The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Wading Through Winter Blues Without The Booze!

I'm Mouse, nice to meet YOU. Smile

This is a thread for those who want to give up drink completely, or are maybe thinking about doing controlled drinking, or cutting down slowly, it's all up to you. And of course all addictions, so if you are taking drugs of any kind, prescription or otherwise, you're very welcome here too!

You know your limits, you know what is required, it's all in YOUR hands.

Whatever your goal, you'll find unconditional support here. Always. :)

There will be talk of drinking quite often and those who fall off the Bus will post about it, so if that is going to jeopardise your chances of complete sobriety, then maybe the DRY threads would suit you better, as they are complete abstainers, but EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE :)

There are two sayings that we rather like here -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

For those of you who'd like some history, here is the very first thread and the reason that we're all here now. FIRST EVER THREAD

And the most recent so you can work your way back through time IS JUST HERE

The Bus may be 'mythical', but the support is real, it is honest and it will help you to achieve what it is that YOU seek, as long as you are honest with us, but mostly, YOURSELF

Mouse xxx

Im agree with beaches. Pick areas near to sea/coastline. So wish I lived near the sea, love it.
Fess up time 1/2 bottle down due to stress and family visitors who are staying over meaning more stress. Want to stop now so have opened a bottle of de alcoholised red wine. It tastes bloody awful but it might help!!

ruralreynard · 01/03/2014 16:56

mouse hope you are OK xx

beachestoexplore · 01/03/2014 17:08

You may find the choice is narrowed down for you, if they have some availability somewhere. I would try and keep an open mind babe and trust that where there's a space, there's an opportunity. Smile. On another subject can you please do a 'no snow' dance for me, I can't take any more shovelling Grin

beachestoexplore · 01/03/2014 17:11

Oops, was on last page still. Hi rural, sympathize with the house visitors, good idea to try the vinegar de-alcoholized wine as a distraction. Hang in there babe xxx

beachestoexplore · 01/03/2014 17:18

Sorry baby I also missed you. I completely agree about being baffled at the quick decline into old habits despite knowing all the benefits of not drinking. That WW is convincing and tempting. How about a dry March? If it is to late for today then hope and soc are starting tomorrow. Would be really good to have you Smile

I'll be quiet now, for a bit at least Grin

Imdoingthis · 01/03/2014 17:21

ruralreynard · 01/03/2014 17:33

Go on then. Put me on dry March list from tomorrow. Confidence level zero but really want to do it so I'll give it a go. Smile

beachestoexplore · 01/03/2014 17:38

Grin well Im, even if the snow stays, you made my day!!

Please do a list, I love a list me. You can put rural right at the top. Grin

Fairenuff · 01/03/2014 17:39

Put me on the list please. I really want to shift some more weight and not drinking helps to keep me focussed on my good diet. I'm actually planning on pushing right through to Good Friday but will just take it one day at a time for now.

Welcome back penguin (did I know you under your old name? Probably, have been on this old bus for years Smile).

Fairenuff · 01/03/2014 17:41

Hi quick check in, had a sober week but will be drinking tonight. If I could keep my drinking to weekends I'd be fine but old habits quickly creep in....

Pretty stressful week, found out my tax credits have been cancelled in error but lord knows how long it will take to reinstate them. My wages cover the bills but that's it, tax credits paid for food. H has no money so it's down to me to manage somehow...also rumours of redundancy at work so I'm quite pleased I've not dived into the wine. Certainty feel like it!

On a brighter note I've lost a little weight so the gym sessions are paying off. Not so happy that I spotted an ex at my gym, really annoyed as I know it'll put me off going. It doesn't take much!

Imdoingthis · 01/03/2014 18:16

Beaches did ya say soc and someone Seles was starting tommorow?

Imdoingthis · 01/03/2014 18:16

spanna41 · 01/03/2014 18:54

Day 1 for me today - Dry March here we come Grin WW is already getting louder, starting with a few whispers at about midday, she's a fucking bitch ! Had a good session with friends last night and now I have to stop, as I need a clear head for next week. Can't believe that we won't be here in our lovely house this time next week Shock I'm quite freaked out but I have some solid lists on the go which I'm adding to all the time.

I'm pop me on the list poppet - by the way I'm, 15 days is amazing pat yourself on the back, you are doing brill Grin I live on the coast and I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm south and we do get warmer weather down here in the summer Smile Beach is free entertainment for your DCs Smile, all the fresh air and bloody seagulls Smile I highly recommend it - I think you'll be getting the picture by now......

Beaches how you doing Babe? Today Day 1 is really hard, I've been right back into drinking every day Sad and I know it's not good for me - urgh!!!

Baby Babe I'm sorry you've not been well and symptoms are flairing. Hang in there and stick with us, keep posting Smile

Hello all you lovely Brave Babes

babyjane1 · 01/03/2014 19:00

beaches a dry March sounds like just the job, every time I come back on thread I realise how much you guys help and support me. I feel very very low at the moment and intend to start eating better and excercising (when my malfunctioning bowel permits) and stop feeling sorry for myself. I've been stuck in the house for 9 days with pain, piles and the runs and these are all triggers BUT tomorrow I will rise from the ashes and start all over again, thanks babes for your unconditional support xxx

Yes put me on please. Also you Im and you can put your big head start on!

Spanna I am good thanks babe, managed to not drink last night but that was the first night for over a week. It is always a bit of a white knuckle evening and I get a bit arsey too - you know the why shouldn't I? sulk Blush However, this morning was worth it. I am definitely spurred on at the thought of you and other babes doing it too.

anne it stinks about the tax credits, I hope they sort it out for you soon. Good news about the weight loss though, well done!
