So many possibilities.... A visit from the Titcheners Snr? Baby of the wrong gender? A ruined wedding? Re-housed Grundys? RuthRex?

FFS - So I see Pat's personality transplant is now complete.

PseudoBadger · 23/11/2015 22:10

"Well I only know because it was exactly what I was thinking when I wrote Cowman Sam"

Your phrasing captured my imagination! But no-one noticed for nearly a day

We have clearly both been traumatised by over exposure (no not like that!)

I think part of the reason I hate pc plod is because he reminds me of fireman Sam (goody two shoes emergency services worker who can't seem to leave his work behind in his free time)

although I will be forever grateful to fireman Sam for helping to potty train ds so quickly

Keri Davies's tweet for those not on Twitter:

Just spent a very enjoyable couple of hours at the Mailbox, seeing a Rather Big Episode of mine expertly directed.

Hmmm. That could go out any time between now and New Year, couldn't it?

DadDadDad · 23/11/2015 22:54

To answer an earlier question: on a previous thread, NorthernLurker calculated a due date for Helen of 19/5/2016 (based on conception that fateful night assuming 4 week cycle) which would mean we are coming up to the end of week 15.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/11/2015 22:55

... which fits exactly with Rob booking Helen in for a 16-week scan. Of course, he's used to monitoring and controlling the fertility of female animals, isn't he? Sad

vandubby · 23/11/2015 22:59

I'm delurking because I have to say, just once, that surely ALL of Ruth's farm involvement issues could be solved by A WEEKLY MEETING. Do they NEVER have any kind of a catch up with each other about farm business? ?!!! They live in the same house ffs. Right. Have been shouting 'HAVE A MEETING ' at the radio for weeks now. It's too late. But I feel better Smile

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/11/2015 23:04

Well done, vandubby! No need to go back to lurking. We all shout at the radio on this thread! I certainly do - e.g when CloneofPat started saying tonight what a good idea it was for Rob to book a scan for Helen as a surprise and how much he must care for her. What has happened to her? Who thinks this way?

BertrandRussell · 23/11/2015 23:21

I am so cross about Pat. But I have always been cross about Pat. She was the token feminist for everybody to mock and hate. She was the token hippy for everyone to mock and hate. She was the token organic farmer for everyone to mock and hate. And now she's some sort of pod person for everyone to mock and hate........

BYOSnowman · 23/11/2015 23:25

Legal action by ruth

BYOSnowman · 23/11/2015 23:29

I also like he article on pat in there as well. And the ludicrousness of the bull not having a chef for grand reopening

FloraDiesEarly · 24/11/2015 00:02

Talking of chefs, why are Ian and Adam having their wedding meal at The Bull? Surely Ian would want somewhere with better food? I know they've had a wedding before and he wouldn't exactly want to go to Grey Gables etc etc but still...

Gruach · 24/11/2015 00:12

Why are they having their wedding meal at The Bull?

Because it would sound silly if they renamed it The Queen Vic ...

ColdTeaAgain · 24/11/2015 00:54

I mostly lurk but had to post about the scans since this is my field!

So Knob has booked a private gender scan, these cost as little as fifty quid these days so not really splashing out big time. The earliest they are done is 16 weeks so he's clearly done his research and got her booked in as early as possible of course. I daresay he looked into harmony tests as well but given they more advertised as genetic screening then I reckon he would of dismissed it knowing it would look far too OTT and make Helen think about his motives.

In theory they could get the sex wrong at the gender scan and find out at their 20 week they were told the wrong gender, but since the whole point of the scan is to spend plenty of time looking with a high quality scanner, I would find that twist pretty poor writing!

I think back when the midwife pointedly told Helen that she could always talk to her about anything will be significant as this pans out. The midwife will start picking up on things if she is any good and start asking the right questions.

Surely Rob won't attend every appointment....although how will she get there now she "can't" drive?

Also, has Helen even said anything about whether she wants to know the gender? Maybe she would like a suprise. Wouldn't that piss him off if she told no to the scan! Not that she would dare, she is far too afraid of him now

ColdTeaAgain · 24/11/2015 01:01

and yes to him being irratated at Pat being there, even though she has been siding with him he most definately doesn't have any regard for her. Am pretty sure he hinted to her not to bother Helen by going round? so finding her there meant that she had not obeyed him Grin

Those Archers just all need to learn to do as they are told!

ColdTeaAgain · 24/11/2015 01:14

*Irritated

It also seems like Helen has barely seen Henry lately, she seems sad yet defeated about Robs persistance that Henry need to let Mummy rest.

This probably wasn't the best thread to read when I can't get to sleep!

EBearhug · 24/11/2015 01:25

I have been told I will be having goose for Christmas dinner. (I'm not doing the catering.) I feel like I am letting the Grundys down.

(I'm not going to Ambridge for Christmas, either.)

SladeGreen · 24/11/2015 04:58

I'm on Team Ruth! I hope she has a cracking time in NZ and comes back to give David his marching orders

I can't stand David. He can be a soppy wet blanket at the best of times, and Pip can't be all that "bright" either if she can't work out why her (grieving) mum feels the way she does.

BOOP Point from the omnibus though (just caught up on 4 weeks worth) - I loved the saucy jokes between Neil and Susan "you can pull out now before it goes too far, as the actress said to the bishop." Grin

AnnieNoMouse · 24/11/2015 07:09

Gasp KD said further down that twitter thread that the episode will be broadcast before Christmas.
BYOS that link is brilliant, thank you

vixsatis · 24/11/2015 08:39

Have a look at the Grundys' turkey page on Facebook! I couldn't quite work out how to order one but Clarrie's recipe will come in handy

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/11/2015 09:33

Thanks, Annie!

redshoeblueshoe · 24/11/2015 09:47

Another vote for Team Ruth. How dare Daveed discuss everything with Jill and Pipsqueak.

As for Pat - she told Knob it was a shame he was going for the job.

I can't imagine there is any of Hellin's dowry left. I think I need to bang my head against a brick wall Angry Sad

trevortrevorslatterfry · 24/11/2015 10:02

Ha ha to that link - a why aye man for the cows! Love it BYOS

lljkk · 24/11/2015 10:14

If Rooth is a peri-menopause story, it's a pretty awful one in suggesting that hormonal middle aged women are completely irrational self-centred gits. In contrast, Debbie, Shula, Usha & Elizabeth did sail/are sailing thru perimeno with delightful grace.

David etc. could do no right whatever they did about making decisions
