MrsHoarder · 07/02/2013 02:37

Hope you get that phone call tomorrow stars.

ds has gone on sleep stroke do despite Tyre fact that my alarm clock is set for 5:45 we are gently bouncing in the hope he will sleep before then. And i'm planning final changes to my complaint email to my university department.

starsandunicorns · 07/02/2013 03:02

Thankyou Cafecito and MrsHoarder well given up on sleep dog and dp began a snorning compation so snuggled under blanket in lounge with brew and doing so colouring ( posh book. Stain glass colouring book) just choosen a page to do which can be sent to the mother for her birthday Grin Mrs Hoarder sleep strike ( does your ds have a union rep you could plead to ) Grin is the worst my dd1 did that for the first 4 yrs she would do a 40 min nap then up for five hours

MrsHoarder · 07/02/2013 03:10

I'd love a union. I'd she anything for him to sleep right now (especially as giving unlimited cuddles and boob isn't exactly demanding). Can't really grumble though, he's usually a fab sleeper, just the croup at the weekend has muddled him up.

starsandunicorns · 07/02/2013 03:27

Croup is awful bless him dd1 had bad ear nose and thoart probs when a toddler of the joys of watching pingu at 3am it got to the point I could work out which esp she was watching by the music and pingu talk. Do remmber her saying mummy open your eyes your not watching it I replied that I was and told her which esp it was my dds face was in awe with the special power of watching stuff with both eyes closed :)

InTheNightGarden · 07/02/2013 03:52

Pumping milk out my boobies for 5 day old ds who otherwise chomps holes in my nips!!! :)

jynier · 07/02/2013 04:08

... hi, everyone! Can't sleep so just dropping in ...

cafecito · 07/02/2013 04:10

...trying desperately not to MN... trying to cram pharmacology... sigh... need coffee...

InTheNightGarden- congratulations!! 5 days *ooooohhh

MrsHoarder · 07/02/2013 04:11

Well DS is not asleep in his cot and I'm writting the dreaded email on the laptop. And dunking McVities breakfast biscuits in my hot milk DH scoffed all the Galaxy.

That much Pingu sounds horrific, stars. Isn't it against the Geneva convention or something? Smile

Congratulations InTheNightGarden. Have you got all the lanoish etc to keep your nipples in full working order? It is soo much easier past the 6 week mark.

jynier · 07/02/2013 04:29

cafecito - often see your posts but can't work out what you do! Are you in the UK?

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 07/02/2013 04:30

I am feeling ill and stressed. Have finally given up all attempts at sleeping Nd moved downstairs to the sofa. Am stressed because I have spent the day supporting colleagues in 121 meetings with our director and HR re redundancy (starting with my own, where I supported myself!). Now stressing about the volume of work I need to complete before close down, plus possible need to find a new job in six weeks time. Plus currently TTC #2 and have spotted EWCM and having suspected ovulation cramps and DH went to bed early and is sound asleep, when he should be attempting to impregnate me!

Feeling better for a little moan on MN thought. :) Now going to get a nice Brew and clear some work emails...

equinox · 07/02/2013 04:33

In the winter I go to bed at 9 p.m. and wake up 3 or 4 a.m. as I only need c 6 hours sleep!

Once spring is here I generally go to bed 10 or 1030 but even then I am still up by 5 as I don't need more than 6 hours sleep now I am the tender age of 49!!!!

MrsHoarder · 07/02/2013 04:38

YorkshireTeaDrinker: I like your taste, we have only Yorkshire tea in this house.

As for redundancy, you have my sympathies. Don't stress about work needing completing too much: if they needed you to work for longer then they shouldn't have made you redundant. So put down the work emails (I assume they don't pay you for the early hours of the morning) and get yourself a nice book.

And having sent my complaint email Sad I'm getting on with some programming. Much less stressful.

StairsInTheNight · 07/02/2013 04:45

just logging in, the drugs did not work tonight Sad. I sort of woke up thinking over stuff that annoys me and need to MN a bit to turn brain off. Cafecico i hope you are asleep now. Or working!

starsandunicorns · 07/02/2013 04:52

MrsHorder Pingu was the best choice as dd1 grew she got into the new program of the teletubbies however she stayed faithful to pingu ( inculding collecting penguins) ( a ceral had a collection to get from their box one penguin a box one year I have never eaten so much cearal in my life) she fell out of pingu when she discovered Shaun the sheep at 14 yrs old !! Yorkshire tea drinker that must be so stressful for you Sad

starsandunicorns · 07/02/2013 04:55

Waves to Stairs hope you get to de- stress Smile

singaporeswing · 07/02/2013 05:10

In Singapore, should be in work but woke up at 3am with the most awful stomach cramps, nausea and upset stomach. Feeling slightly better now (1pm) but not gone into work.

Boss will probably be pissed off that I've not gone in (I had a week off with kidney stones before Christmas and I NEVER get ill) but both he and my colleague have young babies, I don't want to pass anything on to them!

Doing work from home but need someone to assuage my guilt please!

cafecito · 07/02/2013 05:10

I am but a lowly medical student, jynier I am in the UK, alas...

not asleep here, but about 4 hours behind allotted schedule before this morning's exam (OK more like 4 months behind, but I had hoped to have finished pharmacology by 1am...)

FAIL FAIL FAIL *sobs

I am jealous of the tea and biscuits- I just grappled with the coffee machine, revolting stuff and it did not give me change

sorry for those who are stressed

cafecito · 07/02/2013 05:12

singapore- I had a boss like that in my old firm. I never NEVER once took a day off sick. I then had a half day off.... and he sulked for a week...tsssk

don't work from home, eat biscuits and MN instead Grin I wish more colleagues were as considerate as you. The amount of people who go in sick and infect everyone else is just too high, very selfish of them

cafecito · 07/02/2013 05:18

caffeine is a glycine antagonist...

jynier · 07/02/2013 05:20

cafecito I'm an old lady! You spend far too much time on MN when you are in the hospital - how do you get away with it?

singaporeswing · 07/02/2013 05:22

Cafecito - I never used to get ill or have days off, but since moving here and starting my job in October, I've had 7 days off with illness. When I think of it that way, maybe it does look like I'm taking the piss!

Thank you for your kind words, I'm going to switch off for an hour and watch CSI! Good luck with your cramming.

cafecito · 07/02/2013 05:34

's alright jynier, I don't do it when I'm on duty (I do night shifts sometimes, 12 hours... eeeuurrgh) I only do it when I am studying or on a break- I'm somewhat nocturnal, I find studying at night much better than in the day (DS-permitting, that is)

thanks singapore- no no no, 7 days is not taking the piss at all!!! honestly that is nothing compared to the average employee, you have very high standards of yourself - love CSI (the original vegas one I hope) :)

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 07/02/2013 05:35

we are here tooSmile We've been up for an hour so far and baby just starting to settle. She was really restless for the first hour. Didn't help that she leant right back whilst I was carrying her in the dark and she nearly fell out of my arms. I only had her by the legs and she swung right out Sad it must have hurt her back or neck. Poor lambkin.

cafe I'm going to send you a thermos of black gold. You shouldn't be relying on shoddy machines which don't deliver. Poor quality caffeine makes me as angry as a luke warm shower Angry
Good luck with your exam Wink
stern words awaiting here if you need to be persuaded back to your books Grin

stairs sorry about the drug fail Sad

stars sorry about your situation and I hope you get that call tomorrow Sad

It's far too easy for me to do emoticons on this app so sorry if I abuse them. I'm sure the novelty will wear off soonHmm

jynier · 07/02/2013 05:38

but Cafetino - you must be receiving a very handsome remuneration for all of these night shifts! Do you work for an agency?

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 07/02/2013 05:41

so sorry about tour situation too Yorkshireteadrinker Sad
I we.t through the same a few years back so I know how stressful it is. So good of you to be supporting other colleagues though. I wish you the best outcomeThanks

Singapore say hello to grissom for me Grin

we are making our way through the entire box sets at the moment. Lovelovelove the original Vegas ones.

get well soon Smile
