Further to previous discussions, has Shula organised the Ball during half term week? What are the SW thinking?

Sean and Peter were the first people in the village who were openly gay, but most listeners assumed Jean-Paul, the chef at Grey Gables was gay, and undoubtedly the chef at the wine bar run by Nelson Gabriel was gay. He was very camp anyway, in spite of being silent. I've forgotten his name. He made quiches. Was it Shane?

Nelson was a fascinating character as one never knew quite what his sexuality might be. Single all his life, but no one knew why. I miss him terribly.

I was hoping to be the first to mention Agatha Christie, but I see you're all miles ahead of me. It's very like that at the moment.

Scene 1 - A meets B. A is vile to B. B thinks dark thoughts.

Scene 2 - as above, but A meets C and C is stupid enough to say the dark thoughts out loud, thus putting him/herself in the frame for A's inevitable murder.

Scene 3 - etc etc etc etc.

What have Shula and Alastair done to annoy Matt in the first place and thus bring his retribution upon themselves? Is it connected with A's gambling phase?

It is due to the fact that Matt is an arse. That's my complex theory anyway. I want him to be murdered by someone sabotaging the bucking bronco which results in him being thrown headlong into the chocolate fountain where he drowns slowly.

a) Matt has been running around the countryside buying horses. There was a horse that he viewed that, for some reason I've forgotten, he wanted put down. Al got all moral and refused.
b) Matt was supposed to introduce the Practice to Latif. He constantly dangled the carrot but never came through. In the end Anisha managed to bag Latif herself thus making Matt superfluous and therefore annoyed.
Since securing Latif's business, the Practice have been brave enough to be quite frosty with Matt because of all the previous history. (Al eventually told Anisha about the gambling etc and she became TeamHebdenLloyd).

Re Matt and the gambling/horse fiddling - that was years and years ago now, but they have very long memories in Ambridge at least they do after a change of editor who goes rummaging through the archives looking for storylines that look as if they could be brought back to life.

Nelson was a well known “Ladies' Man”, I don't think there was ever any question of gayness (apart from having quite a merry disposition, if I recall correctly) about him. Known for his black silk sheets!
Yes to Jean-Paul, and to Shane, and Sean - along with Ian -I wonder why almost all the gays in the village are chefs?

I'm loving the twists and turns of Matt's storyline at the moment. He's making an excellent baddie.

Unfortunately some people on this thread will never be satisfied - Matt's return was very much wished for by many, now he's got a totally meaty storyline and people are still nitpicking

And while I'm at it, the most annoying 'take some soup with you' device is supposed to be just that - annoying.
My mum does the same and I dread carting it home in the car. You can never refuse.

My point is, the writing has improved massively since SOC's reign. The characters need to get us roused to be interesting. Even Pip.

The good thing post soc is that we don't seem to have suffered any episodes that are spread over more than one night. I like my archers in real time!!!
