ok realise that I sound like a complete cliche and am now talking to myself [wishes they had a decorating section for cliched people]. it is in the country and is an old wreck if that makes it any better?

I love shabby chic/ vintage French countryside style house interiors but our home tends to look like a bomb has gone off due to our toddler.

MrsBun · 01/06/2010 07:30

Oh yes, i have one of those too - have dreams of whiling away time in vintage shops by MYSELF!

I love www.locationworks.co.uk

They are real houses available for films/photo shoots. You can search their library by room and style genre. I have spent hours on there.

TiggyR · 01/06/2010 07:34

Sorry, www.locationworks.co.uk

I have wistful thoughts of tidiness and gentility, afternoon tea from a proper cup and a chez longue.

Dunelm Mill have an identical Cath oilcloth polka dot material but for a fraction of the cost and I have just repainted the kitcken chairs then recovered them. Am ridiculously pleased with them.

MrsBun · 01/06/2010 07:41

thanks tiggy - good idea - have been browsing hamptons a kF too!

www.gapphotos.com is a great one too, though it's mostly gardens and plants, it has a bit of lovely lifestyle porn.

Found a lovely photo blog of a swedish cottage once, trying to trawl my favourites and find it for you...

TiggyR · 01/06/2010 07:48

FFS, did it again.

A lovely blog plus check out the other sites she links to. OK, she's in Australia, but you're after inspiration, not actual stuff to buy, yes?

MrsBun · 01/06/2010 07:57

Yes jackie - inspiration! Will have a look thanks

We live in a 250 stone cottage and I have completly bought into the shabby chic thing.

I have had lots of some stuff from the Cath Kidston site, her crocks are actually really reasonable. And we are due a new cooker so I am having a cream Leisure one which looks like an aga, but is normal size (sad I know).

We went to a vintage vehicle rally at the weekend snd I bought an old railway enamel sign, it's pale blue and says "waiting room". I've hung it over the kitchen into living room door. It looks wicked.

You could try BHS, (although I've not been in recently). Sorry, I'm not much practical help, but glad to see I'm not alone in my obsession.

pantaloons · 01/06/2010 07:59

ooops 250 year old cottage, got over excited!

MrsBun · 01/06/2010 08:02

"waiting room" made me laugh - I always get delayed when cooking

pantaloons · 01/06/2010 08:10

me too, MrsBun, although when my fil came in he said "hmm waiting for God?" and I was a bit, erm no... never mind. At least one person has got it though! Thanks you.

pantaloons · 01/06/2010 08:11

Oh I like Berry Red, forgot about that.

I must get some coffee to see if it improves my typing.
