How do you feel about prostitution?

Hello everyone, I have name changed for this(no sinister reason) but i do post on here from time to time.

Anyway, I would love to know what your thoughts are on prostitution. I don't mean political views and I dont really want to get into a discussion on whether girls are trafficked, pimped, druggies. Just what you think as a whole.

I am talking about girls who willing become escorts or work in massage parlours under the guise of 'masseuses' when really they provide extras.

What do you think of men who see them? Are that losers, sad and lonely, 'sex addicts'or what? Would you think your dp/dh was cheating if he saw a prostitute.

I ask just out of curiosity, I do not think my dp has ever visited a prostitute! Also, apparently 1 in 10 men see prostitutes. Do you agree with this. If this is true what hope do we all have eh?

My take is that i belive some girls use their looks to earn money an 'easy' way. By easy, I mean that they do not have to train for yrs to get a decent paid job, or they do not have to work 9 to 5 in an office when they can earn a wks wages in a day.

I have asked my own dp and he beleives that there is something missing from a relationship if a man sees a prostitute.Obviously its different with a single man. He also thinks that some men have issues sexually with their wives/partners and are inhibited. Therefore, that is why they pay for sex acts that they can't ask for at home. These are exactly my thoughts.Anyone agree or disagree?

Sorry I haven't read all the thread, but when I think of prostitutes I think of two of the working girls who used to hang about near mine when I lived on a street in inner London where crack was openly sold. We used to chat sometimes (usually when I was on my way home very drunk after a night out and we'd end up talking).

They were the polar opposite end of the scale from the high class hookers. They were both in their late 30s / early 40s - crackheads and sold themselves for not much at all. One of them told me how she went into labour while with a john, and didn't want to let on that her waters had broken. This boggled my mind - what kind of man pays to have sex with a heavily pregnant woman in an alley by the park?! The other one was just a completely lost soul. She'd beaten heroin addiction, only to be housed by the council on a road where she had to walk past blatant crack dealing to get to the shop / bus stop. Nice one. You can guess the rest.
I just feel so immensely sorry for these two women when I think of them Their lives were so chaotic and being exploited by aresholes was normality for them.

I also know a high-class hooker. She's very glamorous, has a book published about herself and certainly doesn't feel exploited. She might as well live on a different planet to the other two! She doesn't do anything she doesn't want to. I don't know how the job effects her life - I expect it does, but I don't know here well enough to pry. Socially, she hangs out with open minded people who know what she does for a job.

OP I have known many men who have used the services of prostitutes. Their wives had no idea. Had they been drawn into conversation on the subject, they would have responded in much the same way as your DH did. Their wives were smart, confident, sexual women. Their using prostitutes didn't mean otherwise, it just meant that they were cheats.

Yrs ago a relative of an old school friend was found to be using prostitutes. One particular one bled him dry, he ended up with nothing. We all thought he was a bit of a div( we were teenagers) and he was always very weird.

The only other 'knowledge' of I have of the sex industry is a girl I know who is a lap dancer. I reckon she does 'extras' though she denies it. I don't know her well enough to pry. She is as rough as old boots though!
