Hi I am venus and I am an alcoholic.

Thanks to the first thread by Jesuswhatnow I have not had a drink for a long time.

There are lots of us on here, please lurk, post, whatever does it for you. If you are worried about how much you drink and your inability to stop when you want to, then someone on here can probably understand.

Have you rung ter Noteven Is your DP coming to see you once he's finished work. Don't mean to sound nosy, just want to make sure your OK.

ClearAndPresent · 19/11/2010 15:36

How are you doing noteven? Has AA called back/come to see you?

remember... it takes incredible strength and courage to ask for help. You ARE both strong and courageous.

Mouseface · 19/11/2010 16:02

noteven - have you eaten yet?

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:10

noteven hope you have had some food and you are feeling better.

mouse anything nice planned for the weekend?

Creamlegbar · 19/11/2010 16:18

To repeat the health warning I have added to anothMajor alert before you get involved in AA.
Read these first.

My sister was involved in this business for 4 years and now campaigns for greater public awareness.

er post, please read this before going to AA, or before you exhort another to do so.

Creamlegbar · 19/11/2010 16:19

And for al-anon,

EmbracingTheTruth · 19/11/2010 16:30

I don't think those links are vey appropriate creamlegbar

noteven is asking for help and that is what she needs right now.

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:32

OK my lovely Babes it's almost time for me to go - a whole weekend to look forward to Wink

I will be thinking of you all this weekend. noteven I really hope that you manage to get to a meeting or to at least meet/ speak with someone from AA.

Love to everyone. Thanks for a fab week. Catch you all Monday x

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:32

embrace well said.

CJCregg · 19/11/2010 16:34

Not helpful in the slightest. MIFLAW has posted at length about this. AA is not a cult religion, what utter bollocks.

noteven, just taking a tiny step forward to help yourself as you have done today will make you feel so much better.

Creamlegbar · 19/11/2010 16:35

Have you read those links, Embracing?

I know the difficulty people face coming out of that business, and it is not nice.

Noteven is clearly vulnerable and needs to be warned before she gets involved.

Would you be so happy for her to waved into Scientology, who also boast a rehab program? Or why not read the links, written by others who wish to tell their tale to prevent the suffering they have experienced?

Read the links. Wink

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:39

CJ and Embrace - maybe best not to engage? Don't want the thread to move away from its primary purpose and turn into a slanging match? Not sure what you think...

Silver66 · 19/11/2010 16:42

Engage what? Did somebody say something? I didn't hear it!! Grin

CJCregg · 19/11/2010 16:42

creamiegbar, noteven is asking for help. She has had a huge amount of support on here, from people both in and out of the rooms. FFS, don't jump in and attack the one thing she's tried when she's only just reached out for RL help.

noteven, please take care of yourself. jwn, MIFLAW, myself and several others on this thread go to AA meetings and have experienced no coercion. Only help and support. It's your choice, of course it is. But please don't be put off by this nonsense.

CJCregg · 19/11/2010 16:42

Oops, I engaged Angry

Creamlegbar · 19/11/2010 16:42

Read the links. If it doesn't work, why keep going back?

stinkin-thinkin.com/category/cult-aspects-of-aa/

Read before judging.

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:43

noteven my experience of AA has been wholly positive too.

Mouseface · 19/11/2010 16:44

Can we stop the arguing over bloody AA or not AA?

We all have our own opinions and they DO NOT needed to be wheeled out just at the moment please.

Red - just me and the children here this weekend so a nice and relaxed time planned. You know, filled with 'can I have' 'will you get me' and mountains of washing. Grin

What about you?

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:44

silver Grin calm down not yet!!

RedMoomin · 19/11/2010 16:47

mouse not too much really. Just the usual Wink No actually i don't really know. Have lots of washing to do too. Sounds thrilling doesn't it?!

ChristianaCatesby · 19/11/2010 16:47

Not even - have you tried www.sitters.co.uk
They offer vetted Babysitters local to you. I've found them brilliant, all sitters are nursery staff or nannies, all police checked. They might be able to give you a last minute booking, they always have for me

Silver66 · 19/11/2010 16:48

Bloody washing - me too - it NEVER feking ends!! Grin

ChristianaCatesby · 19/11/2010 16:49
