The Brave Babes Battle Bus - On Their Way To Spread The Festive Cheer, Without The Beer!

Hello, I'm mouse.

I have an obsession with drinking, I can't have a drink, not just one..... it has to be more. Always more.

So, I got on the Bus, this Bus, full of Brave Babes who will help and support me all the way. Come say hi, grab a seat and a Brew. We're a real mixed bunch that share one thing without any doubt - alcohol abuse.

And if you want to read about our history, it's HERE

See you on the Bus Smile xx

We are at home. The doc said I was right, raging chest infection so he has Anti Bs and I asked for more dioralyte as it's £3.50 for 6! Robbing fuckers!

So, I'm going to keep a close eye on him, we have open access to the local children's hospital so if his condition gets any worse, I need to get him straight to them.

I have decided that The Real Father Christmas was here and was right in what he said; Believe. Believe that I can do it, I can look after Nemo, I can because I know him better than anyone else.

So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to nurse him and get him better and celebrate having him here with us.

Now, enough of this wallowing in poorlyness, I'm going to get my Christmas on big time!

Thanks for all of your support and well wishes, I'm signing off for Christmas, be back Boxing Day just to check all is well with you Brave Babes Smile

hi all. have had a really wonderful day today. DH bought me lots of lovely gifts, the DCs loved their presents, dinner went without a hitch (roasties were spot on) and am now wearing new pjs from sis and chilling out.
Had a tad too much bubbly last night so have been pacing myself today with cups of tea and glasses of water in between glasses of wine.
Its been good. DDS have been very funny - their dance routine to Tom Jones while doing the dinner dishes with DH was very funny.
Hope nemo is feeling better and that you are ok silver

AChristmouseTail · 25/12/2011 20:29

Not good here. Nemo has spent the day coughing and crying.

I hope these meds work.

Stay strong Babes

Ma - you sounds great xx

dementedma · 25/12/2011 20:40

aww mouse - I'm sorry you've had a tough day. Hope the wee man has a better night and you can get some rest.
Thinking of you......

MrsMiniver · 26/12/2011 09:30

Morning babes. Mouse, hope Nemo is a little better today and the meds are working. Have you managed to avoid catching the bug from your son's family Mary? What are you all up to today?

I drank like an idiot yesterday but don't think anyone knew - I hold my drink very well after years of practise! But today I won't be drinking. DD is going to her dad's sister's for his big family get-together and I've decided I just want to be on my own. So I'll be getting the house back in order and going for a long walk. Wish I had a dog to take with me but as there's a cat already in residence I don't know how that would work. Do any of you have dog and cat households?

Enjoy Boxing Day and hope you all get a chance to relax.

MrsMiniver · 26/12/2011 12:46

Resolution out the window; DD has just gone off with her dad, full of excitement and I've crashed. Started on the bottle of wine I opened yesterday before I went out and will finish it.

I know you all have husbands and at this time of year I acutely miss being married. It's as if I've learnt nothing in the five years since mine left. I don't even want to be with anyone today because I'd be such rubbish company (unless I was pissed of course and then I'm the life and soul). And I know by drinking I'm just piling on the misery.

I'm embarrassed to post this but have to let it out somehow. Perhaps I should go find an AA meeting. Thanks for reading and please forgive my self-pity.

dementedma · 26/12/2011 16:21

hey mrsm don't be embarrassed. i started today full of resolution and am sipping lime and soda just now, but thats not to say I'll get through the evening!
Its also very ok to feel crap and self-pitying. Just try to moderate the intake and have a soft drink or two along the way.

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 26/12/2011 16:35

not married here mrsminiver - very much single.

replace the word 'pity' with 'compassion' and you'd be in a very healthy place. it's good to feel self-compassion. maybe google it and browse if you're still twiddling your thumbs x

i'm knackered and irritable today. cross with the dog for smelling, cross with the house for being a mess, cross with the boy for being demanding and overtired/tantrumy, cross with myself for still feeling like shit.

i'm going to attempt to get a hot bath but know with 99% certainty that i won't be allowed to have it alone in peace. still even a few minutes might help.

mouse i'm so sorry nemo is ill - please give us an update when you can x

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 26/12/2011 16:37

this book is very good and i found a free pdf download version on the web - out there if you search for it.

AChristmouseTail · 26/12/2011 16:38

Afternoon babes

MrsM - great advice from Ma there. No beating yourself up over something that you can't take back or change.

Yes, if you feel that AA will help, then go and find a meeting but do it soon so that you don't talk yourself out of it.

You're not alone in your drinking, and you're not the first to feel sorry for yourself. BUT - use those emotions and turn them onto useful energy. Do something about it. Now.

Keep posting, we're all around at some point or another over Christmas. You are doing great and you will get there. xxxx

xx

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 26/12/2011 16:41

i'd also recommend instead of saying i feel self pitying you actually sat quietly and named what it is you do feel. list the emotions, feel them, see where they sit in your body, don't think about them or write a story about them just let them be felt and acknowledge their presence.

yo mouse - we must have cross posted - how are things?

MrsMiniver · 26/12/2011 16:56

Santa, Ma and Mouse, your understanding has helped so much. And thanks for the book-link Santa. How old is your boy, is he quite little and that means you can't get any peace? I hope you got your bath!

The world is looking a little brighter, I drank but have stopped and am now snuggled on the sofa with cat watching Harry Potter. Thanks for being there, have a cosy evening.
