The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Sipping Super Summer Mocktails Whilst Soaking Up Some Sun.

Hello, tis me, Mouse

I'm what some would call a 'controlled' drinker these day, but I wasn't always and I'm not alone on this wonderful bus, Gerald, when I say that.

We have drinkers who drink each day, those who abstain completely and those who are not sure what it is that they actually want just yet....

We won't judge you for drinking, no matter what your reason is, we've all been in your shoes somewhere along the way!! And we have ALL used every excuse under the sun too!

We have some Babes who ride on the Roof-Rack, (clinging on for dear life Grin ) and then we have an expandable Side-Car, which some Babes use, but the bus, well, the bus, our wonderful Gerald, who takes us here and there, to pick up people in need of an unbiased and much needed ear to listen to. :)

There are lots of ears on this bus, and not a single one will turn you away and not listen!

Two things that we do believe here are -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

If you are lurking and reading this thread, there is a reason for it, isn't there?

Stay lurking or come and say hello! We don't always bite.

And for those who'd like a bit of history, HERE'S THE LAST THREAD

And of course, THIS IS WHY WE ARE ALL HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE, A VERY AWE INSPIRING READ

See you soon x

`Morning babes, Day 10 here - first time at double digits in absolute ages Grin

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 10:48

Hello Isinde, why are you 'creeping'? You know the drill, wave us down and shut 'Oi! Coming aboard!'

Trooperslane · 08/07/2014 11:18

Thanks guys - baby I love your holiday romance analogy Smile

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 11:19

Grrr . . . to continue with the unreasonable crossness this morning. I supposedly work with some of the cleverest people in the country. So why does one of the email me to ask if he has already sent the form I am requesting from him ("er no, that's why I'm asking, don't you save your own documents?"), and calling me 'Julia' - my RL name is NOT 'Julia':
" My name is the one in my email address; and in my electronic signiture; and in the cheery sign-off at the bottom of the email you are replying to, you NOB - and I have only worked here for 15 years!"

Is it any wonder I have a drink problem?

obrigada · 08/07/2014 14:41

Hey Sweet, hope your day has improved, still no sign of my mindfulness book either Sad

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 17:03

Thanks, Obrigaga, it has! indeed improved. Got an in principle approval on my mortgage this afternoon, a little bit of stress lifted.

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 18:12

Blimey my typing is awful today. Obrigada!

Trooperslane · 08/07/2014 19:14

Yaaay sweet (mortgage)
Booo sweet (eejits in work)

Trooperslane · 08/07/2014 19:15

Ps sweet I will forever think of you as a Julia

(One of my loveliest friends is a Julia - this is A Good Thing)

Smile
SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 19:23

Thank you Trooper, it's a very lovely name, it's just not mine!

Anyway, how are you doing today?

Trooperslane · 08/07/2014 19:28

I am good. DH was vvvv hungover today and is a bit sheepish, but he's no need to be because he's dead sensible 99% of the time.

Soon may the day come that I'm his twin.

I have done footner a few days ago.

Holy. Mother. Of. God. (Google it).

I'll have feet like 10 month old dd by the weekend.

I will be having A wine with dinner, but we are celebrating.

Just the one so I can stay awake for the movie.

You are all helping so much - I wish I'd found you months ago.

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 19:33

Wow, was it really that good? Must try it, I have a bit of a thing for foot treatments!

Hope you have a lovely evening, stick to just the one so you will remember it, Trooper.

The support here is ACE Smile

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 19:37

Trooper, would it be ghoulish to ask for updates when the peeling starts? Grin

dementedma · 08/07/2014 20:15

Day 2 and feeling good.more low carbing and no booze. 5 inch friend is suitably reassured Grin
Lots of people doing well at the moment
indie dear, what's happened?
mouse how are the aches and pains today.

Tomorrow I have a meeting with someone rather nice. Would it be tasteless to wear a slightly more revealing top than normal to hint at my splendiferous Norks?

Dear God, this being sober is going to lead me into all sorts of naughtiness.....

babyjane1 · 08/07/2014 21:27

sweet great news on the mortgage front, well
Chuffed for you. Notice the email eejit was a "he" nuff said!!!

trooper my feet are a state, will look up footner and follow your lead, your sounding fab by the way.

ma get those splendid boobies out, you sound so positive and fab, so glad things are on the up and up xxx

mouse and my lovely pal inside just want to give you both a big warm hug cos your soooo worth it.

Was heavier than id hoped at my first weigh in at slimming world, I was naive to think giving up booze the weight would fall off but as I'm not sleeping well I get up during the night and eat toast and biscuits which I've never done in my life. Tomorrow I will read my books from cover to cover and get a lovely clean shop in. It's not just to look better I need to lose weight though that would be nice but I'm all aches and pains when I get up and my lively, wonderful 3 year old needs a fit and healthy mum to keep up with her. May sound naff but I'm cutting out lovely outfits Id love to wear and sticking them all over my fridge, I'm lucky to be nice and tall and want to update my look to reflect this new phase of my life.... So anyone who wants to be sober AND slim, id welcome a buddy.

I'm grateful to be part of this amazing team of women and together we can achieve any goal we want to, truly
sisters in arms, every single one of you are helping me change my life and I'm so very grateful xxx

SweetLathyrus · 08/07/2014 22:26

Baby, what a wonderful post! and you are such an integral part of the 'Sisterhood of the Bus'.

I will commit to joining you in the quest for AF fit, fabulousness. I'm short, and feeling dumpy. I should have been going to the gym, I got a personal trainer to help recover from an injury last year, she has been away for four weeks, and I have been really slack, so it is going to hurt when we start sessions again. But now I'm not drinking, I'm finding after the first day or so, my blood sugar is much more balanced, so it's easier not to eat the crap.

Going to sleep now (was up at stupid o'clock this morning,) DF is here tomorrow for a quick lunch before heading back across La Manche, so I need to be up early to tidy up.

Have a good night Babes

alisonanderson · 08/07/2014 22:43

Well done obrigada on double figures!

sweet you've made me laugh today...just last week a colleague called me by the wrong name no fewer than three times in an hour (my last rather than first name to be fair) but I was too embarrassed to correct her Blush

Keep going troopers, I know how hard it is to moderate, you're doing great.

ma so pleased your friend was reassured! Would love to know how that one turns out!

baby I tried SW a while back but found it quite tricky cooking in a different style. I did love a recipe called 'caldo verde', like a kale broth (much improved by chorizo but not very sw!)

I've been too busy this evening to even think about the wine in the fridge. Late back from work and took ages to settle dd. I've been out for a run, nothing marathon-esque, just 20mins. I could do with losing weight. Not necessarily an amount, more the spare tyre around the middle - definite wine belly!

I do have a plan for the wine. We're going to stay with SIL at the weekend so that will be our take-along bottle. They're not big drinkers so moderating should be fine (I'm usually getting a bit tetchy that there's no chance of opening a second bottle). I would like to only drink on Saturday, not Friday night. May have to feign a headache or have another non-drinking excuse up my sleeve.

babyjane1 · 08/07/2014 22:50

sweet we can be team "little and large" fabulousness, dewy skin and swishy hair WILL be ours

Goodnight my lovelies, sweet dreams xxx

Mouseface · 08/07/2014 23:40

Just popping in to say hello gorgeous Babes, I've missed you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!

Hey chicks - I hope you are all going well!

Sadly I am not - had 4 beers last night after a bad ordeal at the doctors....Stupidly, the last thing I should be doing is drinking, but I, like a lot of us, deal with stress and fear by drinking.

I need to clear my head and sort my s*t out!

Luckily my wee man (DS5) has given me the most amazing cuddles tonite...and said "I love you bigger than the earth and the planets all joined together"...

I have to get stronger!

dementedma · 09/07/2014 06:56

nzgirl with support like that you will get streonger. How lovely!
Good to see so many babes on the health and fitness trail. The bus is feeling lighter already!
indie talk to me. Are you OK?
And where is our delightful French madame these days? Check in ladame if you are out there.
A beautiful morning here in Scotland so here's to Day 3 for me and day whatever for the sisterhood.

SweetLathyrus · 09/07/2014 08:14

Morning Babes.

Alison, my 'wine belly' went down remarkably after only a week - I now have to deal with the 'bog standard fat' under it! Hope the weekend moderation goes well.

Grin Baby "Fabulousness, HO!" -though my hair will have to bounce rather than swish - don't know where the curls have come from, they crept up on me over the last few years Confused

Lovely to hear from you Mouse.

NZ do you have the book 'Guess How Much I Love You?' Noticing your triggers is good - recognising that your habitual solution (alcohol) didn't help is better.

Ma - be naughty, enjoy it! I'd give that cleavage some freedom - as the own of a reasonably impressive frontage myself, wrapping them up looks matronly - and that's just depressing.

Today, I will NOT eat crap,

obrigada · 09/07/2014 10:15

Morning babes, Baby and Sweet I will join ye on your quest to shift some excess lard.
