Men who don't watch porn

I do not believe all men watch porn.

However I wonder why they dont with it now being the "norm"?

Was there never any interest in the first place? Has it lost its shine? Is it a for feminist reasons?

Or is it more of a case of resisting temptation? As in they do want to watch but guilt and/or morals stop them? Fear of being caught?

We live in a time when we are constantly fed the message all men watch porn so nobody ever discusses those that don't watch it.

So if they don't think they're being exploited but you do, your opinion means more?

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 19:34

and we are saying that they would probably say "yes, I love it"

whether they mean it would be different.

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 19:36

many abused women dont think they are in abusive relationships. but they are. I am not saying that they ARE being exploited, but they work in an industry that is built on trafficking, rape, exploitation and abuse. and you think thats ok.

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 19:36

did you even read the links I posted?

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 19:38

They could love it, it seems you are happy to tell me how a woman, who you don't know, feels about things. She is an individual, she will have her own mind. She can make her own mind up, you seem to be treating her like an idiot who doesn't know her own mind, seemingly because you don't like what she does.

ClaireBuckler · 12/12/2012 19:40

Hello.... I am interested in how you are reaching your opinions about Pornstars? Do you work in the industry? No, I didn't think so.
Although there are some terrible things going on in the world, including human trafficking for sex etc. Main stream porn is not one of them. The girls are well paid, well looked after and yes, many of them actually enjoy it. You are trying to argue with stereotypes and no facts.

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 19:40

Blame, i didn't read them all because im on my phone. It isn't the case with every pornstar/porn film.

Claire, that's what porn im on about. Mainstream porn, not child rape porn.

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 19:43

Yeah i read some links, you seem to think that it applies to everything porn related.

Blame et al, if you think that porn supporters are pro abuse, trafficking etc. then do you think that fashion supporters are pro anorexia, bulemia etc?

Andula · 12/12/2012 19:45

are people who buy cheap clothes pro-child labour?

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 19:45

Do you work in the mainstream porn industry Mrs?

badinage · 12/12/2012 19:45

Clarify please what you mean by 'mainstream porn'.

DVDs?

Or the stuff that comes up in a google search and can be viewed on the web?

And Claire - unless you are describing minors, in which case the term 'girls' is unfortunately accurate, adult females are called women.

ClaireBuckler · 12/12/2012 19:45

MrsWolowitz. I have studied and been involved in pornography in great detail for part of my dissertation years back, please don't patronise me. Perhaps I will bang my head against the wall about another hysterical woman and her totally out of perspective opinions.

you forget to add AND I DON'T LIKE IT AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE DO SO I'LL FIND A REASON TO GET ANGRY ABOUT IT WITHOUT SOUNDING MAD

ClaireBuckler · 12/12/2012 19:48

How do we stand on gay porn?

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 19:49

Mrs i buy clothes too, presumably im funding the more shadier parts of the fashion industry? As its all the same thing.

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 19:49

fgs, I am not going to go through the whole argument again.

the porn industry is built on abuse, exploitation and misogyny. there may be many layers, but the root is rotten. I do not believe that anyone grows up wanting to make porn films, any more than I believe that prostitutes dream of selling their bodies (and I genuinely dont see any difference. its sex for money) I do not agree with the representation of women. I do not agree with women being used for male pleasure. I believe that heavy use of porn affects your relationships and desensitizes you.

and now I'm really going, because, honestly, I am sick of banging my head against the wall and I feel a bit sick now.

BelaLugosisShed · 12/12/2012 19:49

Jenna Jameson changed her opinions once she left the porn industry, the internet has plenty of ex porn performers who are now dedicated to revealing the truth about the physical and emotional damage done.
There is a channel 4 documentary about a woman called Felicity who wanted to be a porn star, her first "interview" involved her being raped by a porn producer, he was so arrogant, so shameless, that he did it in full view of the cameras and crew filming the documentary.

Claire, have you got first hand knowledge of the L.A. based porn industry?

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 19:50

No need to start telling people to Fuck off lol
