cafecito · 30/05/2013 00:23

Hello MrsShrek,hello stars, hello jynier!

what's troubling you jynier?

stars- dd sounds like a blast whenever she's around Smile

nothing sorted here, just an unending state of terror Grin I know it's right that they negative mark, and don't let you through til you get around 65% even after negative marking, but that's very improbable at the moment. I am just so grumpy! please forgive grumpfulness Smile

MrsShrek3 · 30/05/2013 00:54

I'm lurking but reading and nodding. MIL died early hrs this morning so am not v chatty, sorry.

cafecito · 30/05/2013 00:59

Oh gosh MrsShrek I don't know what to say. I am so, so sorry - that's terrible. Sad (((( ))))) it sounds so trite to say I am very sorry, but I am. You've been through so much. This is a safe place for you to talk if you want to, I remember when exP's mum died it was very difficult as he reacted very badly to it, thoughts with you, DH and your family x

jynier · 30/05/2013 01:49

MrsShrek - so very sorry about your MIL; may she Rest in Peace. Sending sincere condolences to you and your family. Your husband must be devastated - give him a hug from me! x

MrsShrek3 · 30/05/2013 03:04

he's been talking non stop for 3 hours Smile
we've hugged, we've cried together, we've talked about all sorts of memories. It's still surreal though. keep thinking that next week it will all be back to normal again Confused

Enough of that. what are the rest of you up to? cafe, it all sounds like hard work Shock and stars, are you on incessant partying holiday by any chance?Grin Grin

jynier · 30/05/2013 03:58

I can't sleep knowing that my beloved 2DDs and 3GC are just up the road and I can't go near them!!! DD1, her H and darling little GD are leaving on Sunday to spend the last week of their holiday somewhere else; am cursing myself for being ill!!!

Minimammoth · 30/05/2013 07:58

So sorry to hear about your sad loss Mrs. (())s for both you and Shrek. It's good that you are both talking you memories.
Jynier get yourself a small tent, park it on the lawn a little away from main happening and get them to wait on you. Grin
Cafe what is Iris?

themidwife · 30/05/2013 08:32

Morning! Sorry to hear about MIL Mrs. Hope your DH feels better thus morning after some sleep. ThanksThanks

It must be hard to get through Cafe - I don't know how you do it to be honest.

Jynier - why can't you see the DGCs? I don't understand why you can't? Is it something really serious & contagious?

Morning everyone else! I'm still tired too old for this partying malarkey Smile

themidwife · 30/05/2013 08:35

Mini - Iris is a film about Iris Murdoch & Alzheimer's. Kate Winslet plays the young Iris & Judi Dench plays the old Iris & Jim Broadbent her partner. Brilliant film!!

Minimammoth · 30/05/2013 08:51

Ah yes, That Iris. I was thinking it was some clever medical acronym.

themidwife · 30/05/2013 09:34

Ha ha yes - acronyms! During my midwifery training we did medical & surgical placements & a friend asked what ARM meant in some notes as for us that means breaking someone's waters. The nurse looked bewildered & replied arm, you know, attached to the shoulder?!! stupid student midwife GrinGrinGrin

MrsShrek3 · 30/05/2013 09:46

Grin midwife

KittyAndTheFontanelles · 30/05/2013 10:18

Oh Mrs, oh I'm so sorry. After all you have been through. I'll say some for your family and mother-in-law. I wish we could do something. I don't know what to suggest. x Thanks

Mini, Iris is the film depicting Iris Murdoch's life. She had Alzheimer's and was cared for by her husband, the writer John Bayley. I think it was written by him actually.

Grin at 'ARM'

jynier, agree you should go and see them - doctor's orders! take a whopping dose of vitamin c (depending on symptoms). Most GI things are just in your own microbiome so thus unless it's some particularly virulent virus, you are not contagious.

starsandunicorns · 30/05/2013 14:41

themidwife · 30/05/2013 17:40

jynier · 30/05/2013 23:21

Hahaha! cafe! I have been taking everything!!!

Resigned to the fact that I won't be able to see them as still not well.

For anyone affected by Alzheimer's, there will be a play on Radio 4 tomorrow afternoon at 2.15 p.m. entitled "Notes to Self." It's based on real experiences (according to the write-up in RT).
