Please tell me there are sisters who get along well!

Hello! I'm due with DD2 in 6 weeks (we already have a DS and a DD) and I've been terrified since we learnt it is a girl. All I can see around me is sisters arguing, competing for their parents' attention or simply hating one another as they grow up. Could you please share your good stories?

I have 2 sisters (and 3 brothers) 17 years between the oldest child to the youngest and we all get on relatively well now as adults..

There were plenty of fights growing up (and there have been a few as adults).. But I love having sisters.. We do lunch, go girlie shopping, pop round each others houses etc..

I think siblings will fight / argue whatever their gender.. I have a boy and girl and they fight like cat and dog one minutes and love each other to bits the next...

I have a sister five years older than me and a brother in the middle. My sister bought me my first bra and used to give me money from her first job. She was the one I went to with boyfriend troubles.

Oh yeah...wouldn't be without my sister. She's great. We are very different and don't live in each others pockets (and we're about 400 miles apart geographically)...but we're in touch all the time and we are genuinely there for each other whenever we need each other (esp since our mum died, my dad is not much support emotionally!). And she's just about to make me an auntie for the first time, which I'm delighted about.

Not in my house. They each get on well with their brother, though!

I had little to do with my sister when we were children but we are very close now.

I have two, I don't think we ever really argued a lot when we were growing up. And we all get on fine now.

I adore my sister, she is 2.5yrs older than me.

We used to fight when we were younger, but also used to play together LOADS! Colouring in, making beaded things and playing horses lol.. I have such fond memories of it all.

She now lives in Australia and I miss her so much! We have grown so much closer as we got older and my life would be very poor without her.

My best friend has 3 boys, and they fight all the time.. so I don't think it's just a girl thing.

DD1 (7.5) and DD2 (2.5) are in LOOOVe with each other it is scary, they gang up on us and defend each other. It might change who knows.

My mum (64) and her sister (69) are very different but still close and supporting (between the "fights").

I have one. We fought as children like all children do - but were there for each other outside the home. Get on really well now

Three years between me and dsis, fought like cat and dog growing up, once I moved out we saw each other infrequently at our parents.

Things changed when we had DCs - although mine are older than hers, we became closer and now speak / text / see each other very regularly.

She is lovely, funny, kind, compassionate, thoughtful...the list goes on. She is everything that I would choose in a friend and I am very thankful to have her in my life.

I have a twin sister, she's my best friend. My Dad calls her, my mum and I "the coven" as we gang up on him so much. It should be your DH that's worried, not you! Although we are proper daddy's girls, so he can't complain too much.

An ex of mine had a younger sister and they didn't have much of a relationship, they were just like two strangers who lived in the same house. So just because you have one of each doesn't mean it'll guarantee familial bliss.

My two DD's are still quite young (6 and almost 9) and they really are like best friends. The play together, read together, sometimes sleep in eqach other's room, generally really look out for each other. DD1 does a lot for DD2 and DD2 tries to help DD1. It is really sweet.

I grew up with one brother and DH has one sister, so we have no experience of same-sex siblings and so I don't think the strength of DDs relationship is anything to do with us really - we are just very, very lucky. Of course this will could all change when they hit puberty!

I don't mean to sound like it is all sunshine and rainbows in the Diamonds household - of course they do have their squabbles and differences of opinion, but they really are wonderful sisters to each other.

My sister and I are not friends, but there's no ill-feeling, just a lack of interest really. We've always been the same, avoiding each other where possible.

I think we're unusual though compared to other sisters I know.

My DD3 and 4 are inseparable (age 6 and 7) so much so they play "twins" all the time and keeping them in separate classes at school is tricky (though necessary) the younger one is the leader, the older one her support.

On the other hand My DD1(10) and 3 are chalk and cheese and although they don't fight that much they really don't "get" or like each other that much. However if I instigate a task then they can be good at getting things done together..........unlike 3/4 who will make it into a game and then forget what they are doing!!!

Hope yours are perfect partners....but don't worry if they are not. you will be fine and they will be individuals with different strengths and weaknesses whatever

There's 4.5 years between me and my younger sister. We have always been close as children, but have grown apart a bit recently as things have changed. We used to fight a lot when younger, but we loved eachother to bits despite that.

I only had smelly brothers (who I love now) but I have 4 daughters and I'm really hoping they are close. Currently they are 14, 8, 2 and 16 months. Dd1 and 2 hate each other mostly although they do have some lovely moments. They both love dds 3 and 4 and fight over them. Dds 3 and 4 are like partners in crime and best friends. They are very young though, I really hope it continues.

At least I've spread them out a bit and the hormones wont come all at once!

I don't get on with my older sister at all, but I am very close to my younger sister who is 7 years younger than I. We have never fought and we have more of a mother/daughter relationship in the sense that I worry about her constantly and she moans to me about boys :) We get on very well and I think she's the bees knees.

2 sisters.

We used to bicker and argue growing up (but if anyone outside us argued we stuck together).

Now we have a fab relationship, I would consider my sisters 2 of my best friends. I could / can tell them anything.

I didn't get on very well with my sister as she was a lot older and very bossy. Dd1 is 12 years older than Dd2 and they get on perfectly.

My sister directly below me and I didn't get on in childhood but to a large degree this was because my mum set us up to fight deliberately (for her benefit) in some ways. My two sisters and I are very close now, the one I fought with is the closest one and it is my brother who I am least close to atm. I have two boys and two girls and they separate themselves off by gender all the time which irritates me hugely!!! None of them fight though all their rage is directed randomly or at me

I have 3 girl's and they fight and argue (which I presume is quite normal!) But they miss each other like crazy when apart. They also hug and kiss a lot
