Hey, I'm Mouse, welcome to the Bus (aka Gerald!) Grin

We're a mixed bunch of folk, some have been here for a while, and of course we have some new additions too. It matters not one jot how long you travel with us, as long as you get something from it.

No matter your story, your needs, your fears and hopes, you CAN come on here and talk. You can cry, scream, rant, let it all out and not be judged for anything. Ever.

We've all been so very low, some have hit the very bottom of the rock, rubbed the bruising better and picked ourselves back up again but sometimes, you need a helping hand or someone to listen too.....which is why we're here, sharing our experiences, or just reading each other's and nodding as we click along.....

The support here is unconditional. :)

There are two banners down each side of Gerald, our super duper Bus saying -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

We have lots of food on board, but mainly Opal fruits!!! They tend to be anything other than green, as they get snapped up vair fast indeed!

If you would like to know a bit more about how we got to where we are today, you can read these threads.

aliasjoey · 06/11/2014 21:14

ma just stuffing my face with chocolate and reading a trashy magazine a worthy novel for my reading group

You okay?

dementedma · 06/11/2014 21:35

Yeah. Failinf miserably at being AF though. Hate it when I am totally sucked in like this. Ds doesn't have testicular torsion this time thankfully, so one less thing to worry about. Dd1 home for a few days before going back to Spain next week. Dunno what dd2 is up to.
I'm OK. I'm always OK.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/11/2014 21:47

Evening all!

70!!!!!! Happy birthday to you! hope you've had a lovely day, 25 days is a fab present to give yourself! What did you have for your birthday tea? xx

joey ooh, what's your poison re tat mags? Love a trashy mag, I'm a fiend at the hairdresser.. I especially love the pages where readers send in their photos of the wondrous objet d'art they've made from hamster hair, bottle caps and a doily. I have been bent double at some of them Grin xx

ma How did today go for you? Any easier? xx

I am watching Law And order. I totally have a girl crush on Olivia Benson. I miss Elliot though. Definitely taking The Shell Seekers on the train, I couldn't bring myself to watch the mini series, in case they got my characters wrong.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/11/2014 21:54

cross post, glad your bairn's baw is okay.

ma you look mighty feckin fine from where I'm sitting. A damn sight more than okay. One day ma, one day.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/11/2014 21:55

dementedma · 06/11/2014 21:57

Oh wry that picture is wonderful
Thank you.
One day. One fucking day.
I will!

dementedma · 06/11/2014 21:58

Richard in The Shell Seekers makes me think of Distracted Chap.

aliasjoey · 06/11/2014 22:07

wry I'm reading well skipping the boring bits cos it's so fecking longThe Goldfinch for worthiness. It's taken a week to read 1.5 chapters. Yesterday I read an entire Catherine Alliot in 4 hours. I'm going to end up being kicked out of my reading group Blush

aliasjoey · 06/11/2014 22:07

strikeout fail

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/11/2014 22:50

is she worth a read then, joey? I love a page turner. Grin I have tried and failed with Wolf Hall so many times, I want to love it, but I'm struggling. I don't get it. Normally I'm quite tenacious, but it keeps ending up at the bottom of the pile..

Yy to Richard, ma!

I am seriously considering cutting my hair short. The last lot of highlights did not go well. It feels crispy, it's breaking and it looks, well, a bit cheap. Yup it's disguising the grey, but in a candyfloss fuzzed way, not in a sleek way. Now I'm single, and no one around to tut or point out my roots, I might just brave it out. At the moment it's coloured every 5 weeks.

If I have a shortish bob, I could grow the bugger out.

Pros: It's hat weather, I could wear a funky surgical cap at work to hide the badger stripe of shame, This time next Christmas I will be au naturel. I will save £120 a month, prob quite a bit more if I count the myriad of products I have to use. The new hair looks to be in nice condition.

Cons: I'm going to look an arse for a few months. I will probably remain single during the transition period. I'm going to look an arse for a few months.

It's pretty much white at the top and front. Slightly darker at the back. What do you think O Wise Ones? Your counsel has stood me in good stead so far...

Fairenuff · 06/11/2014 22:58

Or, you could shave it all off and have a dazzling array of wigs.

Fairenuff · 06/11/2014 23:03

I found Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith a riveting read. Also Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel. Both very different.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 07/11/2014 00:23

Oh I loved Clan Of The Cave Bear, Faire, will give Child 44 a read too, always on the lookout for a good book.

I would need a wig, I suspect without my long hair I'd look a bit like Les Dawson playing Ada. I would love to shave it and spare the growing out bit.

70hours · 07/11/2014 07:01

wry you are so funny x

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 07/11/2014 07:45

Happy day 26 70! Have a lovely day, anything nice to look forward to? That's me just off to work, proper day to stay inside, cold, peeing down and v windy here, xx

dementedma · 07/11/2014 12:58

wry dye it purple. Its the only way. < nods thistly heid wisely>

dementedma · 07/11/2014 15:38

Well the Christmas cake is done and in the oven, smelling lovely. We have all stirred and made a wish. Bet you can't guess who what I wished for....
Why do these traditions make me feel so melancholic? Another year passing? A feeling of life passing by? Dd1 is nearly 24 now and I'm still here, doing dishes, baking cakes...sigh ignore me. I'm in a weird mood today.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 07/11/2014 16:07

ma I feel melancholic at Christmas time too, the dark nights don't help me.

I am Scrooge personified. Therefore, I am sending you the Ghost Of Christmas Yet To Come. And we both know what your future could, and should be. And the melancholy will cease and your Christmas will be as it should be, full of love and rampant dumpy pumps There. Sorted, innit.

70hours · 07/11/2014 16:09

Day 26 :) - cancelled/postponed bloods for another week - if nothing else will keep me sober for another week :). - can't believe I have made 26 days - :). Easier now - it really is - cravings less intense and less often - plus more incentive to keep going as don't want to undo all the good work :)

Ma - I feel melancholic this time if the year - Hope your wish comes true xx
wry - I envy your enormous buxom - my 12 year old dd has bigger bras than me -
Laters ladies xx

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 07/11/2014 16:09

Fuuuuuucksake. Autoshitingcorrect.

Rumpypumpy. I meant Rumpypumpy. Blush

dementedma · 07/11/2014 16:38

Grin at rumpypumpy.do you mean houghmagandy? Great word?

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 07/11/2014 17:23

Houghmagandy is indeed a grand word ma!

Dumpy pumps however, is probably Morningside twee slang for shart...

Should be home for 8ish, it's been a very long day, nice bit o ribeye for tea, got some of my rose lemonade to wash it down.

70 keep going, you're almost by the worst, you should be very proud of your achievement! If postponing for a week makes you feel less anxious and gives you an incentive to stay AF, well, that's a good thing. But... try not to postpone again if you can, getting your bloods is a good thing too, and believe me, you'll not be judged lovely. All we want is to look after you the best we can, and for that we need those pesky blood samples... Xx

dementedma · 07/11/2014 17:53

You guys are doing so well. Why the hell can't I? I have no will power at all. God, I am useless at this..

Fairenuff · 07/11/2014 18:09

Ma you know full well that it starts in the head, ahem, sorry, the heid.

If you're not ready, you're not ready. The great thing is that you (and anyone else in the same situation) are mindful of this. You know it's not what you want but that it is what it is for now.

It is what it is. We can't fight it if we are not ready but at the same time, we are not going to admit defeat. We have to face each day as it comes. Every AF day is a bonus.

70 good call. You have good reason to stay off the booze and treat that liver. Keep going, you're doing so well.
