The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Getting Ready For The Golden Sights Of Autumn In Search Of Sobriety.

Hello everyone, I'm Mouse :) and this is the Bus I've been on a while now!

It's filled with a variety of drinkers. Those that do, those that don't, and those who are desperate to STOP but hide it, or embrace it and get the help they NEED.

'Help' in whatever form works for them, your friend or you. Be it AA, a Local Community Alcohol Counselling Group, your GP, your family/friends, this thread or even a combination of all of the above!

You have to want to stop drinking more than wanting to breathe.

I know that right now, that may sound like a ridiculous goal.

They got sober, One Day At A Time then came here during the process to chat about it, discuss their feelings, but more than anything else, their experiences HELPED OTHERS TO BELIEVE that they too could get dry.

They might not get dry and stay dry, sometimes they'll be lying about their consumption, fooling themselves as well as others

BUT when the posters do get dry for good, come back and post to help others with their tricks of the trade or just to say 'I did it!!' my heart jumps for joy because that person, poster, Brave Babe has gone through hell and back, lived to tell the tale and now wants to share that with the rest of the Bus to see if one simple trick or technique will put them on the track to recovery, sobriety, to the life that they want to lead :)

There's two saying that have appeared to stick with us -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

We all have our own reasons for starting to drink 'too much', we all have an excuse don't we.... we all have a "but....."

Well, as I say to Nemo (who you will get to hear about Grin) - goats butt!

And for those of you who want to know a bit more -

HERE IS THE MOST RECENT THREAD

AND THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN, OVER FOUR YEARS AGO!!!

See you soon x

Wry, whatever it was just for me, thank you! Smile Damned computer crashes. Off to bed now, night lovely babes, hot chocolate on the dashboard for anyone still awake xxx

lookingforhope · 12/10/2014 23:08

Ps, also, what is Findo Gask?

Mouseface · 12/10/2014 23:41

Evening, tis me, Mouse

I thought I'd try again.

Ma - I now have five small, hard 'lumps' varying from the size of a small garden pea to a penny. The gynea told me that unless they are the size of a golf ball, they wouldn't remove them but said that they were cysts. I have to say that they are increasing in both size and number...... I'm sure things will be okay, but it's hard not to panic xx

venus! - I did wonder where you'd gone xx

guggs - are you poorly sweetie? xx

Nancery - M&S do some great juices like carrot & orange, apple, blackcurrant & beetroot, apple, lime & asparagus and pineapple, mango, coconut water with a splash of lime. They have others, but these have 2 of your 5 a day in 200mls.

Most supermarkets sell non alcoholic drinks, and also non alcoholic beers, ciders and wines if that is going to help more. It does for some...... who was it that drank/drinks non alcoholic cider?

emo - fab job on the 15 days!!! That is great, it really is :) xx

Phrase - we have put three spiders out tonight, of various sizes but I used to have such a fear of spiders until I held a tarantula, yup, little old me, it was really warm and I wasn't scared at all. I think for me, the smaller and faster the spiders are, the more frightened I get!

Soc - WOW!!! You are very, very, very super duper! That's amazing and you should be very proud of yourself Thanks xx

wry - thank you for the honest post about menopause, I hope that you find some sort of relief from it, things sound really horrid for you.Sad xx

PURPLE!!!! -

mouseI find SW really easy as I can still eat a lot Smile there is very little weighing or counting which is great too as if I have to think about that I find I focus on food all the time. I have now got into the habit of healthy eating and what choices to make and tbh there are so many lovely meals that are really not much different to non SW food that it does not feel like I am trying to lose weight. I have pretty much given up bread though which was hard to do at first. hope breakfast I ususally just have fruit but if I feel I need to get through the day I have an omellette or scramblesd eggs with ryvitas and marmite. yummy lamb curry for dinner tonight.
I did have drinks last night but stayed in control of how much and hopefully its not the start of a binge, will stay off it all week again if I can. rather pleased I did not drink myself silly but hey did not miss the headache I still seem o have this morning despite not overdoing it.

Good morning gorgeous girls, have had a totally mad busy weekend. I was at a party with dd2 yesterday and of all the parents in the room a poor wee lad vomitted all over my rather spectacular blue suede shoes. Then my dd was trying to catch my attention by pulling at my top, I told her to wait til I was finished talking and she the pulled my top fully down revealing a too small bra of questionable colour.

To make things worse I shrieked with embarrassment and everyone looked round (mostly men as some apparently take their kids out on a Sunday, not my dh) worst of it is I wasn't even breathing in xxx

1 month sober!!!

Love and hugs to all xx

hope Its a very funny (and rude) book set in Scotland called "On the Origins of Findo Gask". in the book, Findo Gask is the name of the main character but in fact it is the name of a village in Perthshire.
mouse did you get a mammogram/scan to determine they were cysts?
I would feel happier if it was a pea sized lump as I know that that is generally a cyst - its more of a deep ache and tenderness within one particular area so its worrying me.
doctor on Wednesday evening....
baby one month sober is AWESOME!!!

aliasjoey · 13/10/2014 12:37

well done babyj

PurpleWolfe · 13/10/2014 13:33

Grin @ Babyj! I was in a packed medical centre waiting room with one of DC some years ago. The waiting room (on camp) was full of soldiers as I was married to a serving soldier at the time. When they called my name, I stood up - not noticing DS had hold of the hem of my skirt! Full frontal flash of my 'not so' glam big pants for the whole room! Oh, the shame!

Well done on one month - that is fab! Hugs!

Oh, and 'Hi' Ma, Smile hope you are well and happy?

dementedma · 13/10/2014 13:39

hey purple
not either really, but I survive!
Grin

PurpleWolfe · 13/10/2014 13:45

Ma, is your relationship status still the same? Sorry, I really haven't even been lurking so don't know what's happened. And, of course you survive, you are a tough ol' bird! (Meant with affection, natch!) x

faithhopeandsobriety · 13/10/2014 14:03

Hello beautiful babes!

Not been able to post past few days due to technical issues. Fingers crossed all is well now.

Have had a quick read through on the posts of the last few days. To those that are well and doing well, long may it continue. To those that are unwell, struggling, and not having the best of times, I hope things get better soon.

Today will be day 8 AF. Have to say I did miss it Friday night. I booked myself to do something Saturday morning to help stay on the bus. It was nice to be up and out early on a Saturday morning with a clear head for once.

babyjane1 · 13/10/2014 14:16

faith hi honey, the first few weekends are tricky, drinking is very very habitual. I also preplanned sat morning excursions to ensure if my will power let me down my fear of a hangover would. It doesn't take long to break that habit, I make sat night takeaway night, once I'm full there's I've no interest in drinking and do an elaborate bath sequence on a Friday. Your doing great xxx

aliasjoey · 13/10/2014 14:50

Flowers and t'interbosies to Self and any other Babes who need 'em

faithhopeandsobriety · 13/10/2014 15:08

Tell me about it baby. I am scratching my head trying to think of what to do this Saturday morning. Gym class maybe???

I am also trying to think of a hobby I can take up that requires use of hands and concentration. Has to be something I can do at home and will only work if wine not involved. Hmmm!

Grin at flashing episode.

Congrats on 1 month sober. That is fab!! x

babyjane1 · 13/10/2014 17:57

purple so glad your back, we missed you. Last time you posted was around the time of the Handsome Farmer, I know it fizzled out but is there a man these days?

Hope everyone has survived, is it the school holidays all over the Uk? If I survive this week with dd2 sober (not her me obviously) I will be chuffed.

She had already cut her entire fringe off to a one inch stump (looks like a monk) and has a cracker of a black eye (not inflicted by me) so anything can happen.

Dh is away working all week which I'm glad about, we're not getting on so the break is a welcome one, it's a horrid thing to say but no conflict at least.

I luffs you all, this bus continues to save me every single day. Xx
