Hello, tis me, Mouse

I'm what some would call a 'controlled' drinker these day, but I wasn't always and I'm not alone on this wonderful bus, Gerald, when I say that.

We have drinkers who drink each day, those who abstain completely and those who are not sure what it is that they actually want just yet....

We won't judge you for drinking, no matter what your reason is, we've all been in your shoes somewhere along the way!! And we have ALL used every excuse under the sun too!

We have some Babes who ride on the Roof-Rack, (clinging on for dear life Grin ) and then we have an expandable Side-Car, which some Babes use, but the bus, well, the bus, our wonderful Gerald, who takes us here and there, to pick up people in need of an unbiased and much needed ear to listen to. :)

There are lots of ears on this bus, and not a single one will turn you away and not listen!

Two things that we do believe here are -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

If you are lurking and reading this thread, there is a reason for it, isn't there?

Stay lurking or come and say hello! We don't always bite.

And for those who'd like a bit of history, HERE'S THE LAST THREAD

And of course, THIS IS WHY WE ARE ALL HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE, A VERY AWE INSPIRING READ

See you soon x

Awesome baby well done! Sounds like you had a fabulous day.....

babyjane1 · 06/07/2014 00:53

Thanks sober reading it back it sounds a bit cheesy but it was a huge achievement for me and the tingle of pleasure watching my children play without worrying about mummy was better than any bottle Of wine I've ever drank, these are the things you miss or ignore when your pissed, sad but true xxxx

nzgurl · 06/07/2014 07:55

I just got tingles reading that baby - friggin awesome chick!

I have had 2 beers today - over tea with friends, which normally turns into a 'session' but didn't....

I hope everyone is having a fabulous night - it is the start of school holidays here - 2 weeks in winter - could possibly drive anybody to drink! But I am sticking with my 'no alcohol weekdays' and have lots of deep calming breaths instead

Night all xx

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/07/2014 09:10

baby how fab are you?! Amazingly well done, and you got your reward in spades!

Not cheesy at all, just lovely! I am that chuffed for you, Grin xx

guggenheim · 06/07/2014 09:24

baby that is wonderful!! i was just going to comment on how far you have come with horse riding - I can see you putting distance between booze and yourself. Wonderful. I'm not able to stop at one either so it's much better to not get started. Thank you for all your support Flowers what a star Smile

nzgurl I did think 2 beers already- but of course its isn't 9am for you.Well done for avoiding the session just think about the vile hangover which follows.

wry you can only get out when you are ready and able...but...but I'm pretty sure you are worth 1 million of him. Favourite porn stars INDEED Hmm

waves at sobersoc morning babe how's it going?

Morning all. Any boing? any monster hangovers? anyone who feels their drinking is getting out of hand and would like to post? You are very welcome to join in.

Trooperslane · 06/07/2014 11:18

Morning Smile

A reasonable one for me last night.

Dinner with DH, dd and v sensible friends and their dd and then a large glass with the football.

So, just over a bottle of wine, but over nearly 7 hours.

That's good for me!

I'll have a couple of glasses of red over dinner today and I'm busy all day Monday plus on bedtime duty with dd so fx I'll get through Monday without succumbing to the ww

Good luck all.

You're a great source of inspiration for me and I'm so happy I've found you all.

Anneisnotmyname · 06/07/2014 12:25

Afternoon all :) I'm at a children's party in what has to be the world's loudest soft play area ever! Thankfully I had just three bottles of lager last night. Dread to think how much I'd be suffering if I'd had wine!

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/07/2014 14:58

Hello everyone! I swear, there's nothing more satisfying that seeing super sparkly whites on the washing line, blowing gently in the sunshine!

The grass has been mown, Little and I have been for a walk down the river and I am beautifully clear headed.

guggs thank you, xx I know he does it to knock my already crap confidence, and I was mighty proud of myself for refusing to be flattened any further.

sweet this is a yumyum!

Anne now that's a hardcore Sunday! Good job you're not feeling frail, eh? Grin

Trooper How are you doing, glad you had a nice night!

Off to do a spot of weeding, catch up with you all in a bit! xx

Anneisnotmyname · 06/07/2014 16:27

funny thing is wry by the time I left I almost did feel like I had a hangover - tired, headachey, hungry. Thank god I didn't have wine or I'd have been totally suffering. Got it all to do next weekend as well!

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/07/2014 16:33

Weeding done, washing in as rain looks imminent, away to do my ironing with the lovely Columbo on. Can't watch the Wimbledon final, it's a bit too tense!

babyjane1 · 06/07/2014 19:20

Hi babes, thanks for all your lovely comments, I was so touched at your support. Day 14 and took dd2 who's 3 riding with 3 of her friends after taking dd1 out shopping for her birthday. Still not sleeping great, getting up at least twice through the night then up for the day around 6 do it's been a long but fruitful day.

As our lovely guggs said, if there's anyone reading this who's drinking or struggling please please post, I'm aware we are all posting our successes in stopping and moderating but believe me it's one day at a time for all of us and we've made some massive, drink addled mistakes along the way....

This bus is for everyone at any stage of their battle with booze do don't be sfraid, jump on, you know you want to!!!!!

Love and hugs to all my babe friends and the new ones to come who may be reading this tonight xxx

alisonanderson · 06/07/2014 19:28

Evening all, sounds like its been a good weekend all round with everyone working towards their goals. As guggs said, if there's anyone out there feeling like they need to join in then welcome aboard. It's helping me tremendously already.

nzgurl moderating went ok lastnight but not as well as I'd hoped. My trigger was having a pint in a sunny beer garden after a walk with the family in the late afternoon, this of course meant that tactic a) delay drinking, was straight out of the window. We returned home and had wine in the garden, I started off well with tactic b) drink water with each drink to slow me down, but admittedly this fell by the wayside later on. Luckily tactic c) go to bed by 11pm worked better than expected as I fell to sleep on the sofa by 9.30pm Blush so overall I had 4 large glasses of wine and a pint if ale over 6 hours. Not as moderate as I'd hoped but there is a full bottle of wine left in the fridge which could so easily have been opened.

I have made myself quite proud today though. Sitting in the sunny garden this afternoon dh came out with a beer he'd poured for himself and asked if I wanted anything. My thoughts went straight to that bottle of white in the fridge but I had a cup of tea instead. baby I had one of those 'life is good sober' moments seeing my dd pottering around. I felt joyful and appreciated that it wad achieved without that glass of wine in hand.

This week I have drunk on 1/7 days. Last week it was 5/7. I'm feeling a little bit chuffed and very appreciative of the support on here.

wry you're a superstar. Get yourself back to feeling good and then leave him to his pornstars and his own company Hmm

annie I feel headachey on your behalf!

troopers well done! Just being more concious of how much we drink and making ourselves accountable is a huge step. Having a glass of red with a roasty is hugely pleasurable. I want to be there, enjoying a glass and leaving the rest for another time. I feel like I'm on the way to that.

Good luck for the week ahead everyone xx

babyjane1 · 06/07/2014 19:51

Ps wry you are AMAZING and don't let anyone tell you different so there xx

dementedma · 06/07/2014 20:01

Drinking today but planning to go low carb and booze free from tomorrow as part of my Downing Street Diet Grin
Wish me luck.
Now, I have a question which I can only ask on here as I darent Google it and can't ask on any other thread as will be done as a troll. With regard to penises would you say 5 inches erect is sufficient????

I have a friend with relationship issues and he swears this is the problem. What say ye all?

alisonanderson · 06/07/2014 20:48

ma that made me spray out my sparkling water!

Yes that's suffiecient. One of my first, but older and more experienced, boyfriends had a penis which could only have been 3 inches erect but he certainly put it to good use!

However, this should not be an issue to any relationship. If it is then I think he's picked the wrong partner.

guggenheim · 06/07/2014 21:59

Bloody hell- only on the bus!!! erm...5 inches is ok. Ex was big and bloody awful.Oh my word...his willy can't be the problem. OK thinking back - a friend of a friend had a lovely boyfriend and he was a bit tiddly. I don't think it was a major problem, they have been together for a long (poor choice of word) time. He decided to have an op to extend him a little bit- I don't have any other details- they had 2 lovely dds last I heard. So no,5 inches is fine. Omg- ma you never cease to amaze.

alison that is good, beginning to make some better choices- well done.
baby keep going,14 days is great.

ballsballsballs · 06/07/2014 22:15

Hello lovely ladies. Kicking myself for drinking waaay too much yesterday, but at least the hangover is abating.

I once had a boyfriend with a little penis. He was pretty hot in the sack :)

dementedma · 06/07/2014 22:15

Sorry! I told him I would canvas some female friends and get back to him Grin

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 06/07/2014 22:46

ma I'm greetin! Grin Well who knew I'd be pondering penis size tonight?

Not a specialist subject for me, granted, but I would say fine. There's something to be said for Mr Average. I was going to equate it to the Three Bears fairy tale, but then it would kind of end by eating it all up.

Which would sound a bit wrong. Blush

aliasjoey · 06/07/2014 23:04

ma the Downing Street Diet?! Could become a trend!

Okay, 6 inches, in my limited experience "it's not what you've got, it's what you do with it" best sex I ever had was with someone quite short

"Long and thin, gets it in
But short and thick does the trick! "

But I was in love (or thought I was) and perhaps that's the more important factor... ?

Mouseface · 06/07/2014 23:46

Good evening, tis me, Mouse :)

I'm HOME! Did you miss me? I'm absolutely shattered but glad to be home in my own bed and with my family.

It's been the hardest 3 weeks of my life for a long time, but I did it and do you know what? I pushed through the pain and time and time again, I got stronger! Even though my pain is through the roof, my muscles are more defined and I feel better for talking through my conditions, knowing it's not 'all in my head!'

In week 1, we tested our balance ability. Mine was 75% + over to the left. On the last day, it was 53% to the left, so using my 'core', you know, the bit that hides under your jelly belly, and engages all the muscles around the core, has helped me to gain a much better balance.

That said, my goal was to get off my crutches...... that's not happened because I now have something seriously wrong with my right hip and the last three mornings, I've gotten stuck in pain, locked in one position in bed for 3+ hours Sad

On the course, I fell asleep all of the time! Every day that we had a lecture or talk about pain etc, I would sleep. I didn't sleep at night anyway but it was SSSOOOO embarrassing but the pain team just said that my body needed it because of the pain.

I've got to get to my GP ASAP and talk to him about all the sleeping and the meds I'm on. We had a meeting with the head pharmacist who was great and recommended lots of things that I should and should not be taking.

We'll see :)

Sorry for not reading back..............

Morning all.

I've got dd all day and night alone so a fabulous excuse for zero wine.

Have a good day Smile

SweetLathyrus · 07/07/2014 08:16

Morning All.

A mixed weekend for me. I was doing really well, Saturday spent the day ripping out early Summer bedding, planting for Autumn (even though I hope we won't be here by then), ran some errands, then somehow, 4pm rolled around and I was sat in front of the cycling on TV with a glass of rose in my hand. Bloody idiot, I opened it, I drank it, then I drank another. then the evil WW whispered I had better finish the bottle so I could start fresh on Sunday. Bugger, Bugger, BUGGER.

Anyway, woke up with a well-deserved hangover and blotchy skin, so at least I have a clear demonstration of the immediate consequences.

Went to BIL & SIL's joint anniversary and birthday party, and drank soda water - no lime, they weren't really catering for drivers, I'll remember to take a cordial next time!

So, back to day two for me.

Wry, Yumyums look truly disgusting - I want one NOW!

Good to see you back, Mouse, I hope the GP can help with your hip so you can reap more of the benefits of the last three weeks.

I'll pass over some of the other conversations from yesterday!

And today I will not drink

nzgurl · 07/07/2014 08:34

Why oh why did I decide to do this during school holidays lol? Monday done and dusted ...JUST!

Yay you Sweet - I don't know if I could survive a DS & BIL anniversary without alcohol!

One day at a time here, but if I count up the units I HAVENT drunk, then I can go to bed happy xx

SweetLathyrus · 07/07/2014 08:58

Grin nzgurl I survived because they aren't my family, they are DH's. So I adopt a stance of amused distance; DH on the other hand, got utterly rat-arsed - very gobby in the car on the way home and had to have his hand slapped for leaning over and flashing the headlights at a driver who was annoying him - then promptly fell asleep watching the GrandPrix and was sent to bed at 8pm!

Actually, BIL & SIL are very sweet, but some of their friends are very a bit 'Abigail's Party'; I reduced DH to a fit of giggles by leaning over and asking when someone was going to put Demis Rousoss on !
