Why is Lillian allowing this to happen?

FFS Lil, he's just a bit on the side. If he pisses you off just bin him. Don't start sounding so downtrodden.

She's always got some miserable storyline so we can enjoy her whining Hmm Now it's the golf club (boring).

Somethingyesterday · 24/07/2013 14:45

I was wondering if potential redundancy was too obvious and that actually they're setting up the tedious man as a new love-interest for her.

GrimmaTheNome · 24/07/2013 14:48

I think with Kathy, they belatedly realised they hadn't had her in the script for a while and needed one episode of her not whingeing before she heard about Kenton and Jolene.

OliviaIsOffTheGinMumsnet · 24/07/2013 14:57

But she doesn't still love Kenton does she?
I cant remember how they broke up tbh

Somethingyesterday · 24/07/2013 15:05

Yes but she couldn't have avoided hearing about it. I will refuse to believe it if they try that!

Oddly enough I also can't remember why they broke up. I know his fling with a Jaxx customer was after he had moved out. Blank. Confused

Gigondas · 24/07/2013 15:16

She went all Lilian over death of Sid - then Kenton slept with customer and they span the whole break up thing over months . I seem to remember her whining to pat a lot about it.

I find it odd she has had so many partners as she isn't an attractive character .

HearMyRoar · 24/07/2013 19:08

why does anthea keep calling Lillian Mrs Bellamy? its weird and a bit creepy.

Not so long ago, that was normal professional behaviour, you know. I don't know how old Anthea is supposed to be, probably old enough to prefer not to address her employer familiarly.

HearMyRoar · 24/07/2013 19:40

I can't imagine having someone I work with all day, everyday call me Ms Roar and I work with people of all ages. I am clearly shockingly young and relaxed Grin

lljkk · 24/07/2013 19:48

But what is it about Hellin's love life? The one time she meets an ordinary nice guy he runs a mile because of the circumstances of Henry's conception. Every other twerp she gets with is angst ridden melancholic egotist. Tony may be grumpy but I can't see how his example led to Hellin wanting such weird guys for partners.

PseudoBadger · 24/07/2013 19:56

It's not Helen's love life that is the problem. It is Helen herself! She truly is a shocking person.

I find her merely - bland.

Can you explain why she is so deeply unpopular?

ppeatfruit · 24/07/2013 20:30

Hellin is a bit damaged by the death of eldest brother and suicide of her lover who was an older man, leading to her anorexia. IMO she's not shocking just very selfish (conception of Henry being a case in point). She swore she'd be able to cope as a single mum but moved into Pat and Tony's at the first sign of trouble!!

Somethingyesterday · 24/07/2013 20:50

You see I didn't perceive the Henry story as selfishness. I concede she is rather needy...

But her relationship with Greg was one of my Archer highlights - even though they handled the lead up to his suicide rather unconvincingly. I'll never forget Brian and Will arriving at the cottage to find him..

ppeatfruit · 24/07/2013 21:05

Well IMO if someone wants a babee so much that they're quite happy to have one with out thinking how the CHILD will feel when he understands that he can't know his father till he's 18 or 16 whatever. Then IMO that is pure selfishness.

Gigondas · 24/07/2013 22:35

Yes and having a baby to try to failfixing your many psychological hang ups is selfish too.

She also must be as daft as a brush to be surprised at appearance of robs wife.

I am only hoping Brenda story doesn't end badly too.

R4 · 24/07/2013 23:06

She also must be as daft as a brush to be surprised at appearance of Rob's wife.

There is just so much that doesn't ring true in TA these days. A lot of it is unbelievable.

Gigondas · 25/07/2013 05:42

Too right r4. Even comedy plots like jazzer and his clan lord are clunky as hell.

ppeatfruit · 25/07/2013 05:42

I don't know R4 there's some very odd folks about in RL too!!! Hellin has always been weird! You should hear some of the things that have happened in our village!

PseudoBadger · 25/07/2013 11:17

Sorry my dislike for Helen is only deepened by the dislike felt for her over on the old (and new) ML boards.

OP posts:
Panzee · 25/07/2013 16:23

New ML boards? Where?

lljkk · 25/07/2013 20:35

And how big is Ambridge? I compare it to villages I know and it seems like an awfully humming place.

Active parish council.
2 large old manors/hotels/conference/wedding venues
A popular annual fete of varying themes
A golf course
The Borchester Land estate, with annual shoot, other events
An annual panto (mostly)
Several weekly classes in the village hall
Weekly toddler group
At least 3 farms (was 4) with active dairy production
A community shop, with PO still??
A thriving cricket team

But no school. Confused
The villages I know without schools are soul-less.
Typically only 2-3 farms that are really attached to the village, probably none of them in dairy production.
A bunch of turkey or poultry sheds would be true, though (definitely not free range).
It doesn't ring true, that's all. Too much economic activity. Where are the hordes of commuters to the cities?

Kiriwawa · 25/07/2013 20:42

I'm a single parent by choice because it was the only way I was ever going to be a mother. My DS is fabulous and very well loved but I'm clearly a fucking selfish bitch Hmm

:(

Kiriwawa · 25/07/2013 20:43

I do still hate Hellin though :o

Gigondas · 25/07/2013 20:43

Eh kiriwawa? Discussion was about fictional character - not about any parent who has a child alone .
