Our was Ray Charles ' Come Rain or Come Shine'. We danced to it in the courtyard garden of the place we had our smallish reception. It was lovely!

Wonder wall here too. Again dating myself. H used to sing this to me all the time.

LuluJakey1 · 18/05/2014 20:13

Our last dance at the reception was Frank Sinatra's 'Where or When' . It was DH's surprise - he always says this isn't the first time we have ben together; that somewhere in another time we've been in love. It made me very emotional.

My wedding day was the best day of my life...

Walked down the eisle to "Time in a bottle"
1st dance we had a singer and we danced to "The way you look tonight"
Last dance of the night was " I've had the time of my life"

Any of these songs can make me cry now when I hear them.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/05/2014 20:17

Didn't have a first dance (didn't have any dancing in fact, it's not our cup of tea at all) and don't have a song. We don't have much (any?) shared musical taste.

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2014 20:18

Our song is Fairytale of New York by the Pogues Grin

Haven't listened to Sisters of Mercy in years - used to go to all their gigs when I was at uni!

starfishmummy · 18/05/2014 20:18

DH chose the song for our first dance. Eric Clapton, Wonderful Tonight.

When I was expecting ds I had just bought the then new album by The Mavericks so "Just want to Dance the night away" is ds's and my song!!

DeadCert · 18/05/2014 20:23

The Guillemots Made up love song

Tis rather wonderful.

JamJimJam · 18/05/2014 20:27

Ours was 'Baby Can I Hold You' by Tracy Chapman. Lyrics were completely meaningless, but it reminded us of intensely happy times when we were travelling on our gap yah.

MilksteakCharlie · 18/05/2014 20:30

We want You're So Great by Blur, but it's recorded in really poor quality and we're worried it might sound naff. It's always been our song, though. Not sure if we should use it.

BaileysOnRocks · 18/05/2014 20:31

Another for queen best friend! (Well I will be!)

sconeswithcream · 18/05/2014 20:38

stuck on you by lionel Richie.

MaxsMummy2012 · 18/05/2014 20:50

Baby I love you by the Ramones :D

RoadKillBunny · 18/05/2014 20:57

We had Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones.
We both would have liked Who wants to live forever by Queen but thought that it could be seen as a little depressing by some of our older family members who made up a large proportion of guests at was a small 50 guest wedding.
Love wild horses though as I work with horses as well so was fitting!

Lunawolf · 18/05/2014 21:05

First dance at our wedding was to Elvis Presley Can't help falling in love.

My husband looks slightly like Elvis (before the white jumpsuit days) Smile

redundantandbitter · 18/05/2014 21:28

There is a light that never goes out - smiths

Catnuzzle · 18/05/2014 21:32

Our song is Bridge Over Troubled Water, well actually my song about how I feel about DH. Never knew I could love or be loved until I met him

Our first dance was Sting Fields of Gold. We were sat watching tv and it was performed live by sting and we just turned and looked at each other and said 'That's the one!'

I get emotional every time i hear them. I luffs DH. Grin

ThatBloodyWoman · 18/05/2014 21:34

We didn't have a first dance (didn't have a wedding reception), but like pp, if there is a song it'd be Van morrison's 'have I told you lately that I love you.....'.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 18/05/2014 21:41

I actually can't remember what we danced to first, but our song is Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits. Which is ironic as we can't stand them.

Pilgit · 18/05/2014 21:44

Share the darkness by the saw doctors. Lovely song but I think it's about a booty call! Suited us. Still does.

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 18/05/2014 21:50

touch.dailymotion.com/video/x16f0ld_toots-the-maytals-sweet-and-dandy_music

not married but if we do first dance will be Toots and the Maytals - Sweet and Dandy :-)

morningsarepants · 18/05/2014 21:51

Our first dance was Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong), cue lots of cooing from the older members of both families!
But the song that always makes me think of DH is You Are My Kind by Santana,

"Cause you are my kind
You're all that I want
Here in this life
Until we are gone
Our breath and our skin
Our hearts and our minds
They're one and the same
You are my kind"

I never thought I'd ever find anyone right for me so this one gets me every time Smile
