The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Travelling Far And Wide, With Sobriety In Mind.

1000 replies

Mouseface · 04/09/2013 15:02

Welcome to the Bus one and all! I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes :)

We have a new line that we're taking with us on every journey, thanks to one of our wonderful Babes, Curry -

Alcohol Fosters Inertia.

So when you're drinking excessively, nothing changes, or improves, the sharp edges of our lives just becomes that little bit less in focus, blurred and all you feel is numb. Then like shit (emotionally, as well as physically) if you're honest! Who wants that?

You are only ever better/pacified/happy whilst the alcohol is in your system. And that doesn't last........... it's not a cure, it's a quick fix. A sticking plaster.

So, if you think you're drinking too much, and want some friendly advice, or just to come and have a chat, get to know others who are just like you, who won't judge or criticise you, then hop on board! :)

We're a really mixed bunch and all at different stages of our journey to find sobriety or certainly drinking in a more controlled, less dangerous way.

And, if you'd like to see where we've been so far, have a look at the links below :)

conquita you did make me laugh.

Good idea to have a mantra, keep saying it (but probably best to just say it in your head) Grin

Isinde Friday is a good day to stop. It sets you up for the weekend and you will be feeling refreshed and ready to face the week on Monday. So Day 1 today?

Ratatouille it's so lovely to see on your thread so many people who have successfully and happily stopped drinking. We don't hear a lot from them in rl for the reasons that you raised.

They are wonderful, inspiring people and should shout their sobriety from the rooftops.

Anyway, I hope you will post with us on the bus for your Day 1 today Smile

Ps if you feel it's appropriate, perhaps you could link your thread on this one?

Hi all babes welcome all newbies.
Ma well done, but wouldn't you kill for a slice of toast? I said a while ago that I find it easier to resist ww when I have to add it in to the mix of resisting other things iyswim. I'm LCing as well, but I can't do without my morning cuppa and half a sugar. Anyway day 4/7 for me, and it will be 5/7 this week because I'm driving on Sat nite. It is becoming easier to have AF nights, I used to feel really happy if I managed one, and that was rare Blush I'm knitting too, just random knitting, it's getting bigger and bigger and fuck knows what it's eventually going to be. The dog's got his eye on it, I think he'll drag it into his basket at some point.

Inde Sorry to hear you're feeling cr*p, that was me Tues morning after a night discussing finances and suchlike. I have got to find a job somehow, but they are as rare as hen's teeth out here. Felt like nothing on earth all Tuesday. Still, you know the drill lovely girl, plenty of water, don't start beating yourself up about it, think of a great weekend with DP and twinbabygirlies. Look, pop over for coffee, I haven't got biscuits, but I've got cheese (with chillies in how fab is THAT), and boiled eggs. See ya in an hour?

Mouse I know you're busy, here and there with Nemo. Have a great weekend.

Sorry not to namecheck everypeeps, but all have a great weekend and be good to yourselves.

I want wine :( f*cking tennents have just had 1400 euro of landscaping done and had the bill sent to me. Now they are not answering the phone. I hate these people. What the f next, order a load of new furniture and bill me for that? They are going to get a Vandelay special earful when I get hold of them and find themselves 1400 poorer this month and maybe homeless to boot. They are treating me with utter contempt. Arseholes - Aaaargh :(

ArtVandelay · 13/09/2013 11:38

Sorry, good morning babes (weak smile)

ArtVandelay · 13/09/2013 11:39

So I need to stay sober so I can go postal later when I get hold of them.

babyjane1 · 13/09/2013 12:36

art cheeky buggers, hardly essential repairs, don't pay a penny xxxx

ArtVandelay · 13/09/2013 13:42

Baby, its just one more thing they've done. I cant understand these people... I can never decide if they are evil or just so stupid and naive that they haven't a clue how ridiculous and offensive they are. Makes me weary. However, not going to drink over such a worthless pair - take that WW (kicks WW in front bottom) x x x

babyjane1 · 13/09/2013 16:31

art fighting talk, using it against the ww, bloody genius xxx

Fairenuff · 13/09/2013 16:37

Am I the only one starting to feel a tiny bit sorry for the ww after all the beatings she's been getting lately Grin

Yeah, you're right, sock it to her Grin

babyjane1 · 13/09/2013 17:58

My kindle is bashed to buggery, that's what I hit her with, my weapon of choice, she stands no chance against us newly
Fit, healthy, determined ladies, ooooops hang on HHIIIIIYYYAAAA, a karate kick for good measure, she's outta here xxxxx

ArtVandelay · 13/09/2013 18:34

:) I love this thread.

I had a bath and went to bed at 6pm. Pathetic! Just so worn out from my rubbish day. I spoke to my renter, she can't remember what happened apparently, and she is exhausted, her work is so difficult dontcha know.... Cloud cuckoo land, just going to sort it all out by email. I give up, dealing with mad people is just too exhausting. DH offered to get wine but I've just told him I think I'm getting flu so I need to rest. I'm not, I just feel weak and wiped out!

Tomorrow will be a better day and I will wake up on day 8 of AF - today is 2 weeks since I was last pissed. I will be here, in my pyjamas, for most of the evening if any babe wants to share my fainting couch and cologne soaked hankie.

Fairenuff · 13/09/2013 20:05

Hahaha I am proper laughing at that karate kick baby Grin So funny.

And Art pretending to be coming down with flu. Brilliant!

Isn't it strange being so dark already. It feels like 10pm already.

dementedma · 13/09/2013 20:20

Sticking to low carb foodwise but ww has sabotaged me. Probably undone all my good work. Have lost a few pounds so of course am hitting the self destruct button sigh

ArtVandelay · 13/09/2013 21:01

Yes Faire but it sort of feels all snuggly being indoors (in bed) looking out at the dark. Ma, its amazing you are managing low carb as well as booting the WW, im eating stacks and its all mashed potato, pastry, pudding type things. We made lemonade today - half a bag of sugar... Oh well, I'll just focus on the fruit part :)

How's everyone's knitting and reading and stitching coming on?

OMGWillSucceed · 13/09/2013 21:22

Hi art annoyed with self although going to bed quite soon had bot wine tonite. Always feel happier when dont. Knitting arrives monday. Will be good someday soon!!

ArtVandelay · 13/09/2013 21:44

Hi OMG, have a big glass of water and don't beat yourself up, tomorrow is a new day. What are you going to knit?

OMGWillSucceed · 13/09/2013 21:51

OMGWillSucceed · 13/09/2013 21:53

Ps just ate loads chocolate as well so v annoyed at self and off to bed! Will hopefully be better tomorrow. Nite all xxxx

Anneisnotmyname · 13/09/2013 22:00

Oh I so want a glass of wine :( I've not one as no wine in the house but if there was I would drink it. I know why, im tired, I've just got in from work, it's Friday night. I know I'll be glad in the morning that I wasn't able to drink - and I am pleased I didn't give into the ww and get a bottle on the way home- but right now I feel deprived....

OMGWillSucceed · 13/09/2013 22:08

U will feel better I wish I hadnt!! Swirching off now nite nite!!!

thornrose · 13/09/2013 22:13

I've managed to get through 5 days, Friday is generally when I give in. Saturday is going to be high risk for me. I feel headachey, spotty and irritable but not sure if it's connected!

Anne you'll be so glad tomorrow.

I used the Alan Carr method to stop smoking and the main way it worked was to turn round the feeling of missing out. It doesn't seem to work for me for wine though and that's why I keep failing.

CrabbyBigBottom · 14/09/2013 00:15

Ma I still lost weight last bootcamp whilst drinking wine. You'll lose more if you don't drink, obviously, but don't let falling off the wine wagon make you fall off the low carb wagon too. Wink
