Hey, I'm Mouse, welcome to the Bus (aka Gerald!) Grin

We're a mixed bunch of folk, some have been here for a while, and of course we have some new additions too. It matters not one jot how long you travel with us, as long as you get something from it.

No matter your story, your needs, your fears and hopes, you CAN come on here and talk. You can cry, scream, rant, let it all out and not be judged for anything. Ever.

We've all been so very low, some have hit the very bottom of the rock, rubbed the bruising better and picked ourselves back up again but sometimes, you need a helping hand or someone to listen too.....which is why we're here, sharing our experiences, or just reading each other's and nodding as we click along.....

The support here is unconditional. :)

There are two banners down each side of Gerald, our super duper Bus saying -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

We have lots of food on board, but mainly Opal fruits!!! They tend to be anything other than green, as they get snapped up vair fast indeed!

If you would like to know a bit more about how we got to where we are today, you can read these threads.

Day 21... I've done 3 weeks Shock

Have just watched the Fault in Our Stars with two 12-year old girls who cried the ENTIRE way through the film. DH and I were like this Hmm

I think they were trying to outdo each other emotionally "I can't stop crying! It's so saaaaad!!" "I need another tissue!!!!!"

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 07/11/2014 21:20

Day 22 here joey, I am fair trickit with myself.

I cried at the John Lewis advert and at the story in Manchester Evening News. A lovely lady was dying in hospital, the nurses and her daughter arranged for her horse Bronwen to pay her one last visit, that lovely old horse nuzzling her face, while she was happed up nice and warm outside in her hospital bed, such a perfect thing to do for her.

That's what nursing is. Right there.

70hours · 07/11/2014 21:50

LOL at the twelve year old girls - I have a 12 year old as well alias :)

Wry - Ye big softy Ye :)

Girls we doing well :)
Ma hang on in there - I didn't intend to stop this time but scars myself silly googling liver disease and now still here :)

aliasjoey · 08/11/2014 00:18

I should clarify DH and I were not Hmm at the film (which was truly moving) but at the over hysterical hormonal girls - we could barely hear the dialogue above their wailing...

wry I saw that story, it was very touching!

70 6 weeks whoop whoop! I've only done half of that, but each day gets easier.

70hours · 08/11/2014 06:31

Alias only on day 27 myself so just in front of you - but by time I get blood tests done will be 6 weeks :)
I agree though def does get easier - and more enjoyable - feeling good today :)

70hours · 08/11/2014 07:14

Still no real weight loss - what he chuff is going on !!!

dementedma · 08/11/2014 11:37

Keep at it 70 it will probably drop off all in a rush and you will emerge sylph-like and swishy.
Dh has his appointment on Dec 4th for angio thingy and/or stent. I will have to take the day off work to try and keep him from hysterics. Then, apparently, he can't drive for 7 days. I don't care. I am going to Windsor on the 10th to my conference at the Castle and hell mend him!

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 08/11/2014 13:33

Morning all! 70 everything will fall into place, write down everything that passes your lips. maybes not everything... Blush

Well, this week I have stopped accepting lifts to work. I have lost a kg and a bit just walking to and from the bus stops. No other effort involved. I just need to motivate myself to exercise more but by the time I get home, it's walk Little then I'm velcroed to the sofa.

ma do you need a locum nurse to look after him while you pop off to Windsor? I'll be his very own Den Flixter... Bwaaahahaha. Grin

aliasjoey · 08/11/2014 15:00

wry you mean Nurse Ratched I think?

dementedma · 08/11/2014 18:54

Got all 3 Dcs home this weekend. They are playing Christmas music and singing along. Chaos!
What are you all doing tonight. I have managed not to buy wine so will have the half bottle which is in and then have to stop. Not AF but a reduction at least.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 08/11/2014 18:59

Oh aye, I forgot about her joey! And a little bit of Annie Wilkes' nursing skills for good measure...oh aye... Dirty Birdy..

Though I fear with my norks I might look more like Gladys Emmanuel.

Where is everybody? I miss loads of folk on here...are you all okay?

baby, spanna, venus, beaches, mouse, faire, Margaret, hope, faith, pick, soc, guggs, eccles, crabby, val, phrase, nancery, and anyone else my kinda rubbish memory has forgotten

Bosies to one and all, finish work at 10pm will check in then, xx

dementedma · 08/11/2014 19:03

aliasjoey · 08/11/2014 20:25

ma christmas music?! That's enough to drive anyone to drink...

70hours · 08/11/2014 21:02

How lovely having all three DC home (I think). :). Well done on not buying the wine esp with having all 3 kids at home.

Well discovered lump in mouth today - next to a tooth with a hole in it- googled it and panicked (frigging health anxiety). Anyway it's got better now - but I have got an emergency dentist appointment booked girls 9 tomorrow (to be honest I thought it was an abscess/oral cancer

So just in bed now - thinking how cross the dentist will be when I rock up tomorrow -

Wry - I promise I am not a secret eater - but will begin to make notes of what I eat x

70hours · 08/11/2014 21:02

Hello joey. Still going well x

UhOhChongo · 08/11/2014 21:34

To someone up-thread re alcohol and sleep. I read somewhere that alcohol can indeed make you conk out initially, but often leads to a fitful, disturbed sleep pattern in the main. That rang true with me.

(Long time lurker, occasional poster on this thread. Big up the Brave Babe Posse.)

dementedma · 08/11/2014 21:38

That is very true Chongo and great to see a lurker dropping to say hello.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 08/11/2014 22:57

70 I'm so sorry petal, didn't mean to sound as if I thought you were a secret grazer Blush (((((((apologetic bosie))))))) good luck at the dentist tomorrow my lovely, hopefully it's nothing to worry about, try not to worry, sweet dreams, xx

I am more aware of what I eat, but my downfall was I forgot that fruit juices, coconut water, rose lemonades, cordials, tea and coffees etc all add up too..

I've made more of an effort to just have water today to see if it will help make a difference..

Although I am sore in need of a wee snifter, there isn't anything in the house except coconut water. Just in, Little and I curled up watching Strictly under our big blanket. Nowhere else I'd rather be, love being next to my little hairy heater when it's cold and damp.

How are you chongo, lovely to meet you! Have you been up to anything nice today? Xx

ma how's the Christmas sing song coming along? You lost the will yet? Grin Tardis Xx

beachestoexplore · 09/11/2014 01:05

Thanks for the mention Wry Smile. I am fine but sat firmly in the sidecar for now. Just lost my oomph. Still lurking though Grin Xxx

Love to you all.

70hours · 09/11/2014 07:38

No problems Wry I was only joking :).

Fairenuff · 09/11/2014 08:05

Morning all Smile

I'm going for a five week pre-Christmas detox - well trying to be as healthy as I can manage. These cold, dark evenings are a perfect excuse for all the sugar laden comfort foods so I'm aiming to fill up on goodness whenever I can instead. Homemade soup is great for that. And no wine, of course.

Hoping to shift a few pounds so that it won't matter so much if i gain a couple iyswim. There's some logic there somewhere Grin

It's a beautiful morning here, calm and still. A good time to reflect. A new day, a new opportunity. Today I will not be drinking Smile

dementedma · 09/11/2014 08:53

Morning faire that sounds like a good plan. Will be dragging the Dcs down to the cenotaph this morning, and then taking dd2 back to uni. That's about the extent of my plans today
