Just wondering what kinds of things you've done recently for your partner to show them you love them...

you're all heart ;). Although, I think it's worse when they do clean the bathroom but take 3 hours and use 3 bottles of cillit bang and a whole roll of loo paper...

I take him to and from the airport every week when he could easily get the train.

Shakey1500 · 12/04/2012 20:24

I have cleared an entire room ready for bookcases arrival tomorrow. He's expecting to have to do it when he gets in from work tonight so it'll be a nice surprise for him. And I got him some bottled beer Grin

I will also not pull a cats bum face when he says he'll be "going for a couple of pints" (couple= 5+) tomorrow night. but only because it will give me some peace on MN

When I go to the sweet shop to buy an occasional treat for the dc, I always buy him a quarter of peanut brittle, cos he loves it. I also do 100% of his washing for him.

LapOfTheGods · 12/04/2012 20:30

I cleaned his shed for him today, he's been meaning to do it for ages and I had a free hour. I love him loads but I'm afraid I don't always show it... Cat bum face is frequent, I'm a moody bint, what can I say.

Took the bus to work so he could go by car instead of getting soaked in the rain on his motorbike.

Got out of bed and talked to him about his day and got him drinks instead of killing him for waking me up in the middle of the night roll over and ignore him.

oikopolis · 12/04/2012 20:32

Lap does yours do that too??? God i thought mine was the only one. Does he ever get that bathtub clean though, jayzuz. i'm a slovenly cow not that into housework so i just leave him to it whilst feeling mildly guilty about the environmental impact

i take my H coffee in bed every morning.

and rub lotion into his back (he reciprocates this, v useful in a dry climate)

and i let him play his music/rehearse with his band v loudly. i don't care, grew up with siblings playing brass instruments etc. and can block it out. he is v appreciative of this though! feel a bit of a bitch really because it's no skin off my nose at all.

oikopolis · 12/04/2012 20:33
  • i meant the 3-hour-cleaning thing btw
Flightty · 12/04/2012 20:34

Oh dear. I'm all new to this.

I keep buying him stuff, and getting it wrong. He's very good. Last week I managed to get him some deodorant as he kept borrowing mine, and smelled like a girl Grin but I ended up being so indecisive I got four bottles of it. And then he told me he uses a roll on anyway.

But he did take one with him in my dad's old leather washbag (unused...my dad gets given useless presents by his mother, hands them down to me, I keep them for fifteen years and pass them on to DP. That's how it works)

He made me choose for him. They were lined up like skittles,. me looking apologetic.
Bought him three toothbrushes this week, that'll be a nice surprise when he gets back Grin

at least the pyjamas fitted Ok but I think he still prefers my Jack wills ones.

LapOfTheGods · 12/04/2012 20:37

oikopolis. My oh is in a band too, maybe it's a musician thing ;)...

Oh and I'm learning to cook! God save us

The first time he was coming for dinner we agreed I'd do bacon and eggs (not sure why, I was going to make him breakfast, it was the only thing he knew I had and was trying to be considerate). Anyway I took the boys to Waitrose and got him some amazing steak on the reduced shelf, and cooked a proper dinner which he was really surprised about Smile

I NEVER cook. And he was so grateful.

bekspolo · 12/04/2012 20:39

Hold him when he's having bother sleeping and stroke his back til he falls asleep.

And then don't move all night for fear of wakening him even when I have a dead arm and really need a wee

LapOfTheGods · 12/04/2012 20:44

flightty, I find buying things for oh very hard, he's particular as you can tell from the way he cleans! I often cook him stuff, cakes etc. Try to talk to him about work.

I think he would really love for me to be all over him like a rash, but it's not really my way. He's always thinking of me and doing lovely things, seems to come naturally to him. I guess I'm more selfish, thoughtless and focused on ds.

It's lovely to hear the things other people do as I feel that's what's a relationship is about and I've been neglecting mine since ds was born, had a lot going on with ds but it's looking brighter and I want to focus more on oh.

hath I know that's something he would love, again, I'm being selfish and thinking of sleep... Need to pull my finger out...

OP posts:
puds11 · 12/04/2012 20:48

let him sleep in the bed Grin

LapOfTheGods · 12/04/2012 20:49

He runs my feet every night to help me sleep. He's such a giver and it doesn't come that naturally to me... I need to work on it...

LapOfTheGods · 12/04/2012 20:50

puds he's not here tonight and I'm looking forward to a kingside bed with only me and the cat in it :)

I buy him the Tramp shower gel from lush even though I have to get it mail order.

I make him coffee in the morning, and buy him horribly strong coffee I know he likes.

NorthernChinchilla · 12/04/2012 20:55

Made the world's most choco-lific birthday cake for his best mate who was coming to stay. That way the friend was made a fuss of, and (as planned, as the friend was only staying a couple of days) DP got to eat the vast majority of the cake.

Bought him some chamois leather wipes for his car windscreen; his last fell in a puddle, and he'd been searching for a particular type for ages. Cost all of £3 from Wilko's.

It's the little things Smile

puds11 · 12/04/2012 20:55

ooh im very jealous lap i'd love a bed to myself!
