Hides in laundry rooms

OP posts:

The new Eastern European character annoys me. She is supposed to not have very good English, but actually her grammar is perfect, she's just got a bit of a comedy accent.

Reminds me of the nanny in Clare in the Community.

TheAntiBoop · 26/07/2017 19:11

I hope Harrison's family stay well away

What's Lexie got to hide from the police?

TheAntiBoop · 26/07/2017 19:12

Agree grumpy - very odd.

TheAntiBoop · 26/07/2017 19:14

The Lexie Roy scene was pathetic. Better plotting sw!!

Jill is really irritating me.

R4 · 26/07/2017 19:27

What's Lexi got to hide from the police?

Dunno what she's so worried about. It's not as if Harrison ever solves any crimes. The only person he has ever banged up was Jill, who committed the offence right in front of his nose.

cheminotte · 26/07/2017 21:31

Loving all the old Jill clips on Woman's Hour this week.

C8H10N4O2 · 26/07/2017 21:37

What's Lexie got to hide from the police?

Lexie's reaction to 'not want any trouble' is entirely normal for a victim of racist abuse who are routinely blamed for the abuse.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/07/2017 21:48

Thanks for the link to that bit of video, Gump, it was great!

Anybody else suspect Hugh Canoe said to Patricia Greene '60 years in TA, what an achievement - is there anything you'd like us to get Jill to do to celebrate?' Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/07/2017 01:26

Lexi and Roy will bond when he shares with her his racist past and how he has learned from it.

Anyone want to hazard a guess how the Ambridge Money Fairy will cause Farrison to raise enough dosh to buy Woodbine Cottage?

Gruach · 27/07/2017 08:38

What happened to the random bigwig who invested in Fallon's upcycling business - couple of years ago? As far as I remember they were referred to once. Hmm

Haven't got round to PG on WH - but I remember, in some other interview, her utter disgust at the way Jill was blatantly sidelined in the ongoing Brookfield story, particularly when it came to Phil's dividing of the spoils. So can well imagine that she's finally getting her reward!

sn1ce · 27/07/2017 14:16

De-lurking to say that I for one will be v annoyed if Oliver's fury over the mis-use of Grange Farm disappears just because Clarrielove makes a few meat paste sandwiches and a fruit cake for the funeral tea!
Unfortunately the SWs seem to have painted themselves into a corner with the Grundys as they are essential to the programme but essentially homeless but for the grace of others. I remember the whole Meadow Rise era which was heartbreaking but really well written and acted-Joe and the ferrets! sob!
The only way out if Oliver doesn't turn Ambridge housing fairy again perhaps would be for Eddie and Clarrie to end up in a tied cottage sort of thing at Grey Gables/Lower Loxley where Eddie becomes the groundsman and Clarrie some sort of housekeeper/cleaner.

Cromwell1536 · 27/07/2017 15:24

That's a good idea sn1. I also would like to see Uhd-aay reaping what he sows and Oliver sticking to his line. Suspect he won't though. He'll want to see Grange Farm with a family in it, or some such, in which case, why not the Grundies.

Your suggestion reminds me of family history. My paternal great grandparents lived in a tied cottage on the Mount Edgecumbe estate. My great grandfather skippered the Earl's yacht and then ran the passenger ferry to Plymouth. Then my grandfather took over the ferry and the cottage and my grandmother was in service in the house. Seems very feudal now, but I suppose TA is somewhat feudal still!

TheAntiBoop · 27/07/2017 18:29

Agree sn

I don't like the grundys much at the moment

EBearhug · 27/07/2017 18:56

I also would like to see Uhd-aay reaping what he sows and Oliver sticking to his line.

Oliver's already been very apologetic, according to Shula, so...

I grew up in a tied cottage. It is pretty feudal.

DoctorTwo · 27/07/2017 19:16

That was beautifully done, except for the last bit.

BertrandRussell · 27/07/2017 19:22

I've already forgotten what the last bit was.....

TheAntiBoop · 27/07/2017 19:50

I don't believe for a minute the jug could have been fixed for so well given the sound effect of it smashing.

The intentions in that final scene were good but it was a bit wrong somehow. Felt like a script somehow rather than listening in.

Otherwise it was nicely done

AuntyElle · 27/07/2017 20:47

Goodness, I found that a bit heavy handed. And the Ed as a broken chalice, now mended... dear me.

AuntyElle · 27/07/2017 21:09

I mean heavy-handed in the format of piece of music followed by 'light' anecdote, tinkly laughter. I felt the lack of someone expressing raw grief.

echt · 27/07/2017 22:19

The Rosetti poem in the service made me smile. It must be difficult for actors who (I imagine) can read poetry, to act the part of someone who can't. A bit like Les Dawson's mangled piano playing.

KingscoteStaff · 28/07/2017 10:36

More wonderful Paddy Greene on Woman's Hour today.

Ceto · 28/07/2017 11:20

If Ed is that good at mending broken pottery, he ought to go into antiques restoration. Maybe he could join Fallon's business?

mermaidsandunicorns · 28/07/2017 19:04

Hello all have been lurking here
What was the poem about the crematorium and not taking too long I thought it was lovely

Vango · 28/07/2017 19:14

Right so. ed and the world's most whiny woman will get Grange Farm. Sad

Bea · 28/07/2017 19:14

I luvs Ed!!
