Clearly DS' baths have meant I've missed more than I realised. Last time I heard from these 2 they were at it like rabbits every time I turned the radio on. Now she's moving to Canada? How did that happen?

Pigs are intelligent creatures, they've probably had enough of his whining and 'business studies A-level' speak too... Futureproofing blah.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 10/03/2013 21:04

What? What? Do I have to start listening again?

Tallgiraffe · 10/03/2013 21:19

Shotgun - yes! When did you stop? How much filling in do you need?

No need to put him in the sausages, a herd of pigs can gobble up a body in no time at all. I learnt that from watching Deadwood so it must be true.

SpringHeeledJack · 10/03/2013 21:26

I think Tony should be deaded by Tom's pigs actually

the whiny old get

no wonder Tom and Helen are awful

hanahsaunt · 10/03/2013 22:31

Clearly Brenda has to let the pigs loose though to enable the mass female emancipation that will truly shake Ambridge to the core.

May I point out that the lovely, sensible Pat would be utterly heartbroken at having another son die in agricultural circumstances? Not mention the risk of Helen sinking in to anorexia again - and you know how much fun that was to listen to last time! No, sorry but Tom must live. Just not with Brenda.

I thought tonight was really dreary. I do not care what happened to the Brookfield Sunday lunch!

I know they can't pay all of the actors all of the time but we could at least have a reference to Alice's siblings wondering how her squashed husband is getting on.

My obstetrical history matches Kate btw. Dd1 and Phoebe, dd2 was born a few days after Nolly and when Kate announced she was up duffed with Sipho around the time I was expecting dd3 I really started to get a complex about it!. If she gets pg again I will be very nervous.....

IntrepidFox · 10/03/2013 23:04

NL - I shared my pregnancy with the Cheese Queen. I win.

seeker · 10/03/2013 23:05

It's all very weird. Where is the saintly Adam?
NL - don't forget that for some reason, mumsnet hates Pat - I have no idea why.

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2013 23:07

I LOVE Pat. Does anybody remember how fab she was with Kathy when poor Kathy was raped by the chef?

RussiansOnTheSpree · 10/03/2013 23:41

I dislike Pat intensely. I remember how vile she was to Hayley. If it wasn't for Hayley they wouldn't have any pigs. And then they treated her like shit.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 10/03/2013 23:42

Also Pat was very boring when there was all that business with Helen's clicky hips.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 10/03/2013 23:43

And she was mean to Clarrieluv.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 10/03/2013 23:43

She can bog off, basically.

NorthernLurker · 11/03/2013 00:06

Mean to Clarrie? Hang on, Clarrie's poor hand hygiene wrecked her business and nearly killed a child. Given that Pat didn't actually turn Clarrie in to yoghurt I think she was very understanding.

Grockle · 11/03/2013 00:12

Ooo, an Archers thread. How have I missed this? I love going to bed on a Sunday night & listening to the omnibus.

I'm finding all the bickering - Tom & Brenda, Chris & Alice and the situation with Emma et al really dull.

Grockle · 11/03/2013 01:07

Ok, now I've caught up on this week's happenings, it's a bit less dull. Chris won't survive will he? And Alice will be tormented forevermore.

MarjorieAntrobus · 11/03/2013 06:03

If I hang around here, can I stay up to date please?

My initial exposure was in the sixties, when I would listen daily (my DM would be quiet for Listen with Mother and we (DSis and me) would be quiet for the Archers). It was a deal. And then on and on for years afterwards.

Anyway, I am a contemporary of Shulas's. Married the same day. I started taking notice of the programme in the early seventies. It was going on in the background before that though, as I just said.

I find the current stories confusing, mostly because I live abroad and don't get round to checking in too often. I could do, and should do, but it isn't the same as just turning on R4 at 7pm.

Terpsichore · 11/03/2013 07:44

A herd of angry fluffy kittens could eat Tom as far as I'm concerned - I don't care who does the job as long as they get rid of him somehow Grin

He's probably my most loathed character at the moment (with the weirdly-voiced Pip a close second).

RussiansOnTheSpree · 11/03/2013 07:51

Northern she's been mean to Clarrie for 40 years. :(

ppeatfruit · 11/03/2013 08:04

Blimey you lot I go off to do a bit of recycling and watch a larger screen Grin and you've posted a bleedin' novel !! I thought TA was going out of favour Grin!!

HumphreyCobbler · 11/03/2013 09:25

It was Helen that was really mean to Hayley over the pig business though. Pat and Tony went along with it.

I have never forgiven Helen for how vile she was.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 11/03/2013 09:55

Humphrey - it was all of them. You can't just blame Helen and not Pat and Tony. They are all grasping vile eviltons. After all, Helen didn't benefit from Hayley working for free - as soon as she came home (eventually) she stopped Hayley from working with the pigs (for free) Pat and Tony used Hayley as a slave for months and never turned a hair.

I don't think there are any nice Archers, actually. David is the best of a bad bunch but he's a badger murderer.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/03/2013 10:04

I do blame all of them - but I blame Helen the most Wink Didn't Helen specifically stop Hayley working with the pigs in order to prevent her from making any money from them? That was my rather cloudy recollection.

pmsl at grasping bile eviltons. How true!
