Anybody in Warwick or Leamington Spa

We are in Rugby but having no joy housewise here, we are thinking of looking around to Warwick and Leamington Spa too. Anybody from there with any pointers? (We're after a 3-4 bed detached).

It's expensive !
There are some lovely villages around Stratford I would look at too.

moodlumhohohoodlum · 08/12/2008 19:13

OOhh hello goldenpeach - I'm in Rugby too!

But not thinking of moving at the moment. The house market round here has fallen off a cliff.

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 19:15

There are lots of nice villages around warwickshire, why warwick and leamington, do you want a town? if you are in a good position there are some real bargains

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 19:15

lol at moodlum...

LoveMyGirls · 08/12/2008 19:16

I've heard Nuneaton is lovely and houses are cheap too

KatieDD · 08/12/2008 19:17

Nuneaton is not warwick/leamington at all, ver different hence cheap.

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 19:18

nuneaton is not very nice, thats why houses are cheap lol

moodlumhohohoodlum · 08/12/2008 19:20

Whereas I've heard that nuneaton that nuneaton is less than nice, so its all in the experience I suppose!

moodlumhohohoodlum · 08/12/2008 19:20

I don't have a stutter, but I have had a g&t, hence the repetition!

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 19:23

lol
Nuneaton is less than nice....is about right, altough I am sure there are god in all places, but I would avoid Nuneaton if at all possible, I used to cover families in the whole of warwickshire in my last job and would never want to live in nuneaton, and I live in Coventry so thats saying something lol

LoveMyGirls · 08/12/2008 19:27

I was being sarcastic, I live here and i think it's ok tbh better than coventry whoever invented the ring roads needs shooting......

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 19:40

lol true, I did move away fro 7 years but came back after realisinge it ain't actually that bad. I am sorry if offfended but Nuneaton is not the best, over 70% of our referrals were fomr nuneaton and thats out of the whole warks county! But as I said, there is good in all

LoveMyGirls · 08/12/2008 19:47

I wouldn't mind going shopping in coventry especially before they brought more shops to Nuneaton but didn't quite have the bottle to drive there and thought the risk of killing us all for the sake of shopping would be going a bit far!

I'm not offended at all although I really don't think it's a bad place to live.

moodlumhohohoodlum · 08/12/2008 19:49

I've lived up here for 3 years, and the ring road in Cov terrifies me. Especially 'suicide island' which is the ginormous roundabout by the airport, which on a good day is treacherous and on a bad day, lives up to its name.

I've had several experiences of just driving round and round too scared to try and pull off. And don't get me started on trying to get to Ikea.

LoveMyGirls · 08/12/2008 19:52

I once went to B&Q total mistake, was terrifying and to top it all dd2 wet herself on the way home! I vowed NEVER again!

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 19:54

lol, I guess you get used to it. It literally is a ring and you get off or on when you see te sign for where you are headed. Its not that bad but prob frighteneing if you are from a smaller place,I find nuneaton centre a bit of a challenge its all one way and goes round and round, very easy to get lost and end up in the likes of erm...lets just sya not very nice estates. But there are some nice parts Suicide island is a nightmare, thats more scary than the ring road lol
I guess I just like that in Coventry, it is kind of big enough to avoid the bad parts, you dont really have to go anywhere near the bad areas, your kids wont go to school there etc, you dont get that in smaller places

moodlumhohohoodlum · 08/12/2008 19:55

LOL LMG, when I first moved to Rugby I tried to go to B&Q in Binley Woods and ended up on the Solihull one way system.

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 20:04

oh my goodness, how did you manage that!?! pmsl
I am hoping to maybe to move out to wolston or stretton on dunsmore after finish my training...or wales lol!

sep1712 · 08/12/2008 20:22

I'm in Southam, which is a small market town between Leamington, Rugby, Banbury, Daventry and coventry. Not to far from Stretton. The housing market is really slow here aswell and pricey. We have had our house on the market for three months now.
A great area to live, small enough to be cosy, large enough to be convinent. We love it!!
The ring roads not to bad as long as you know where your going!! Ikea can be hard to find though!!
Can say i'm not to taken with nuneaton or coventry (i can say that i was born there).
A big hello to all the locals.

Jojay · 08/12/2008 20:29

Oooooh - I might know you sep1712!! I'm in Napton.

I agree, Southam is nice, and so is Napton!! (and other surrounding villages)

Coventry ringroad is an aquired taste, but it's strangely efficient once you get the hang of it...........

chocolatemummy · 08/12/2008 20:37

I love Long Itchington and Napton, looked at a little house there but it was TOO little, I have just given up work and become a full time student nurse so not moving anywhere for a while........can just about afford where we are.
My parents live in Stoneleigh but thats far too pricey and there is just nothing there.
Nice to know there a few local on here

sep1712 · 08/12/2008 20:38

oooooh jojay give us a clue!!!!

sep1712 · 08/12/2008 20:40

I'm selling to more to Long Itchington, how bazzar.

Jojay · 08/12/2008 20:40

Ummmm, 2 ds's, one 2, one 6 wks. And you?? Can't think of anyone I know with their house on the market though...

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 08/12/2008 20:43

You are all being wimps about the ringroad I first drove on it at the age of 17 and I am still alive. The trick is, deep breath, eyes shut, foot down. (that's what most of the teenagers seem to do anyway) It works better if you have a fag in one hand and a moby in the other apparently.

Lots of local people here, "hello".
