The Archers: The Crook, the Vet, His Wife & Her Lodger - discussion #80

In full acknowledgement of PseudoBadger's great achievement in providing the previous 79 threads over the past 4 years (and credit to R4 for this thread's title)...

Discuss TA (The Archers). New posters encouraged - it's not (too) cliquey here and plenty of regulars are happy to answer questions. Archers

One rule: no spoilers (ie no mentioning future plot teasers from Radio Times listings etc) - there's a separate thread for that.

So, is Phoebe pregnant? will Anisha dob in (dobbin - geddit?) Alistair?

PS I don't presume to take on PB's role permanently - hopefully the job of starting new threads will rotate among regulars until she returns

Ambridge Medical Miracles - Mike Tucker's one eye.

Still mentioned when needed - Elizabeth's heart problem

Probably fine - Dan's juvenile arthritis which didn't preclude him getting into the army

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2017 09:54

Don't forget Ed's Ketamine induced brain damage....

yikesanotherbooboo · 22/08/2017 10:44

Catching up after hols.. looks like it's been busy

Ceto · 22/08/2017 10:48

I thought it was Jazzer who was brain damaged by Ketamine?

PseudoBadger · 22/08/2017 12:56

Chris' cleft palet

Ruhrpott · 22/08/2017 12:58

It was Jazzer who was Brain damaged not Ed.

choccyp1g · 22/08/2017 14:56

Chris in a coma from a horse kick.
Adam in a coma from an intruder.

choccyp1g · 22/08/2017 14:57

Even Rob survived eventually unscathed from a stabbing.

Minimammoth · 22/08/2017 15:45

Roy and Lexi to buy GG. ( she gets cash from Oligarch uncle)

Ceto · 22/08/2017 16:18

I suspect that if or when Rob reappears he's going to be doing some very audible wincing whenever MySon goes anywhere near the spot where that harpy wilfully stabbed Daddy, to say nothing of a load of brave limping.

JoeGrundyIsMyR0leModel · 22/08/2017 17:21

Don't forget my farmer's lung

Gruach · 22/08/2017 17:35

Hayley to buy GG ...

Or, better still, Brenda. (Who knows an oligarch or two ...)

MrsArthurShappey · 22/08/2017 17:45

I can't remember what day it was on, or who he was talking to, but did anyone notice Alistair saying something was 'so fresh' the other day? Brought back nightmares of the awful series of Ambridge Extra where we heard all the internal monologue [vom]

Minimammoth · 22/08/2017 19:37

Hazel Woolley might be interested!

AuldHeathen · 22/08/2017 19:41

Re- the compensation for her injured leg, l think Emma would have been eligible due to scarring, time/earning capacity lost to convalescence, not just continuing pain. Of course we can indeed assume there is no pain as we never hear mention of it Hmm and Emma's jobs in cleaning, catering and chicken processing ar hardly sedentary.

If Rob did return, I think he'd have had to behave quite differently in order to have the authorities decide contact would be a good thing for Myson.

Vango · 22/08/2017 19:56

Ed, Emma and Will. A summary of the whole sorry saga.

PseudoBadger · 22/08/2017 21:55

Do you want to hear what my title would've been? Just for fun, obviously Wink

Veterinari · 22/08/2017 22:00

Just catching up with the film and Gah! The Alistair-Anisha SL is driving me mad!

How on earth does a fully functioning vet practice run out of Alistair's spare room with no support staff??! There are no cleaners, receptionists or veterinary nurses and Alistair and Anisha seem to do everything from ordering basic stock to equine orthopaedic surgery despite having no facilities or expertise! It drives me mad! In reality a 2 vet equine/mixed practice would usually employ at least 5-10 other people

TeenAndTween · 22/08/2017 22:06

Why do you think they have no facilities?
They were refurbishing the waiting area not so long ago. I agree though that we don't hear about a receptionist, though I presume they have one (or share with the stables??)

TeenAndTween · 22/08/2017 22:07

Pseudo yes please.

TheAntiBoop · 22/08/2017 22:24

They did a lot of work and put the operating theatre in so I can believe they have the facilities

There has been mention of a nurse but can't think of anyone else. Although tbf, we don't hear from the many staff at gg or Ll either

Gruach · 22/08/2017 22:25

Pseudo!!!

Star Star

We always want to hear from you ...

PseudoBadger · 22/08/2017 22:30

I've had to absent myself as the news was really getting me down and I wanted to be able to avoid the internet if I needed to. I've got much better at only checking the news once a day so might be back soon. However it seems you're all doing just fine without me so no rush.
My title would be something along the lines of "feel kefir and do it anyway" as I do like how Susan has become such a fan after her initial disgust!

Eastpoint · 22/08/2017 22:37

Thank you for that link Vango. I hadn't realized it all took so long, if someone had asked me I'd never have got the timespan right, despite remembering all the events quite clearly. I hadn't realized Fallon is younger than Emma, she seems older somehow.

EBearhug · 23/08/2017 01:23

Wasn't the vet nurse called Denise?
