The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Whacking The Wine Witch Round The Chops (With Barry The Squid).

Hello, I'm Mouse :)

I'm one of the Brave Babes who's travelling on this wonderful, magical, mysterious Bus, trying to hold onto my sobriety for me, and for my family.

I do drink but thanks to this Bus, I've kicked the vodka addiction into touch and the evil WineWitch has been banished far, far away so I now drink in a controlled manner, One Day At A Time. :)

By that, I mean that just for today, I won't be drinking. Tomorrow, however, I will be because it's a very special occasion. The day after will be dealt with when I wake, and the day after that, the day after etc.....

We're a Bus filled with some fantastic posters, some who drink, some who don't touch a drop ever and some who are on/off drinkers who have lovely warm seats in the side-car, some are hanging onto the roof-rack by the tips of their fingers and trying their best to resist the dreaded WineWitch's charms night after night. But they are trying, and that's all that any of us can do, is keep trying, keep starting again!

So, if you think that you're drinking too much (you probably are) why not come and say hi? We won't bite - unless you ask very nicely, manners cost nothing Wink.

There's lots of seats so pick whichever one you like and have a Brew. Just jump in, we're not a judgemental pack of quiche makers Wink

And here's a bit of light reading for you.... our latest thread and the very first one, the reason we're all here.

A smug-smock Grin

Just have to make sure I don't become complacent and let it sneak up again...

How are you doing isinde

curryeater · 20/05/2013 14:30

Hello all

Ma - What great news about Richard.

Full and Lemon - sorry to hear about job stress.

I am not doing well - 3 nights hard drinking - feeling pretty blue right now.

Mouseface · 20/05/2013 14:38

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

Alreet CJeers? Well the feck done on the 5 years, I am so super in awe of you and all that you've done to get where you are today. I hope that you are very proud of yourself. :) xx

Lemony - that is absolutely shocking about your job! Can they do that? I'm with IsinDe on the way they've just done that without any prior warning or discussion. Have you found anymore out since you posted? I know you don't want to go into too much detail so that you don't out yourself but you could do with some RL advice on employment law etc........... :( xx

Well done Joey - that's a great post to read from you! :) xx

Ladame - I am going over to Menopause to see if there is still a regular thread on the go there that I can hop onto. I'm so so so fed up of feeling like this.

venus - you can have it, the lot! Seriously, argh. My breasticles are so so so sore, I feel like a teen again or pregnant, of which I am neither!

Nika - 21 days is bloody brilliant! You should be so so so very pleased with your kicking ass of the WineWitch :) xx

Off for a short school meeting shortly. Blazing guns at the ready should I need them.......

Wish me luck! :) Be back later. xx

Just a quickie to answer some questions -

The field I'm in forbids joining a union. It is not a UK firm. They can do what they bloody well please (they feel). It is the same "type" of job, but in a different area of work, so I know nothing about it and have no expertise. I'm coming to terms with it. At least I have a job.....

mouse Keep those guns levelled at groin level should you need them Wink

greeneyed · 20/05/2013 14:47

curry what is your plan? Are you going to drink tonight? You did so well last week. I too am hauling myself back out the sidecar today. 3 AF days last week, hoping to make it 4 this. What's happening with the house?

curryeater · 20/05/2013 14:58

Hi greeny,
no drinking tonight. I count the week's drinking from Monday to Sunday. Last week I didn't drink on Monday - thursday (or the sunday before but that was in the previous week's count) thinking that a reasonable plan would be to limit drinking to 3 nights and that way stay within moderate drinking guidelines. Of course this only works if you only drink moderately on those nights.
This week try again. maybe not. maybe need to just stop. for now, odaat.

The house! well that all looks ok right now. part of my problem - gasping relief and immoderate reward drinking
30 units in a weekend I reckon. so sick of this.

Hi gang, I'm just checking in. I've only drunk one night since starting the ADs, and that was saturday when we had people over for dinner. I still drank too much (as did everyone else), but at least it was in a slightly civilised context, rather than me getting pissed in a room on my own.

I'm still having moments when I'd quite like a drink, but it's far easier to resist than before. I don't feel desperate for a drink anymore.

I don't know what's happening with DP either - if we're definitely going to split up or try to patch things together, but I've taken the decision not to make a decision about that just yet. Grin

curry good news about your house.

I hope you get your job sorted Lemon, that sounds very stressful indeed.

alias I really like the idea of your Fuck It button. Grin

Brilliantly well done on your five years, CJ!

fullofhopefullness · 20/05/2013 16:53

Hi all - lemony sincere empathies on job-not easy at all. I need to take my own advice but all we can do is try and not let it effect our health and life in general!

fullofhopefullness · 20/05/2013 16:59

Ps meant sympathy and empathy!!

Ladame · 20/05/2013 17:03

Isinde But, when you think about it, who would we want to win? They are both about as bad as each other Grin.

Mouse Have PM'd you.

Isinde and everyone ... sorry that sounded flippant and I didn't mean to be. But, sometimes you can resist the WW, but the Hormental Monster can be with you for years.

Thanks all

No temptation tonight. Sitting here with a nice cold glass of water and feeling good about that.
Hi Jesus. Maybe I have to follow your example and give up for good.
Good to see you.

Mintyy · 20/05/2013 20:32

Lovely to see you JWN. The bender was but a tiny blip! 4 YEARS!!! Blimey Flowers

dementedma · 20/05/2013 20:34

Just checking in from the sidecar as usual. Managed a run tonight under a very heavy thundery sky so am pleased to have got that back on track.
Reading all your posts but just too tired to name check everyone - love you all and your ongoing concern for Richard is so supportive and amazing.
Today he texted to say he won the pool competition last night, is now in charge of his own medication and has been to AA. I am so very proud of him. However, starting to stress about where he will go when he gets out, where will he live? I don't have the answers to that one yet....

venusandmars · 20/05/2013 21:14

ma in this, as in all things - ONE DAY AT A TIME. What will happen nest ofr you, for me, for Richard? Who knows. But today, tonight.... each of us know the answer to that one. And ofr tongiht (whatever the answer is) that is enough.
