Curse you, Lauriefairycake. Am now in love with a Cole & Son Charlie Wilson design called Conway that costs not £40, but £50 a roll! Maybe if I stop at the bottom of the stairs I can afford it...

Lauriefairycake · 01/06/2010 17:46

Could you just do one side of the hallway? or have mdf and a nice edging painted eggshell up to dado height (practical and washable) with the wallpaper on the top half?

Liking the Conway

LadyWellian · 01/06/2010 17:52

I was actually thinking of papering the bottom half up to the dado, as it's not as high as the distance from the top of the dado to the ceiling! Would have to be very careful with bicycles, though...

DH would love panelling. Think hall is probably too narrow to carry it off, though.

Lauriefairycake · 01/06/2010 17:58

You could have panelling white though and it would make it nice and bright. 'Jali' goes lovely mdf panels that you can paint.

I think the recommendation if you paper in a high traffic area is to varnish it with clear varnish after as it preserves it - check that though, I may be wrong.

Oooh gatecrashing sorry but this has made me come over all excited...

How would you do panelling in the hall if not there already? (new to this all emotion)

I am very excited to finally have a proper hallway with stairs, loving the half panel/half paper idea.

MrsBun · 03/06/2010 05:54

no - is fine ignore my requests!! ha ha - the more the merrier - we are pannelling too so thats lucky!

Actually caz10 do you have a 2 year old - think i may have joined the same anti natal group as you (wasn't very committed emotion)

To answer your question caz you could just do a dado rail (if you dont have one already) and then stick on white wooden frames below. That would be the cheapest/simplist fastest!

So you just buy the panelling and stick it all on?

Yes DD was a Dec baby, 2.5 now!!! (and the main reason I prob won't get round to sticking on any panelling! )

Did you have a boy or a girl?

MrsBun · 04/06/2010 08:23

A girl - dec baby too. yes, i think the paneling is quite easy - that link below has how to videos i think - the others should be able to help thoogh.

Milk and Honey home is quite a good blog, she's an American interior designer who does shabby/vintagey with a bit of a scandinavian edge.

figcake · 23/03/2011 21:16

Have you considered designing your own wallpaper and having it professionally printed - just trying to remember which company provides this service.
