Wimbledon Village or

Salisbury or

Fowey - but having my MIL round the corner would be a problem, so I would wear a disguise or

one of the villages around Truro

lalalonglegs · 13/03/2009 17:49

Mintyy - it is very nice but apparently prices have only dropped £10k since the start of the recession on Woodwarde Road .

Mintyy · 13/03/2009 17:59

Lol yes! I meant to say its about £125,000 overpriced.

Mintyy · 13/03/2009 18:35

but this one is even sillier

lalalonglegs · 13/03/2009 18:52

By coincidence my aunt lived on both those streets...

SuperBunny · 14/03/2009 02:46

I did say England in my OP because that is where I would be able to settle, not anywhere else. I don't have a problem with the other countries! This is all Pie in the Sky anyway, so it matters not. Lots of lovely places suggested, thanks!

I really love Pembrokeshire so there. I think Cheltenham and the surrounds are quite lovely too.

bluebump · 14/03/2009 12:04

I went to Uni in Cheltenham saggyhairyarse and I really liked it there, the only thing it lacked was water - no sea or river and coming fron Devon I missed that.

ElenorRigby · 14/03/2009 12:10

Cornwall or the Western Isles, I'm a celt at heart.

I used to live in bloomsbury a lovely area, Im near st james park/parliment now and it's very nice, near to shops and I'm down a quiet street and not too close to the tourists. Downsides is there aren't any soft play type places nearby so we have to venture out to the suburbs to go. Also would love a garden.
dp comes from a village in somerset bordering dorset and it is wonderful, so peacful and lovely scenery.

cazzybabs · 14/03/2009 13:01

Lake district

or some scottish small town

Cloudspotter · 14/03/2009 17:57

Oooh, Petersham, down by the Thames meadow, in a little period cottage with lots of character. Walking distance from Petersham Nurseries and Ham House.

It has a villagey feel but also a London feel. Somehow.

Littlefish · 14/03/2009 18:46

I agree with saggyhairyarse and bluebump. Cheltenham is lovely. I lived there for 6 years while at Uni.

solowitch · 15/03/2009 00:21

Twinsetandpearls, that is lovely. You are very lucky me thinks!

hatwoman · 15/03/2009 00:29

I'm with tap. except I'm not. she's in Dorset and I'm in the Peak District. but I could have written her post. I feel something gut wrenching and heart tugging when I look outside my door. I feel so peaceful everytime I walk the dog. I feel so happy when a stranger stops to chat to me. I love love love it here. and I need to work on dh because we moved here "temporarily" 2 months ago and I want to stay. really really want to stay. far more than I ever imagined.

Desiderata · 15/03/2009 00:32

If only we could all realize how beautiful this country is.

gomez · 15/03/2009 00:38

Why would I want to live in England?

sb6699 · 15/03/2009 00:49

I live on the Herts/Essex border. Tis lovely. We live semi-rural so have views of the countryside but am only 15 minutes drive away from the nearest town. Schools are great here too.

Can be awful in the winter though (car getting stuck in the mud, wind howling round the house) so would move back to Glasgow from October to March cos I love it there and miss "home".

sb6699 · 15/03/2009 00:50

If the thread title had read anywhere in the UK would have to go for Balmaha in Scotland with views over Loch Lomond - bliss!

Haven't been anywhere that would even come close to that.

Hatwoman, I went to look at your pictures and they are gone. can we see please?

ABetaDad · 15/03/2009 11:50

kickassangel - we would like to live in York near to the Minster so we can walk everywhere. We are aiming to move there in a few years time to live for senior school. Interesting that you feel you have seen/done everything - maybe not as good an idea as it seems? .

My wife is from newcastle and we love London too so being on the East Coast route is good for us.

schneebly · 15/03/2009 11:56

I would live where I am now. A very nice seaside town in the North West.

I moved here from 'rural idyll' on the west coast on Scotland and it was the best thing we ever did.

I would buy a big house with a view if I could though

hatwoman · 15/03/2009 11:59

solowitch - there aren't any on my profile. I think I once linked to some on google images. let me see what I can find.
