Hey, I'm Mouse, welcome to the Bus (aka Gerald!) Grin

We're a mixed bunch of folk, some have been here for a while, and of course we have some new additions too. It matters not one jot how long you travel with us, as long as you get something from it.

No matter your story, your needs, your fears and hopes, you CAN come on here and talk. You can cry, scream, rant, let it all out and not be judged for anything. Ever.

We've all been so very low, some have hit the very bottom of the rock, rubbed the bruising better and picked ourselves back up again but sometimes, you need a helping hand or someone to listen too.....which is why we're here, sharing our experiences, or just reading each other's and nodding as we click along.....

The support here is unconditional. :)

There are two banners down each side of Gerald, our super duper Bus saying -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

We have lots of food on board, but mainly Opal fruits!!! They tend to be anything other than green, as they get snapped up vair fast indeed!

If you would like to know a bit more about how we got to where we are today, you can read these threads.

Evening babes. Well, midnight. Knackered, this half term business is tiring. Just wanted to say hello to you all, and welcome to BigJim - stick around and chat, you'll find plenty of folk who understand around here.

Have new hair and new car now (freaking out about spending such a lot of money when I will probably be out of a job next Spring but I do need a reliable car - plus may one day end up sleeping in it Shock ). (That is a joke by the way Grin please let this be a joke and I find a job before redundancy kicks in

Need a new outlook and a new attitude now to go with them.

Won't nc as about to go to sleep now but will be back tomorrow

Guggs - hope you are OK. Sorry you are going through a bad patch Flowers

Wry - Guy Martin was on Radio 4 this week, and then had lunch with family today and my cousin was wittering on about him. I told him my friend had a 'thing' for GM, and then realised that's how I see you all - as much my friends as my real life ones (and sometimes more so) Love to all you wonderful lot, and keep the snoring down tonight please Grin

Today Babes, is a special day. It is Richard's birthday. 53 years in old money and 2 years into his new life. 18 months ago the wine witch was hovering over his almost dead body when we deposited an emaciated shaking wreck with the Salvation Army.

Today, he works part-time with a mental health charity, co-ordinates a community garden and is studying for his Masters in Pyschology via the OU. Last week he got his grades for his first year - 94% and a distinction!
Couldn't have got him through without the help for me from the Babes on here. This is one the WW didn't get.

Joey the name of Distracted Chap seems to have stuck Grin
and erm, no, not permanently......

obrigada · 29/10/2014 10:53

Ma, great to hear Richard is still doing brilliantly. Waves to other babes.

aliasjoey · 29/10/2014 11:00

ma that's so good to hear about Richard!

aliasjoey · 29/10/2014 17:55

Hello ma, 70, obrigada, faith, looking, crabby, guggs is anyone else around atm? We haven't heard from isinde for a while? and what about babyj ? This Bus is looking a bit empty!

I'm on Day 12. I keep having cravings, I can fight them off but it's hard work. So I'm trying to work out what triggers them, and if they can be prevented.

On Monday, it was Anger, definitely. DH was having some problems and I was very angry and frustrated on his behalf (and selfishly also on my own behalf because his moods generally affect the whole house!)

What Helped
-not having any alcohol in the house
-being on the Bus, having set myself a challenge and determined to stick to it
-taking the dog out for a walk, fresh air and exercise

Yesterday, okay this is a silly one - listening to the radio, and they played Madonnas La isla bonita - and all I could think was "Summer holidays, sun and sea, margheritas on the beach, mmmmm"

(Note: 1) at no point does she actually sing about alcohol of any kind 2) I don't even like cocktails. Grin So it really is all about the 'image' it conjures up)

So I think with this one maybe I should just switch the radio off if I hear this song (or any other which triggers)

Today, just driving home, thinking about tonight & tomorrow and I so badly wanted to go to Sainsburys and get some wine. Possibly I'm worried about my job and want to 'forget' and relax... I wondered how else to relax (nothing really takes my mind off it) and thought about doing some work tonight to take the pressure off. Well, as soon as I decided to do that I got really anxious, this strong feeling of "I can't do it, I'll make a mistake" Wow, scary. Is that how I feel every day at work? I think maybe it is (deep down) I am scared. Of failing.

Sorry about the long post, I will now go and DO that work...

Fairenuff · 29/10/2014 18:03

Hi all, joey that is fantastic, you are doing so well spotting all the triggers and working out alternative solutions. Remember, no matter how bad the craving it will pass.

Ma thanks for the update on Richard, he is making something of himself now and will be an asset to the psychology profession with all the personal challenges he has experienced. Good for him!

guggenheim · 29/10/2014 18:23

hi babes

day 2. Feeling a little stronger, might start to kick the backs of seats and deliberately drop sweet wrappers. Have taken possession of lovely packet of Ad's which i will begin on halloween, apparently they make you feel worse before you feel better - eek!

Thank you babes

Might just do a NC and then attempt less selfish communication tommoz
