Sex with kids/teens in next room

Myself and dh have sex most nights but have a 12 yr old plus 2 other kids who like to stay up late over the holidays. Went through phase of sex maybe once a week but since dh has had a vascectomy and I have stopped the pill my sex drive has gone through the roof!

Finding it harder to have sex and we are both getting annoyed with kids. Have tried them going to bed earlier and us waking earlier but have no comfort knowing they could disturb us.

So wondering how people with older kids manage their sex life.
We don't have anyone that could take them over night for us .

How about a lock on your bedroom door?

Have tried that but one of kids(5) is very nervous at night and likes to know our door is not locked.

Sorry OP its even worse when they are older teens or dare I suggest 20's they are up even later.
You just have to take the opportunity when it arises. It is like having them as toddlers again, they just lig about, mainly upstairs bedrooms.
We even gave them a room downstairs with TV and all their stuff, but no they want to be in their rooms.

Lock on the door. Open it before you fall asleep

Play music /TV in your bedroom to cover any noise

Lock your door for ten minutes ;) until the deed is done.

Open it after.

Just get on with it, My kids are younger than yours and we have been caught a few times but you just have to sort of tell them to get back to bed or put something in front of the door. If I'm honest - its the sneaking around I love the most.

You just unlock it when you're finished.

We have a summerhouse that we "disappear" to.

Just give up until they leave home!

I got a text saying 'I'm not asleep yet!' Funnily enough, at the time I wasn't checking my phone....

Cogito that is awesome. My friend (who is older than I am) was confronted by her teenage son who stated that after people become parents they shouldn't have sex and her reply was "how the hell do you think you got two younger siblings".

To be honest we just get on with it. We have five children it is clear that we are having sex.
We are not shagging on the dining table, we are consenting adults in a loving marriage.

We also send our children to lots of clubs and have a weekend away about every six weeks.

We have noticed that our older children knock on the bedroom door, we have never asked them to!

We co sleep with our baby which creates its own challenges.

the best thing to do is wait til your teens have a night out then get naked (from the waist up at least) under a duvet on the living room sofa - wait for them to walk in, preferably with mates, then smile sheepishly and say hi.....

They will lock their own bedroom doors and wear earplugs forever more, and you will never meet another gangly spotty yoof that you don't know in your house EVER!

but on a serious note, shut the door and put some music or the telly on. 9 times out of 10 they will never know, the one occasion when they walk in you are just "having a cuddle" and can always resume later

.. a lock is better than them walking in..... really. Oh God I still cringe.

OMG, I'd never be relaxed enough to do it with the teens around. Can't do it if the cat is in the same room!

Second a lock and tv/music. You can put the lock on whilst 'doing the deed' and unlock after if you're worried about your DC.

Let's be honest, your kids know you're doing it anyway!

DD shouted at DH once that she had to put up with hearing us at it - must have been once on a very rare occasion

Wait until they're in bed and do it on the sofa it in the kitchen
Or just keep the noise down, we've become experts at the quiet shag...

How early do they wake in the morning? Are mornings an option? (still with the door locked!)

BTW, those of you who have teenagers who walk in when you are having sex and manage to pass it off as " a cuddle" ........
