Radio 2 drive time - any idea of new presenter?

I was listening to radio 2, and unless I’ve missed it, they’ve still not announced who’s taking on the drive time slot from Sara Cox’s move to breakfast. Given they announced her move to breakfast in April, you’d hope they already know by now who’s got the gig.

Has anyone heard rumours? Seems excessive length of time they’ve had fill-ins. Surely someone must have been offered it by now!

Richard Madeley ….I’d switch off my podcasts to listen to that show

Actually I’d love a bit of Sean Keavney but he’s not really eco centric enough for the role really.Bloody funny though .

I wish Gary Davies would move to GHR as I really like him.

Can't listen to R2 any more as many of the presenters are just dire, have been promoted far beyond their talent (talking about YOU Richie Anderson) or are just annoying, smug, know it alls (Jeremy Vine).

We have recently got Zoe Ball on GHR but I don't think she is a good fit. Too much chatter, she does not realise that it is a different type of station where it is not all about me me me.☹️

Loads of people appear not to like Sally Traffic, I think I’m a lone voice in thinking she’s ok.
Admittedly I listen to less radio than I did but she makes me laugh sometimes.

There’s too much listener participation for me sometimes.
I really don’t want to know what Tracy, Kevin and their 3 year old cockapoo Charlie are doing in Rotherham all fecking day thank you

You're not on your own there. I can't listen to "All Request Friday" any more as that's the worst part of the week for this. Also all the smug gits who phone or text in to let us all know they're enjoying a "cheeky" cocktail on their hotel balcony. I always think it can't be that great a holiday if they're stuck in their hotel listening to bloody Radio 2!

Totally agree. I think that's where Sara is going wrong on her breakfast show. Especially with the annoying kids in the car. I was hoping that was going to be shelved when she moved over 😱🤦🙄

Now OWE has been chosen to do the Children in Need challenge, I have a horrible feeling....

Kelly & JK on Heart are great, so I’ve totally given up on R2 now - Owain is horrendous as have all the stand ins been.

Maybe there'll be someone good on early breakfast then. Probably not.

Gary Davis is great, would love him to get it.
Owain is incredibly annoying, can’t listen to his inane wittering. Don’t like OJ either.

I like Gary Davies - he plays the music and has a good rapport with the listeners. If only he could encourage them to get rid of Adenoid Ellie the show would be 100 times better though. Owain - just no. He's another Richie Anderson, desperate for fame and has no warmth or charisma.

Im in a mn minority that I quite like Ritchie Anderson!
Out of all the stand ins id like OJ borg, Joel dommet or Gary Davis. Not keen on Jason Manford, or Owain.

I really enjoyed Clara Amfo when she stood in for Trevor Nelson over summer, but I doubt she'll be in the mix.

Jeez. The bar is low: Ritchie is just awful.

I do think the downside of no ads is you are going to get the time padded out with more “audience participation”.

I also liked Clara Amfo but don’t think she’ll get the big show straight off, however if they are doing a rejig to move someone to teatime she might get their old spot.

(I still think Dermot O’Leary would be great, but more chilled and a proper music fan, but don’t think he’d want to do it.)

Clara Amfo is brill - she surely has served her dues & would be great in the drivetime slot!

Oh they’ve just announced Angela Scanlon.

Didn’t mind her sitting in stint, but wasn’t wasn’t bowled over. (Not someone with an existing slot so no more rejigs needed at least)

She was OK - one of the better ones I'd say. Please gods don't let Richie or Adenoid Ellie be dumped on us during the show though.

Not happy... I'll be station hopping even more now.

Absolutely not! Greg needs to stay on Radio 1. I'm 60 but still tune in to GJ every morning. He would not be the same on Radio 2.

Not a huge fan of Angela tbh. Will give her a chance though.
