They were talking about a 'survivors breakfast' which sounds like an all night ball to me. (Last ball I went to was the first ever Newnham College May ball (in June)).

It's got to be Justin. Someone got out of the car and looked at Matt.
Nic wouldn't leave the scene of an accident, would she ?

Anyway ... who will Christine take on her cruise? (Assuming it survives Matt's latest event.)

Hunt balls traditionally go on until at least 2am.
And since Adam never goes hunting, I don't see why he should enter the horn blowing contest.

Can someone explain please why Matt went to the trouble of asking for 2 invites to the Hunt Ball? If he was never intending to show.

Philip was at the ball. Specifically mentioned. We know he and Lilian are chums but I can't see why he would knock Matt over and drive away at speed. Even if it were an accident, why hit and run?

My wild card is Christine, who was at the ball (won the cruise) and could have been driving back through the village at the relevant time.

Shula would have been unable to get away without anyone noticing. Alistair was at the ball, on a 3 line whip from Shula. So my other contender is ?Graham, the annoying locum.

Then there's the possibility that Anisha was driving back late at night.

Final idea: Chalky. He vowed vengeance on Matt, didn't he?

Where was Nick? When Matt was talking to her, l mean.

So the injured party could be almost anyone - an inebriated Matt, Justin, Alistair, Adam.... was Adam drinking earlier? Or maybe Matt nicked the car. He definitely was over the limit.

After the fiasco of Helen, Mike and Tom all these years ago, l hate the idea of another over the limit story. Though these are probably commoner than hunt balls in rural areas. And no more trial stories either, l hope.

Justin's hired either Stefan or Rob.

Nic (or is it Nick? can't be bothered to check) has just gone back to working in The Bull as a barmaid. She appeared to be leaving early because Poppy wasn't well.

I don't think Rob/Rob's actor would come back for something like this, and he didn't have any animus against Matt, did he?

Do we think Matt will survive?

Justin hasn't hired anyone because he only knew about Matt when he answered Lillian's phone just now.

I thought Adam, especially with the contracted 'I'm going to bail' etc.

I think Adam. There apppeared to be quite heavy sign posting with all that 'see you in bed' between adam and ian. We were all supposed to think 'oh no you wont'.

Well, l suppose Justin knew after lan the sneak blabbed. Was Nic at the ball then? So it’s definitely Matt who was hit? They can’t surely have Shula losing another husband to the roads around Ambridge.

I think it was Adam, but there will be a miscarriage of justice and Justin will get the blame.

Alistair was signposted as not being around, everyone kept saying they thought he was in the other room. Definitely Matt who was hit as he was calling out for Lilian at the end wasn't he?

Will Justin be the one to find Matt? And so weave a more tangled love triangle?

I'm playing a wildcard, despite neither of them being in tonight's episode - speedy Lilly or shroomed up Freddie.

He "knows what its like to be betrayed" yer know. I wish he would sort out his issues with Adam instead of displacing them onto other people and stirring up trouble.

I'm pretty sure it was Matt at the end. My reaction was more along the lines of "oh gods how much longer are they going to drag out this mind numbing storyline".

I was looking forward to waving goodbye to Matt more than Justin.
