Spoilers thread for The Archers on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. All Archers listeners are welcome here, whether you post on our main Archers thread or not. There's just one rule: please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers thread.

We usually add the BBC teasers and cast lists for forthcoming episodes as they become available, plus the Radio Times and Daily Mail previews when possible. Feel free to add anything else you come across, e.g. cast news, scriptwriter tweets!

Oh… I misread “George is ducking out” for “George is f*cking off”. What a disappointment

26 Jan Akram does something boring, and there's an implication at the Rewilding.

I wasn't far off.

What will the meal-to-heal be? Will the explosive news be the re-opening old wounds?

And who will be having the medical emergency? George, Amber or Neil?

FatRosie · 27/01/2026 12:03

Amber, I hope.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/01/2026 13:19

6th February has appeared at last, along with the cast list for that week, including someone who is surely Amber's Mum.

6/2: Esme makes a surprising offer, and Susan gets her hopes up.

Writer: Sarah McDonald Hughes
Director: Jessica Bunch
Editor: Jeremy Howe

David Archer.... Timothy Bentinck
Josh Archer.... Angus Imrie
Kenton Archer.... Richard Attlee
Pat Archer.... Patricia Gallimore
Pip Archer.... Daisy Badger
Ruth Archer.... Felicity Finch
Susan Carter.... Charlotte Martin
Amber Gordon.... Olivia Bernstone
Anne Marie Gordon.... Kate Ashfield
Bill Gordon.... Matthew Gravelle
Clarrie Grundy.... Heather Bell
George Grundy.... Angus Stobie
Will Grundy.... Philip Molloy
Paul Mack.... Joshua Riley
Esme Mulligan.... Ellie Pawsey
Stella Pryor.... Lucy Speed
Hannah Riley.... Helen Longworth

Kate Ashfield is another very well established actor. She was in Shaun of the Dead (long time since I saw that, so I don't remember). I remember her from series 1 of Line of Duty where she played Lenny James's wife. She was in the Death of Paradise 2025 Christmas special.

I'm hoping for a Brookfield inheritance focus next week given that all five Brookfield Archers (I'm not counting Jill these days) are in the cast. Big row, please! I'd like Josh to say to his parents' faces that he feels left out and belittled.

Gasp0de beat me to it! I hope that they don't waste Kate Ashfield. There is potential for there to be a glorious scene when Amber tells her parents that she is planning to have a baby with Grumpy Grundy.

I'd gone onto the BBC website to see whether I'd missed anything significant about the Brookfield inheritance; I guess not.....yet!

Sinittaadancers · 27/01/2026 14:01

Esme offers to redesign the Brookfield website? Does she have ANYTHING else to offer, skills wise?

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , I remember her from Shaun of the Dead. I didn't remember the name but could the face and voice.
'I'd like Josh to say to his parents' faces that he feels left out and belittled.' Same here.

@Sinittaadancers , she's a freelance IT consultant. She mentioned that she'd been offered a month's sprint contract, which would suggest software development or project management but she said had said website design before.

@MTistheDB , I think it's just how actors work.

OK then, you have a choice - your PFB is George G or Brooklyn B...

A medical emergency at the shop and a complication for Amber - something wrong with the pregnancy? A miscarriage? An ectopic pregnancy?

Let's hope so but she and her parents are in the cast list in February.

She's only a few weeks pregnant so it could go wrong. Fingers crossed.

Could she spontaneously combust? Building collapse on her and kill her?

"A medical emergency at the shop" - shop runs out of painkillers or hay-fever tablets?

Susan's endless wittering (in that voice!) bores someone into a coma?

FatRosie · 29/01/2026 14:29

What was it that made George faint in the shop? Was it the sight of Azra? Was it the meal-to-heal? Is the bottle of wine a red herring and it was really Akram, who wouldn't have been given a bottle, who hit him?

Is Ben's graduation anything to do with the decisions being made at Brookfield?

Did Justin deliberately order a small sculpture and keep the change?

Lurking on the main thread, I was bemused to read that Mucky Mick was a good physical actor so my mental image of him has changed - he's now very theatrical Smile, but to me Justin Elliot will always be James Bellamy (or Dr. Charles Cartwright in Don't Wait Up) to me.
I'd liked to have seen the Bargain Hunt episode with Tracy and Jazzer in it too.
Why wasn't it Joy, Mick, Azra and Amber? They're blimmin everywhere in Ambridge.

Gonners · 29/01/2026 14:41

I remember my mother had a thing about Simon Williams back when he was in Upstairs, Downstairs. I found him (and his voice) every bit as creepy and repulsive then as I do now. See also Jeremy Irons!

FatRosie · 29/01/2026 15:18

Jeremy Irons is a little bit creepy but Simon Williams isn't.

I remember years ago my mother and I liked Nigel Havers and Paul Nicholas.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/01/2026 15:32

Bargain Hunt is probably still on iplayer. I think it went out around the time of the anniversary, so less than a month ago.

Mention of Jeremy Irons always makes me think of the day decades ago when I was in a bookshop and JI came in. (He and Sinead Cusack lived very near there at the time.) The bookshop owner was all over JI, who didn't seem delighted by his fawning behaviour, but like most celebrities must have learned to put up with it. As he left, the owner was calling out 'Love to Sinead and the children!' I cringed for him.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , Thanks. I don't have iplayer.

I've seen some famous people when in town or in the supermarket. I ignore them as I would any other shopper unless I had cause to speak to them. One time I didn't was when I saw someone and I gawped. I didn't dash to say 'You were wonderful in (programme), (programme) and (programme)' but I wanted to. I've seen that person since and haven't gawped or spoken.

I often see people and think 'Is that so-and-so?'. I'm not the best at recognising faces out of context. Actors are often shorter than I expect them to be.

I wonder if I'd recognise someone from TA who wasn't well-known on tv.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/01/2026 20:53

The only time I've recognised someone famous and spoken to them was a few years back when the first series of Killing Eve was on. One of the leading actors lives near us and when I saw him in the street I couldn't help myself and blurted out that I was relieved to see him alive and well. He blinked slightly and then realised what I meant - his character had just been bumped off - and we had a few sentences of conversation. I've been more restrained since.

Even more years ago another local actor (at the time, he's moved since) made my Mum's day. She loved Peak Practice and was delighted to see Adrian Lukis in our nearest park. She said good morning to him and he said good morning back. That was it, but it was enough. Grin

I believe Felicity Finch and Kim Durham (Matt) live a mile or two from us, but I've never seen either of them.

JustinElliotsBeaver · 29/01/2026 22:57

Simon Williams IRL is very very lovely and nothing like Justin. I know this because I met him last year. <preens>

Well, there's no accounting for taste (or lack of it), I suppose. But it wouldn't do if we all found the same people attractive/repulsive/amusing/dull, would it?
