Why is Lillian allowing this to happen?

FFS Lil, he's just a bit on the side. If he pisses you off just bin him. Don't start sounding so downtrodden.

Oh dear, Something, you are right and I am suitably chastened Blush
I will go off and drown myself in a slurry pit or Bridge Farm's Poo Lagoon.

And, for the avoidance of all doubt...

THE ARCHERS ARE REAL!! THERE IS NO CAST!!!

I'm confused with the lady lamb killer Pip results too, surprised she passed anything she never does any work !

RocknRollNerd · 28/06/2013 18:29

I think Pip's only done 2 years at Felpersham Ag or wherever she's studying.

I'm presuming that we're going to get 2 or 3 AmEx plots then over the Summer: 1) Matt/Lil, 2) I reckon will be Daniel (and possibly Jamie who is now flush with sheep shearing cash) in America because let's face it they seem to do dreadful accents every Summer for Amex cf Sith Efrica last year and New Zaylund with Jolene/Kenton. Number 3 I suspect might be Pip's adventures in t'North (thereby also providing more accent potential).

The last couple of times they've done a couple of major plots for Amex and then shoe-horned in a rushed 2 weeker like the Alan and the alcoholic vicar and the hurried trip to wherever it was that Fallon shagged Jazzer and whatsisface the cyclist got written out.

If this becomes an Archer's board will I still be allowed to try to persuade you all to listen to the Bugle from time to time? Please pretty please Grin and why don't you all listen to it now in anycase dammit

PS and totally off radio topic but this is the only other place to reliably find Olivia - don't you think: Der Secret Service gibt keine Auskunft ueber Sicherheitsmassnahme has a certain (slightly sinister) ring to it? I'm watching WW in German at the moment (I decided it was an acceptable way to brush up my German). I paused it and wrote it down for you especially!

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/06/2013 20:14

Oh RNRN, you sound like the ideal person to bring AmEx synopses to us

And what is this bugle of which you speak?

OliviaYouCannotBSeriousMumsnet · 28/06/2013 22:58

R4 · 29/06/2013 20:37

pp trying searching TSSDNCOP

RocknRollNerd · 30/06/2013 08:36

BoW The Bugle is a great weekly podcast - strapline: Audio Newspaper for a Visual World. It's comedy/satire and is basically John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman taking the piss out of the weeks news. Thread about it here. Although it's definitely funny it's also actually quite informative, they do a lot of research and I've probably learned more about some things through listening to it than I have on the news! Give it a try....

I'm more than happy to try to recap Amex if you would like - I listen on podcasts so they might be a couple of days behind but given the vaguaries of the Amex timeline in anycase that probably won't matter.

Olivia - you're welcome! I thought I also wrote down 'steampipe trunk distribution venue' but I can't find it - unsurprisingly it was a helluva long word!

pppeatfruit - it's a line used in the West Wing and Olivia has a penchant for quoting it when people are demanding explanations as to why MNHQ did stuff Grin

ppeatfruit · 30/06/2013 10:33

Yes thanks I remember it now ; The Secret Service Does Not Countenance....oh i don't remember it ALL!!

Fiderer · 30/06/2013 10:55

Comment on Procedure.

Watching WW in German is wrong on so many levels but I admire your pluck, RockNRollNerd at considering the steam pipe distribution venue. I'm fairly fluent in German (live here/there) but I'd bust a gasket at translating that.

I vaguely remember the Matt & money bit. Shula got a mortgage on the stables to pay Alistair's debts as well.

Haven't listed to TA for ages - is there really a new Clarrie?

RocknRollNerd · 30/06/2013 11:59

Lol Fiderer, in my defence I've watched it through so many times in English it isn't too bad. I figured it was a fun way to dust off my German as I used to live there but don't get to hear it or use it much! It does feel. A bit wrong though as the voices are so different, it took me ages to work out who was who!

ppeatfruit · 30/06/2013 12:40

Thanks fiderer Grin There's a new OLD actress as Clarrie (according to one of the experts upthread Grin) the new actress was the first to play Clarrie!

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 30/06/2013 21:40

What has happened to Fallon? I'm only a sporadic listener. I'm disappointed she and Jazzer didn't get together properly. Where is she now ?!

PseudoBadger · 30/06/2013 21:46

She fulfilled her requirement of one or two intensive storylines. Therefore she'll next appear in 2016 or thereabouts :o

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 30/06/2013 22:01

Ha - but sadly true. It's increasingly feeling like scriptwriting by numbers, isn't it.

Ponders · 30/06/2013 22:12

So does a speaking part for Jago (FFS!!! Why did he & his mrs have to have Cornish names??? Just as likely to be called Jake and Melissa or John & Mary surely?) & all that sentimental guff about passing on the torch of farming heritage merely signify the end of an era at Bridge Farm?

Or is lonely cow going to test positive & poor old jago be stuffed before he even starts???

Somethingyesterday · 30/06/2013 23:45

What has happened to Fallon ?

Well I guess it's one of two things:

Either: the SWs wish to make a profound point about the hopelessness of life for young women in rural communities if they do not happen to be the offspring of fantastically successful farmers - consider Fallon / Kirsty / Emma as opposed to Debbie / Alice / Pip.

Or: they've just forgotten that they have to build her a future.

ppeatfruit · 01/07/2013 08:14

But she's manager of Jaxx and engaged? and or living with Rhys isn't she? So not bad for a publican's( local non rich farmer's )daughter

GrimmaTheNome · 01/07/2013 08:27

Fallon and Rhys are happy at the moment, her job is going well and therefore from a SWs POV they are completely boring. They're probably right on that.

OliviaYouCannotBSeriousMumsnet · 01/07/2013 09:25

Lonely cow AS to be positive
I have to say I thought the TB thing was all cleared up
Wouldn't you have delayed the sale?!?!

Somethingyesterday · 01/07/2013 09:37

Yes but no but ...

The thing with Fallon is that she "has" settled, rather than "is" settled. She has spent years on the cusp of a bright faraway future. I can't remember anything about her educational background but she has definitely been written as belonging to a group of people whose choices and aspirations have been severely limited by reality.

Kirsty - with her eco-warrior background - really ought to be something magnificent in European environmental research by now. Instead she's "working two jobs" in Borchester.

Poor Emma. Literally. So drop-dead gorgeous that two brothers will live a lifetime of bitter enmity over her. But stalled at an NVQ in complaining. (While her brother was allowed to get an amazing qualification....)

Oh God. I sound like Xenia. And I really, really don't want to. But the more I think about it, the more it seems that the SWs have been writing within the scope of her agenda.

Debbie, Alice, Pip have all grown into a life of choices. It's terrifying.

Brillig · 01/07/2013 10:39

GrinGrin at something

ppeatfruit · 01/07/2013 10:46

I know it's not RL but for once the SWs have got it right IMHO something someone's got to keep the wheels of commerce and child care etc. turning ;we can't ALL be high fliers (nor would we all want to be I couldn't think of anything worse actually).
Would you wish the life of a Big brother winner on Emma!? Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 01/07/2013 11:00

pp - yes, but it would be nice to see someone other than the Archer girls in tertiary education.

There's Brenda of course - she is surely on the verge of escape to pastures new to escape Lillian, Tom and her niece's bedroom? I want to see her coming back to Ambridge to visit her family once in a while having worked her way up in marketing till finally she is head honcho for a supermarket and the one getting to decide the fate of Tom Archer ready meals and telling him its a shame they're not organic....
