Men who don't watch porn

FBworry · 10/12/2012 19:40

I do not believe all men watch porn.

However I wonder why they dont with it now being the "norm"?

Was there never any interest in the first place? Has it lost its shine? Is it a for feminist reasons?

Or is it more of a case of resisting temptation? As in they do want to watch but guilt and/or morals stop them? Fear of being caught?

We live in a time when we are constantly fed the message all men watch porn so nobody ever discusses those that don't watch it.

selfdoubt - what do you consider to be 'normal sex'

SueFawley · 12/12/2012 17:10

shoesme, are you saying that if it was the drink talking, that makes it ok to speak to women like that?

Andula · 12/12/2012 17:11

my point wasn't meant to be nasty at all, just that it's possible to have sex any way you want

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 12/12/2012 17:13

Ah, BigBo, not the bean flicking one?

Selfdoubt · 12/12/2012 17:16

Something that actually isn't in these porn clips. Normal sex to me, is something that both participants actually, you know, enjoy.

I get Andula that you aren't a teen/young adult. It is this generation who have grown up with too easy access to porn, and they don't search out the decent, non exploitative porn. They watch whatever they get their hands on. It is getting much worse than what it was. The amount of times I was actually screaming out in pain rather than in bliss...

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 17:16

Of course not Sue.

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 17:18

selfdoubt, thats horrible Sad Angry

iwasyou · 12/12/2012 17:21

I believe there are men who don't use porn.

I believe there are men who do use porn.

I believe there are men who use porn and lie to their partners about it.

I found out that my DH had used porn occasionally - when working away - although I had always believed him previously when he said he never had. Not a pleasant discovery. There must be other women like me around.

Andula · 12/12/2012 17:26

It may be easier to get hold of now but it was still prevalent in the 90's when I was a teenager, lads used to talk about it and share videos/DVDs, it's not that much different. If anything, I'd say it's mainstream sexualistion of young people that has changed attitudes. The sad thing is, women's magazines are the biggest culprits, and I'd hazard a guess that a high percentage of women on here read them.

Oblomov · 12/12/2012 17:26

I didn't even know what "pearl necklace, filming" was and had to look it up. How sad is that. And the pearl necklace seems pretty obvious, but the filming? Do we just mean 'filming'?
I know I sound very old here, but I am very saddened when my nieces tell me of their sexual experiences and it all sounds so porny, so hair-free, so unloving, so un-natural sex. Makes me really sad.
Not that we can change it. But i just want it AKNOWLEDGED that this makes me VERY VERY SAD. Young people don't seem to know what good loving sex is, or even a good hard shag, seems to have by-passed them.
If that doesn't make you sad, there is seriously something wrong with you.

seeker · 12/12/2012 17:43

Andula.

So I conclude that you don't care about the women in the films- you don't care whether they are under age, exploited, vulnerable or trafficked.

Which says everything I need to hear about porn and the lowlife that use it.

Thisisaeuphemism · 12/12/2012 17:49

Another statistic from the Andula school of statistics, eh.

I haven't read women's magazines for many years. But I'd hazard a guess you would say I'm lying - like you usually do.

When you say 'the mainstream sexualisation of young people has changed attitudes' do you know what you mean? Do you mean the fact that porn has become mainstream has changed attitudes?

Selfdoubt · 12/12/2012 17:49

Not only is it easier, but the stuff is getting sickeningly worse. And most of it is about doing things to the woman for the males kicks. It has fuck all to do with mutual satisfaction.

Have you ever had done to you what these women have done to them? Those cries of pleasure are mostly fake. Not real. And why is that?

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 17:55

It actually sounds like the sexualisation of young children is acceptable, in andula's opinion. Because its part of a shift in attitudes towards porn. Which is something she enjoys using.

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 17:57

Seeker, Is everyone who watches porn a lowlife?

ArielTheBahHumbugMermaid · 12/12/2012 17:58

In the posts I have seen her on this week, Andula has made herself sound very unpleasant.

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 17:59

When was the last time any of you watched porn?

Talk of underage girls etc we must have seen different things.

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 18:03
  1. and how do you know how old the girls are?
FBworry · 12/12/2012 18:08

I personally dont believe I have seen anything underage but I do treasure the time I relaised my ex had signed up "barely legal". That was nice.

OP posts:
seeker · 12/12/2012 18:08

"Seeker, Is everyone who watches porn a lowlife?"

Unless they know for certain that the women involved aren't vulnerable, underage, exploited or trafficked, yes.

Shoesme · 12/12/2012 18:09

Because its the law that they have to be, the porn industry is regulated, it's big business these days, porn stars are proper famous these days, breaking out into mainstream movies etc.

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 18:11

in all countries? seeker has hit the nail on the head. you dont know you assume.

seeker · 12/12/2012 18:11

Oh, bless. Such a sweet naive soul!

BlameItOnTheChoirOfAngels · 12/12/2012 18:12

and which porn stars are "proper famous"? (and not for being a fucked up girlfriend of some rich old bloke)

digerd · 12/12/2012 18:12

I watched one video, decades ago, in a group, but it made me feel sick. At the same time, I thought it was giving the men the wrong impression of what women really want, and that annoyed me.
