What was your first dance to at your wedding? Or what is 'your' song?

Our was Ray Charles ' Come Rain or Come Shine'. We danced to it in the courtyard garden of the place we had our smallish reception. It was lovely!

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

kpabbott · 18/05/2014 21:53

The Carpenters - We've Only Just Begun!

Unfortunately, my evening guests (who arrived at 7pm) decided to keep buying me Sambuca, and our 1st dance wasn't until 10pm!

My recollection is somewhat hazy, however, it is captured in all it's glory in our wedding photos!

Fun Loving Criminals cover of We Have All The Time In The World. Funky!

strawberrybonbons · 18/05/2014 21:59

Jack Johnson - better together.

ivykaty44 · 18/05/2014 22:01

Whiter shade of pale

Miriama · 18/05/2014 22:03

Ours was Darling Companion sung by Johnny Cash and June Cash, a great song and not too sentimental!

lemontruffles · 18/05/2014 22:18

Norah Jones - come away with me

I'm sadly now widowed, but this lovely song still transports me out into his beautiful north Welsh landscapes where we used to walk. I am always lifted with happiness and joy, as well as poignant sadess, when I hear it. Simply lovely.

lemontruffles · 18/05/2014 22:19

And our other song was ivor Cutler, I believe in bugs :-D

CheckpointCharlie · 18/05/2014 22:21

Thanks lemon.

Mine was Stand By Me by Ben E King. Love it v much.

LuluJakey1 · 18/05/2014 22:23

That's lovely to have those memories Lemon but sad not to have him with you Thanks Music is so strongly tied into memories I think.

My First, My Last, My Everything...by the old walrus Barry White.

Very true, and no embarrassing slow shuffle in front of everyone for DH-perfect! And he is all those things: Grin

ohfourfoxache · 18/05/2014 22:27

Take That, Rule the World

Perfect! probably outs self

morethanpotatoprints · 18/05/2014 22:30

We didn't dance as didn't have a reception.
Our song is "The way you look Tonight" My dh was playing it as our eyes met, later on that night he told his band mates he was going to marry me. We had never set eyes on each other before.
25 years together this year, married 22.

I know its vomit inducing. Grin

Bindibach · 18/05/2014 22:33

Jennifer Rush...The Power Of Love.Smile

sadwidow28 · 18/05/2014 22:40

When I need Love (Leo Sayer)

I also had it played at DH's funeral because I knew he would never ever really leave me - so I still hold out my hand and I touch him!

FarToGo · 18/05/2014 22:40

Gladys Knight and the pips - you're the best thing that ever happened to me. Cheesy but true Smile

We redeemed our cool selves by having Oasis slide away and Primal Scream movin' on up during/just after the ceremony.

sadwidow28 · 18/05/2014 22:58

Can I add my other 'funeral songs'? (Not to be negative - but to share how our 25 years together gladdened our hearts)

  • My Heart will go on
  • Eternal Flame
  • I will Always Love You

I was widowed aged 46 years old and 14 years on, that final song is still my anthem. Don't be sad for me though, I had the love of my life and was so honoured to have met and married him. Nobody can take his place.

OvertiredandConfused · 18/05/2014 23:04

As Time Goes By - first dance at our reception and DH still requests it from pianists in fancy restaurants on big anniversaries etc. Been married for 15 years.

whoknowswherethetimegoes
I love your name, I love seeing you post on here, as I sing that beautiful song to myself everytime I spot you :)
It reminds me of my dad, growing up, he really loves music, most things that take me back to my childhood are records my dad used to play :)

proudbi · 18/05/2014 23:32

Me and DP's song is how long will I love you - Ellie Goulding and it will be our first dance when we get married this summer.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/05/2014 23:32

aww, thank you. It's nice when songs bring back happy memories.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 18/05/2014 23:34

Ours was 'I've got you under my skin' as sung by Frank Sinatra :) DH picked it. Will always remember his cheeky smile and all the twirling he did of me as we danced to it :)

GinUtero · 18/05/2014 23:47

4 Hero, 'Les Fleur' - the lyrics don't especially have a romantic sentiment, but we both thought it was such a beautiful uplifting song that it was perfect.

ouryve · 18/05/2014 23:48

We didn't dance because that's simply not us.

Churstondeckle · 18/05/2014 23:51

I met my husband in Northern Ireland when we were both serving in the army-our song was-please don't go-by KC and the sunshine band-due to the worst dj in the west midland who forgot it and replaced it with what he thought was an apt substitution we had our wedding dance to super trooper by abba!!!!!
Last summer I had please don't go played at my darling husbands funeral -I gave a eulogy on how much he meant to me and was able to say for one last time-listen they are playing our song
