So Fucking Angry at what this man on a dating website just messaged me

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 27/05/2012 22:35

I am on a dating website and i messaged a man who lives near me to say hi and how come he didn't come to the singles meet-up we had in our area the week before as I'd have noticed him.

He messaged me back to say he'd have noticed me too and that the sprout pickers uniform would have been a dead-giveaway.

he specifically states on his profile that he is a good man Angry - yes he does - he actually says that

I don't understand

VivaLeBeaver · 27/05/2012 22:38

What's a sprouts pickers uniform?

CarryOnMatron · 27/05/2012 22:38

I don't get it Confused

Eurostar · 27/05/2012 22:38

I don't understand either?

ImperialBlether · 27/05/2012 22:38

This isn't Plenty of Freaks, is it?

PissyDust · 27/05/2012 22:39

Eh?

oikopolis · 27/05/2012 22:40

??

peggyblackett · 27/05/2012 22:40
Confused
scottishmummy · 27/05/2012 22:40

what you on about? is in a local euphemism?

NameChangeaGoGo · 27/05/2012 22:41

He is implying that the OP looks like she does a menial job, requiring little intelligence. And one that doesn't require much in the looks department.

Wittsend13 · 27/05/2012 22:41

I'd send one back laughing it off by saying you only wear that on special occasions! I wouldn't take it as an insult. Maybe it's his warped way of cracking a joke?

NameChangeaGoGo · 27/05/2012 22:41

I assume.

LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 27/05/2012 22:41

also confused...

BigHairyFlowers · 27/05/2012 22:41

heh?

BigHairyFlowers · 27/05/2012 22:43

Screw 'cracking a joke', I'd send one back saying 'Ohhh, so that's why you're single..'

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 27/05/2012 22:43

implying i look like a sprout picker Sad - we have sprouts in our area, really.

OP posts:
BoredRoom · 27/05/2012 22:44

DO you look like a sprout picker?

Grin
scottishmummy · 27/05/2012 22:45

Christ are you always so obtuse?
you'll find offence in everything with that out look

Wittsend13 · 27/05/2012 22:46

I would still send one back with something witty but not rude and see what he comes back with. I've no idea what a sprout picker looks like, but I'm sure you look lovely OP!

NameChangeaGoGo · 27/05/2012 22:46

So outrageously rude that at least you don't have to take it personally. He's just very very odd.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/05/2012 22:47

Does your specific area have more sprouts than his area/town. Maybe he's trying to make a joke about your locality? Ask him what he means and see what he says.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 27/05/2012 22:48

i'm not obtuse, it's a local insult, and it is offensive.

OP posts:
hmc · 27/05/2012 22:50

Ok it's a local insult - but what does it actually mean?

scottishmummy · 27/05/2012 22:50

yes but hello mn is uk wide
youre not yapping to locals now
so bitty obtuse to be so touchy about a sproutland in joke

BigHairyFlowers · 27/05/2012 22:52

It's already been explained further up the thread.
