk which is good for me. Big health kick and diet begins tomorrow (new start number 32,476 or thereabouts). Need to get business head on as redundancy now looking imminent so have meeting next week 're: negotiating freelance contact with new people and am so out of practice. Also doubt I will be able to fasten any of my smart clothes. Am at Gymnastics with dd right now and on phone so can't nc all, but welcome to the new babes and holiday chocolates on the dashboard. Obrigada ... Been to Portugal, so heard your name every day Grin. And Ma, congratulations on work developments ... I knew you could do it , so pleased for you Flowers
