The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Driving Through A Sober Winter Wonderland.

Mouseface · 07/12/2014 01:56

Hello, I'm Mouse Xmas Smile

Welcome to the Bus, he's called Gerald.... he takes us up and down and this wondrous land, searching high and low for Babes in need of some support, a warm place to sit and chat, and to have someone to listen to them.

So, grab a seat as we swing by your way. There's lots of hot drinks, food and fleeces, places to just be and places to sit around and chat if that's what you want.

We don't judge, because we've all be in your shoes, be they stilettos, wellies or crocs!...

We're just us, we're just honest and we just do what we can to help, if we can, when we can. Let's try and have a Merry Christmas without getting off our faces this year. Xmas Smile

Here is the very first, emotional thread if you would like to see where this all started

And the last thread if you want to keep up!

alias doesn't matter. Just try again tomorrow and the day after and the day after. It's an incredibly hard habit/addiction to break. Don't give up.

I have come back from 8am (I have to keep tying that) Saturday morning yoga and my boing is so big I'm sure you can feel the earth vibrate all the way across the hemispheres.

8 months today. Incredible. I was 1-1.5 bottles a day too jingle and slowly but surely killing myself and destroying everything worth living for.

Keep battling my lovely babes. It's so worth it.
xx

babyjane1 · 10/01/2015 08:21

Morning babes, Grrrrr another crappy sleep, so frustrating and coupled with constantly running to the loo, I'm bloody knackered. Anyway still going to Yoga, might help me sleep better tonight.

It's very cold, dark and windy here but it's great to not add a hangover to the list, still sober though patiently awaiting some boing, think it takes longer in the winter to reach us.

I was thinking during the night that whilst we are all doing our best for dry January, the pressure is really ramping up. Life is so difficult in one way or another for all of us, if any of us don't make it it's so so important to stick around, it's not a competition and every day without wine is a victory and a wee stumble ain't gonna undo the days beforehand. I've stopped a hundred times at least and when I fail I go off thread coz I feel I've failed myself and all you lovely babes when really that's the time I needed your friendship the most!!

It's not a competition, just a challenge to give us a head start on the WW so however far any of us gets, we need to stick together.

Take care out there, it's wild xxxx

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:21

Morning lovely babes

Alias hope you're ok today?

Sweet thanks for story about your best friend who you can't meet with at the moment due to risk of booze, it really helped. I love it when I wake up and haven't had a drink the night before. I am going to avoid thinking about my boozy mates for now and enjoy sober me.

Soc 8 months is amazing- I don't know your story but I'm sure you have faced some challenges along the way (understatement)

Jingle well done on alcohol free down from a bottle and a half is really fab. Never tried no alcohol beer myself might try it.

Baby enjoy gymnastics

Mouse hope knee/tooth starts to feel better. My tooth has started to play up too (I have loads of problems with my teeth - drives me potty)

Had a dream last night that my DH snogged someone else I was fuming and kept pinching his face Confused (in my dream)

Today I shall not been drinking.

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 08:22

Morning on day 10 Shock, it's really windy here, the line of trees at the bottom of my garden is whipping around like , lots of of big whippy things.

Had another fitful night and woke up with a horrible raging thirst and bad taste in my mouth (I don't even get that when I drink Hmm). But the sleep I'm getting isn't bad, I'm just aware its not continuous.

Alias it's not 'fail', it's a blip. Could we install a 'reset' button on Gerald for Babes who go back to day one - it would be like in a game - you get to the end and defeat the big boss (aka Wine Witch) eventually, it just takes some of us longer, and more goes.
What was the trigger this time, Alias?

Baby not only is that lovely for dd2, if you ever did 'slip' having to do it would be a god-awful punishment.

Soc, we all love your shining example anyway, but what was extra special for me this morning was the hope that 'boing' is not just a temporary reaction to the early stage euphoria (not that Ive had it yet, this time), but a whole way of life.

Going for another walk today, and DS wants to make bread - bloody Mary Berry cookbook, who buys a 12 year old that for Xmas Wink. Have a good day all. Today, I will not drink.

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:25

X posted with Baby. Great post I too in the past have gone off thread if I've fallen off the bus and would have been much better if I had come on here for support.

Enjoy the blustery day babes

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 08:26

X posted Baby & Ruby. Typing slowly this morning because Puss-the-cat has fallen asleep against the computer and I don't want to disturb her - she is one pampered kitten.

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:27

Just casually walked over to the window to see if it was windy out there and bloody fence is on the floor Shock

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:28

Hi Sweet

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 08:29

Oh, Ruby what a pain in the bum!

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:31

Very much a pain in bum Sweet Grin

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:33

I too have an urge to bake and so will check out the cook books. Who did buy the cookbook Sweet was it you? Grin

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 08:39

Seemed like a good idea at the time, Ruby - though he is banned from the Bake Off Cook book his Gran bought until he has worked through Marys Berry's technique instructions! Last week he mastered separating eggs , but I do wish it was 'cooking' rather than baking [selfish emoticon]

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 08:52

He sounds very skilled and baking good. Could be computer games instead

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 08:56

Oh, we have the computer games arguments, Ruby - but since I am uber-strict (unreasonable as far as he is concerned) on not allowing him anything he's not old enough to buy himself, he doesn't have any that are interesting enough to keep him engrossed!

Rubyredlips · 10/01/2015 09:04

Fair enough Sweet. Enjoy your bread making. My DD aged 5 is looking through one of our cookbooks and saying 'yuk' to everything. She seems to be dismissing anything that doesn't have chocolate on it Grin

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 09:23

So pleased to be past the "Yuk" stage Grin Ruby

Right then, going for my walk - even though it's started spitting with rain. What are the other Babes up to I wonder?

dementedma · 10/01/2015 09:36

Day 10!! I repeat Day 10!!!!
In bed watching the snow hurling sideways past the window! Will be hard not to just comfort eat all day today and am not going for a walk in that!
My scales must be faulty.....I cant possibly have lost that much in two weeks.....Grin
You babes rock. Without the unwavering support of the lovely loonies on here, I couldn't be doing this.

TheJingleMumsRush · 10/01/2015 09:57

Sweet, a reset button is a fab idea Grin also like the description of big wippy things Smile

Definitely nota fail, just a reset,

babyjane1 · 10/01/2015 10:03

Yay ma your sounding boingy today, sooooo spill ,, how much have you lost???? Xxxxx

dementedma · 10/01/2015 10:07

Looks like nearly half a stone which can't be right! Although I do see and feel a big difference. Will check in on a friends digital scales later so the truth might not be so good! Off to get my haircut. That should lose me a bit more Grin

obrigada · 10/01/2015 10:12

Morning babes. Havent had a chance to read through thread but just want to post to say Day 10 here. Energy levels up !

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 10:14

Go Ma-a, go Ma-a

I got the "I'm Done: Drinking' app, to keep track of my days etc) It's American, but I just pretended the $ are £. It says I have saved 5750 calories, assuming I only really drank one bottle a day Blush. So I wouldn't be surprised if it really was half a stone Ma, since you've been dieting as well. - Will it be just a trim or something more rad?

Morning Jingle - what colour do you think would be appropriate for the reset button?

aliasjoey · 10/01/2015 11:02

Thanks Babes. Lovely posts sweets and babyj

Not sure what the trigger was, apart from their still being loads of Christmas booze left over. Lesson for next year - don't get bottles of gin and tonic. Because if one runs out, more has to be bought to go with the other - it's a vicious circle! Maybe next time buy those mini cans of ready-made G&T.

Woke up at 3am with a pounding headache, sore throat and aching joints.

aliasjoey · 10/01/2015 11:03

ma that's fantastic, I'm so pleased for you!

SweetLathyrus · 10/01/2015 11:43

If you pour the tonic as though it were a G&T - ice/slice, but just without the gin - I find I don't really notice after the first sip, Alias, but out of sight is definitely out of mind Smile.

Just back from very bracing (wet & windy) walk, feeling flushed and better for it. DS has decided on a Farmhouse seed loaf, so I'm off to get linseeds and wholemeal bread flour.
