Can someone please explain to me the difference between kefir and yoghurt.

I bought some after hearing about it on the Archers and it was delicious and very yoghurty tasting. But mindblowingly expensive - £4.99 for a smallish bottle from Daylesford Organic.

Imbroglio · 12/08/2017 18:08

I'd like to hear from Abi. Surely she spends some time with her dad in the holiday?

cheminotte · 12/08/2017 22:11

How old is About now? About 5 or 6?

PseudoBadger · 12/08/2017 22:36

Evening all. I just wanted to say that I am taking a break from the internet. So I hope that someone else will take up the challenge of new thread titles! It's been wonderful discussing The Archers with you all and I'm sure I'll be back soon.

I'll miss you Pseudo

Hope you're not away for too long.

Flowers for all the threads

Flopjustwantscoffee · 12/08/2017 23:30

I lurk a lot but rarely comment. I was hoping that the phoebe story line was just going to be a compare and contrast to her mum and grandma's experience. Jennifer had unprotected sex fairly young and got upduffed, but 40 years or so later, Phoebe has sex that turned out to be unprotected, goes of to a pharmacy and sorts it, continues with University studies. In keeping also with the downward trend in teenage pregnancy thanks, in part, to easier access and knowledge of contraception.

RolfNotRudolf · 13/08/2017 07:20

You've done a grand job Pseudo Badger thank you. Flowers Cake

RolfNotRudolf · 13/08/2017 07:23

Flop that's my preferred outcome too and I hope you're right.
It's such an annoying trope of Soapland that women who don't want to get pregnant do get pregnant, and women who do want babies have trouble getting them.

cheminotte · 13/08/2017 08:04

We'll miss you Pseudo .
The over the counter cost of the MAP has been in the news recently so maybe this is a public service that it is available for free at sexual health clinics.

DadDadDad · 13/08/2017 08:41

pseudo - what a bombshell! Grin Enjoy your break. Thanks for the ride so far - 79 threads! Archers

So, who's going to take up the mantle of continuing these threads? There's a few prolific posters here who could do it: ppeatfruit, EBearHug, TheAntiBoop...

ppeatfruit · 13/08/2017 11:29

Well done for all your sterling work, through babies etc Grin psuedo I don't blame you taking a break from the stress of it!

I take breaks too so wouldn't be reliable enough Dad Thank you for thinking of me though! What about you? Or whoever wants to do it, with our help, if they want it, when the time arrives?

Who heard Lily mention puddings before she announced the 'sweets' table in the film just now? Grin

RolfNotRudolf · 13/08/2017 12:00

Perhaps we could do a Have I Got New For You thing with a different thread- starter every time - not that I'm suggesting PB and Angus Deayton have remotely anything in common Shock
But I'm sure if someone steps forward to take over the role we'll all happily agree. Smile

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/08/2017 15:07

Thanks, Pseudo, and I hope you'll be back when you're ready.

Not pleased with this Phoebe storyline at all. We saw it coming on the spoilers thread and I promised over there to chain myself to the railings at the Mailbox if she drops out of Oxford. Gruach is going to keep me company, so I won't be lonely.

Travelledtheworld · 13/08/2017 19:11

Crikey, Anisha is such a nasty bitch.
I don't really like Alistair either but the way she speaks to him is just vile. I pity any bloke she hooks up with....
Why doesn't Alistair just dissolve the partnership?

AuldHeathen · 13/08/2017 19:27

For once l think Anisha is right. Alistair is expecting her to cover for him at very short notice with no explanation. She is right to expect some explanation.

Interesting to hear Will again, and he's still as petty and nasty as before. Sad for ClarrieLove. I hope the building project goes ahead, just so Emma and Ed and the children get their house. They need a bit of luck. I hope too it would mean Emma no longer talking about it.

I hope you enjoy your internet break, Pseudo. And thanks for all the threads from me too.

Ceto · 13/08/2017 19:29

I don't think they're setting Phoebe up to drop out of Oxford. It looks to me more as if they're positioning Lexie to hook up with Roy - witness all the mentions of her daughters of a similar age to Phoebe, and how Phoebe needed a mother figure because Kate's a flake and Hayley's too far away.

AuldHeathen · 13/08/2017 19:33

Dissolving the partnership would cost him, and wouldn't be useful to him. Anisha is very direct but she isn't always wron. I wonder if some listeners find her voice harsh because it's Scottish. Smile

Mootsie · 13/08/2017 20:37

Is Emma's longing for one of the affordable houses the elephant in the room at Grange Farm? Clarrie must surely be tempted to ask how on earth they're going to be able to pay the rent without Ed and Emma's contribution?

That's if Oliver lets them stay on.

BertrandRussell · 14/08/2017 00:49

What's Anisha done wrong? I think she was pretty measured in the circumstances.......

R4 · 14/08/2017 08:40

I don't think that Anisha was measured. Alistair has run a practice for decades and knows what he is doing so to accuse your partner of "rookie errors" is belittling. She would do much better to talk to Al instead of berating him. She knows that there is something deeply personal that is troubling him and she knows that he and his wife are grieving but she is not giving any slack. The caring response is "is there anything I can do to help" not "I'm going to winkle his secret out, no matter what". I wouldn't confide in Ms-Know-It-All because you know that she would use that weakness as a stick with which to beat you.
Al has handled this far from perfectly but Anisha is being another problem, not a supportive partner. Al has brought this on himself: he went into partnership far too early, she should have spent longer as an employee first to see if they were compatible. A definite case of "marry in haste, repent at leisure".
Anisha was not measured - it's not in her character. She is brusque to the point of rudeness (to everyone, not just Al).

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2017 08:48

I'm with you R4 (btw do you fancy psuedo's job ?). Anisha comes across as an emotionally immature player. I also pity Rex.

Imbroglio · 14/08/2017 08:52

Agree with you R4.

Anisha also seems to have forgotten about her horse.

R4 · 14/08/2017 09:22

That's kind of you pp but you would be so much better at pseudo's job. see, a bit of politeness and flattery takes you a long way. Are you listening Anisha? Grin
Seriously, many thanks pb, you have been a star. Hope you are back soon after your sojourn.

An interesting point about Anisha and Rex. For someone as dynamic and full of herself as she is, Anisha seems to choose to hang out with some pretty undynamic people (Al, Rex).
I'm looking forward, in twenty years time, to hearing Anisha downing JDs in Jaxx muttering, "I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody".

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2017 09:49

Thanks R4 But as I mentioned to Dad I often have on line breaks (I'm due one soon actually !) So I won't always be around at the time of need! Maybe we could all take it in turns inspired by ideas from other interested parties!
