Anyone know whatever happened to Cogitoergosometimes?
I thought she was very insightful and helpful in relationships.

There have been a few regulars like Buffy in feminism that have vanished recently. Whatgowaan?

AF -we need to know

MadeMan · 28/06/2015 23:14

I think all this talk of Janet Street-Porter is just a dead herring. The clue is in the intials A and F.

AnyFucker is former Man Utd manager Alex Ferguson; case closed.

Jux · 28/06/2015 23:14

I'm glad Cog is still around, and AF hasn't gone. I miss Izzy; her use of language was beautiful. I always imagined she looked exactly like Audrey Hepburn.

redshoeblueshoe · 28/06/2015 23:34

What's a dead herring ? Grin
AF - you're fucked - if you say you are JSP - no one will believe you
if you say your not - no one will believe you Grin
I hadn't considered Alex - I'll have to stat reading AF's posts more carefully

TheHouseOnBellSt · 28/06/2015 23:43

Does anyone remember "WhoMovedMyChocolate" I always liked her.

teatrailer · 28/06/2015 23:55

Something happened to Izzy before she disappeared, she was quite cruel to a regular poster on one of the quieter topics. It was so out of character that I wondered what was wrong, only saw her once afterwards. Still miss her very entertaining style.

MrsChanningTatum · 28/06/2015 23:59

I really liked Cog too.
She' definitely not back though (as one poster said upthread), I've noticed a couple of old threads on this board this week. I thought she was back and was made up, but no.

I followed her on Twitter too, but she's dissapeared from there also!

I always liked "whenwillifeelnormal"'s advice too. She left years ago.

Two great posters.

teatrailer · 29/06/2015 00:13

I think that WWIFN did return under another name, but her style was instantly recognisable to many and she then disappeared for good. A huge loss.

IPityThePontipines · 29/06/2015 00:24

Yes,WWIFN was lovely and patient and it was very unpleasant the way she was chased off here.

AnyFucker · 29/06/2015 00:27

actually, I am Katie Hopkins

the last I heard of Izzy she was going for some sort of operation, on her hip I think...I hope she made it through ok

NerdyBird · 29/06/2015 00:42

I have a feeling I saw a post by Cog that mentioned taking a break. Not a dramatic exit or anything but perhaps she just wants to focus on real life for a while. Plus, the nature of forums is that people come and go.

trackrBird · 29/06/2015 01:12

AF I remember the same. Could've been a knee....either way, she was uncharacteristically terrified, as she freely admitted. I do miss her. And I miss Cogito, who was/is so clear thinking (and straight talking).

Anniegetyourgun · 29/06/2015 01:51

actually, I am Katie Hopkins

Fort you was Peter Andre? Unless... they are actually the same person. Now there's a thought.

ToastedOrFresh · 29/06/2015 02:13

Of course AF is Alex Fergusson.

Neither her or Cog need to rush back as far as I'm concerned. The fact the have their own petty little fan club says it all really.

CantAffordtoLive · 29/06/2015 06:45

Well I for one hope she comes back. I suspected that she was actually a counsellor in real life.

Thank goodness AF is still with us :)

I've been on MN under various names for a few years now and have learned much from all the good advice given to other posters in need, and for that I am grateful.

ToastedOrFresh No need to be so nasty.

TellUsAboutItLater · 29/06/2015 06:56

toasted it's hardly their fault that their posts stick out in people's minds. I generally hate the fawning threads but must say I usually felt like things were in order once Cog or AF joined a thread.

AnyFucker · 29/06/2015 07:04

have a nice Brew TOF, you'll feel better

handfulofcottonbuds · 29/06/2015 08:39

toasted - I also don't like the idea of the fan club contingent but AF has shown me kindness when I needed it as well as many others and I will always be grateful for that.

Cog gave measured and valuable advice and that is why she is missed.

HootyMcTooty · 29/06/2015 09:33

I really hope that Cog is just taking some time out. MN can be quite emotionally draining when you invest in some of the threads, particularly in relationships. There have been a fair few troll threads lately and they can push people away.

She's a wise and kind poster and I'm sure she's helped many a poster here over the years. I hope she comes back, but I don't blame her for taking a break, if that's what she's doing.

pocketsaviour · 29/06/2015 09:57

I am definitely not Cog by the way :) But I also miss her. Whenever an old thread gets resurrected and I don't notice the date, I think "She's back, yay!"

The boards do get exhausting sometimes. When you're giving advice that's based on your own (usually painful) experiences, it can take it out of you. I try to avoid posting if I'm feeling emotionally vulnerable.

I hope Cog is well, wherever she is.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 29/06/2015 10:12

A lot of posters here are very generous with their advice and support.

The people mentioned on this thread are just some of the most prolific, so people remember them.
I know that they also continue support off the boards.

I've seen many threads where an OP has come back months or years after they asked for help to thank the people who gave it. They say it changed or even saved their lives.

I think that warrants a bit of appreciation and even affection.

To describe that as "a petty little fan club" makes you sound rather small-minded and bitter toasted. Try a little generosity yourself, it might make you feel better.

WaltzingWithHeiferlumps · 29/06/2015 10:44

Well said Bewitched.

I too hope Cog is well and is just taking some time out.

ToastedOrFresh · 29/06/2015 10:51

Yup. As expected.

PeppermintPasty · 29/06/2015 11:40

Oh and Millivanilli, vicar is about. She has posted briefly recently. Another great poster, but Bewitched is right, more generosity of spirit for some.

DoorToTheRiver · 29/06/2015 11:43

Toasted it's not about a petty little fan club as you put it. Like many others who've posted on the relationship boards Cog took time out of her life to try and help and advise me when I posted. Fairly trivial in my case but it was sending me stir crazy at the time and I appreciated her thoughts and advice.

Posters like Cog because she's been kind and tried to help them and given lots of good advice to loads of posters on here. If someone tries to help you it's appreciated, hence the fan club. Really not a difficult concept and yes to be expected.

Hope Cog is ok too.
