Re meetings - I met the lovely Thurso when she was in my home town (I think her dh was worried about her meeting a random person off the internet) and I met another babe for coffee a couple of times with her child (and I was glad to hear recently that she has been sober now for 3 years).

And ma and isindie of course. Which incidentally was more difficult. Fabulous women, and great fun, but I found it immensely more of a trigger for wanting a drink. Fortunately lots of cars and driving was involved (although only one car was used as a murder weapon), but in my head I kept thinking "Oh God, it would have been such fun if we were drinking"

Shoes - my nemesis, though strangely swapped with kid's stuff since dd was born.

I used to have a shoe closet in my old flat. Sometimes when I have a down moment, I pour myself a glass of fizz and try on all my shoes.
Yes, maybe not normal but they make me feel good.

I am specific about type,and love DM's with the kind of passion men reserve for vintage cars. I regularly enter shoe shops just to stroke the products....mmmmmm.....

This year I NEED chestnut coloured boots . It may be a motive to stay of the booze.

Dd2 wears killer heels. Seriously killer! She says "go high, or go home" I am weirdly loving all the pictures of peoples shoes and feet. It makes you all real!

Blimey, I'm closer to having a drink than I have been for several weeks....all those lovely, lovely shoes. Mmmmm....I never really thought I had a footwear issue before now, but am beginning to realise I was way wrong on that..

I took a couple of pictures of my shoe 'storage' cupboards and am plunged into shame. Too embarrassed to post them. Well over 80 randomly stacked pairs, of which 11 are Converse, 13 DMs of some description or other and 9 Birkenstocks. Even a couple of pairs of Manolos, not that I've ever worn them - am basically a DM girl at heart. And well over 85% are black - I clearly never really got over that goth thing. (I looked at a pic of DD, the other day, in her DMs, leather biker jacket and mildly-cool-bob and thought yikes, I'm dressing her exactly as I dressed myself at university - am irrevocably stuck in the mid-80s, and not really that embarrassed about it, either).

Suitably shamed. On the up side, it has been lovely seeing all your shoe pics! Hope you're doing ok - Ma, I am so, so sorry about work - it seems to be sliding to a fateful conclusion and from what you say there is little to be done, but it is just so sad. I am glad you have had a great boss throughout it all - just such a shame that you have good boss/bad work prospects and others have the reverse. I hope you're ok.

Can we change the subject from shoes, just to save my sanity? Please, humour me? How about soundtracks - if you are listening/could listen to anything this evening, what would it be? Reflecting on the history of my footwear fetish has made me all nostalgic and I'm having a Talking Heads night (and not even the semi-respectable bits - have always had a bit of a sneaky thing for Little Creatures, and am yowling away happily). Go on, share, please: cheer me up!
