Justin is a vindictive bully

This. If he doesn't understand that Lilian still needs to be her own woman, he's going to end up disappointed, though probably while hurting Lilian in the process, despite all the promises he made to Peggy. (Not that he'd have said, "oh, it's all going to be fine while it's going my way, but I'm a vindictive bastard if people don't toe the line I set.")

BertrandRussell · 24/07/2017 06:35

There really is no justification for Justin's behaviour to Matt.

birdsdestiny · 24/07/2017 06:57

There was no justification for Matt trying to mess up the bridge farm deal.

EBearhug · 24/07/2017 07:33

That's true, but in other worlds, it might have triggered them to get a proper valuation done, which they should have had for the mortgage to pay all the legal bills anyway.

But whatever- I think wrecking the investment day probably makes them quits. Wanting to totally crush Matt is just vindictive.

birdsdestiny · 24/07/2017 07:37

The fact that bridge farm didn't get a valuation is nothing to do with Justin though. I am team Justin Grin. I know that following my declaration that the writer's will now turn him into Rob 2 but I don't care, I loathe Matt.

R4 · 24/07/2017 08:22

I am neither Team Justin nor Team Matt nor Team Lilian. If they all bring each other down then that's fine by me.

Vango · 24/07/2017 08:23

Agree with this, to an extent. But from Justin's point of view it must be really, really annoying to have Lillian's ex actively trying to win her back and hanging around like an annoying wasp. It's putting Lillian in an awkward position and that's clearly getting on his wick.

Imbroglio · 24/07/2017 08:41

Which of Matt or Justin is most likely to leave James with no inheritance?

R4 · 24/07/2017 09:19

Which of Matt or Justin is most likely to leave James with no inheritance?

Ha! That's a very Lilian way of thinking. Last I heard, James was a fully functioning adult with no reason not to earn his own money.
I've never understood how JD and Lilian seem to think that the world owes them a glamorous, well-to-do lifestyle when they never came from such in the first place.

Imbroglio · 24/07/2017 09:21

It's a very James way of thinking.

R4 · 24/07/2017 09:23

Like mother, like son.

Gruach · 24/07/2017 14:08

I don't believe Alice would say "her and Emma" - with no preposition ahead of it. Hmm

Gumpendorf · 24/07/2017 15:52

Popping in from the spoilers' thread to post this early Jill Archer clip. Patricia Greene's reaction says it all. Grin

Alice and Pip missed their chance there for a topical insert about women's cricket.

Imbroglio · 25/07/2017 19:08

David. Charming as ever.

TheAntiBoop · 25/07/2017 19:12

The redemption of Roy?

TheAntiBoop · 25/07/2017 19:15

I wouldn't be very happy if I was hit in the face with a flapjack. Provoked or not. But maybe it's all ok because she's old and mc

Minimammoth · 25/07/2017 19:46

We've just spent a day at the Royal Welsh. Not an Archer in sight. I would have thought it the perfect place to show prize cattle, flaunt your cheese. Etc

Cromwell1536 · 25/07/2017 20:31

Can't the scriptwriters provide David with a better follow-up than 'Whaattt????' and repeating the last word said to him, "Arrested? " The writers for Dead Ringers could do a better job than this lot.

I think it quite funny that Jill launched a flapjack though. Although of course, in real life, civil disorder and common assault are v serious indeed. What's mc? Oh, middle class?

R4 · 25/07/2017 20:55

I must admit that I was disappointed with David's response to learning that the memorial will be at Grange Farm. He thought "bet the Grundys will mess up". He should have thought "For the sake of Caroline, Oliver and Shula what can we do to make sure the Grundys don't mess up".

EBearhug · 25/07/2017 23:59

I hope it does not end badly, with her being arrested or some such.

Oh, I think a scene between Harrison and Jill (who are both getting quite a bit of airtime at the moment,) could be quite entertaining.

See, I could have written that episode.

EBearhug · 26/07/2017 00:03

Yeah, but harvest is in full swing. Grain farmers don't really have much time to spare at this time of year. (My father died at the start of harvest some years back.)

Minimammoth · 26/07/2017 06:17

You and me both Ebear! What is she thinking wasting good flapjack.

R4 · 26/07/2017 08:25

Yeah, but harvest is in full swing. Grain farmers don't really have much time to spare at this time of year

Yeah, which is why I had David saying what can we do about it. I realise that he is busy but he could have done his patrician thing and rallied troops. After all, his mum seems have enough time on her handsHmm and there are plenty other non-farmers around: Jim, Robert, FairBro, Bert, Kenton, Jolene, Lil, Lily, Kirsty, Alice, ...

JessieMcJessie · 26/07/2017 14:19

Heee hee I've been listening to Patricia Greene on Woman's Hour and they've been playing archive clips. Just heard a great one in which Jill is pregnant with David and trying to convince Phil to agree to a home birth- as she is putting her argument forward toddler Shula is whingeing in the corner and there is a MARVELLOUS bit where Jill's snaps "Oh DO be quiet Shula" - I almost applauded 😀. Well worth a listen!
