Sexy sex on lovely legs, shearing sheep bare-chested. Tell us how you picture the good folk of Ambridge (and feel free to discuss anything else rural soap-related).

For me, that describes Ed. Some strange people think that it describes Jazzer.
Does it matter what they look like? We know and love their voices (except you Pip)

The 'you ladies' is what makes that post particularly genius!

That and the use of "myself".

I'd love the Relationships regulars to be let loose on Rotaboy.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/07/2014 19:25

(Brilliant work again Blue )

GypsyFloss · 25/07/2014 19:34

Bluestocking that was fantastic, totally heard Rotaboy in my head as I read it. Especially on the " love them to bits" lines.

What a bloody flounce that was from him tonight. He's going to blow their cover in no time at all. Stupid stupid twunt.

Loved Carol. I want her to stay and question everything in the village. She'd have no qualms about asking about HelRob and his divorce.

Icimoi · 25/07/2014 19:45

Rotaboy's perception of himself as a "plaything" was hilarious. He so thinks in clichés, doesn't he?

GypsyFloss · 25/07/2014 19:59

He's got a long standing love affair going on in his head. Lizzie is so going to regret breaking the two golden rules ...don't fuck the payroll and don't crap on your own doorstep. ACAS and a constructive dismissal are on the cards I hope Grin

Bluestocking · 25/07/2014 20:07

Blush Thanks all! These threads are getting to be even more fun than the actual programme. I certainly didn't anticipate Rotaboy flouncing off like that - I was sure he was going to stick around, staying just on the right side of boiling Topper, and driving Lizzie increasingly to distraction.

I do hope Carol/Eleanor Bron sticks around for a while - she sounds awesome and I agree that she would have absolutely no compunction about getting everybody's skeletons out of their closets for a good old rattle.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 25/07/2014 20:40

I thought carol was over invested in ambridge and was being a bit of a nasty stirrer too

Hated the way they got her to drop in how good looking Roy is. Very contrived to try and convince listeners he's not as imagined

I also thought his strop was out of character.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 25/07/2014 20:42

Also, Roy has a good story for Hayley

Lizzie gets what she wants and she wanted him damn the consequences. He was taken advantage of etc etc. like that film with Demi Moore and Michael Douglas.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/07/2014 20:48

Just occurred to me that Radio was so obsessed with her conviction that JD had an affair with JT that she missed the shenanigans going on right under her nose Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/07/2014 21:16

Getting Roy to don a waitress pinny was a little contrived - I'm sure a more suitable, junior member of LL staff would have welcomed an extra shift. Was quite funny but hardly realistic.

Bluestocking · 25/07/2014 21:35

You're right about Carol's most unconvincing "he's HOT!" moment. Perhaps this is signalling that she's got cataracts - Jill nearly runs her grandson over, Carol mistakes Bri-Nylon Roy for a handsome hunk.
She may well be over-invested in Ambridge - maybe it was the scene of the best years of her life? Or perhaps she's a devotee of revenge served very, very cold and has been planning a nasty surprise for JD.

Bluestocking · 25/07/2014 21:36

Sorry, flipping ipad.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 25/07/2014 21:55

Life is waaaay too short to be planning such long revenge! I just thought it was all a bit petty and unbecoming to mention at a wake!

Also why mention toms wedding - it's clearly a soft spot for the family. Just felt it was susanesque really and a bit low

I didn't get if the daughter was there (isn't she Lillian's goddaughter)? Was only half listening

This seems like another long line of contrived situations to try and eek out a dramatic storyline. I guess carol will be sticking around if she is visiting Peggy with photos of jack (wtf is that all about - is that really the only way to cheer Peggy up?). But will she be of the Jess variety,a fleeting visit to start an unlikely storyline for an existing character

ppeatfruit · 26/07/2014 07:59

I wonder if they can afford to pay Eleanor Bron for more than a couple of days?? I LOVE her her voice is great ( i was wondering if they'd got the old actress but she's probably SOTMC).

I was also wondering if the strop from rotaboy and the compliment from Carol will change Lizzie's mind ????

GypsyFloss · 26/07/2014 08:25

I'm so not falling for Rotaboy being "hot" . That's more bollox that Bolloxfest.

I'm really hoping Carol sticks around and questions everything. The village definitely needs someone to ask the unasked questions and who better than an old villager who may or may not have an axe to grind. As long as they don't turn her into a pantomime baddy like Hazel.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/07/2014 08:44

I think she was actually trying to say 'He's so hot in that polyester!' but got cut off.

ppeatfruit · 26/07/2014 08:54

Yes AllMimsy Grin she was going to ask Roy for the name of his tailor Grin

GypsyFloss · 26/07/2014 09:01

Hahaha.

Eastpoint · 26/07/2014 13:36

Ppeatfruit I think they are all paid a minimal amount, I think they pay each actor a set rate if they are needed.

I don't understand why Elizabeth insisted on Roy serving, surely he should be supervising & a few waitresses be actually handing the glasses round.

Thinking a bit, shouldn't Pip be back soon having finished her placement? She usually picks up some hours at Lower Loxley.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/07/2014 13:56

Well I hope I grow up to be Eleanor Bron - in looks and voice and talent at least (don't know anything else about her.)

But if I were a regular member of the cast I might feel a little peeved at the amount of time BBC national news has spent fainting with awe at her arrival. Surely it's somewhat disrespectful to everyone else?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 26/07/2014 14:05

I agree about looks & voice, Zero, but what's weird is that Carol doesn't (IMO) sound anything like Eleanor Bron - that's why I was shocked when they said it was her!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/07/2014 15:29

...Thus underlining her talent?

Must say, more than once when I've heard an amazing voice on the radio it's turned out to be her.

(Although I had to listen with forgiving ears to Carol wiping the floor with Jenny. I'm sure with more airtime they would have made that less sledgehammer-y.)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/07/2014 17:55

....Oooh - Jarvis Cocker on Betjeman tomorrow. R4 at 4.30pm. (Cancel your plans Blue!)

The Guardian, btw, writes "Quaintance Smith". Which is even worse.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/07/2014 17:59

Sledgehammer-y is the perfect word for last nights episode!!
