ok its a pretty open brief but i am getting fed up living in a small house that seems to cost a lot. Will we get anything more for our money or is just as expensive that near to london?

Make sure you look at houses up to 550/600K - there are deals to be done. I have any eye on a house in Surrey. Started at 630K, then 550K, now 525K.

wow there are some amazing houses! thank you very much. I had no idea we would have choices both nearer than i thought and with such beautiful houses. oerr we might have to have a conversation tonight. that wiltshire one - the first one, is incredible. I can see myself in that garden picking fruit for my homemade jam. I wonder if they have costas in chippenham?

My friend's husband works in canary warf and they live in north hampshire. Hartley whitney I think its called. we went to their DS's Christening there, beautiful village with duckpond and green. Think the school is good too. Think its near fleet.

My exBF lived in St albans and I found it very narrow-minded but at the same time full of chavvy (hate the word but can't think of another) teenagers. It really is Daily Mail heaven. As long as you're white, MC and hetrosexual you'll be fine.

I think you need to have very very good childcare arrangements if you are going to be a 50-75 min train journey from London. Becasue:
a) including getting to/from the station at each end can add another 30 mns easily.
b) my firend who commuted form Brighton said it was fine provided no problems with the train but the was a delay at least once a fortnight and when there is , you have no alternaitve transport. Can;t switch to a different tube line/bus/train, can;t get a cab as its too far.

Unless you have live in help, with both of you working I would htink somewhere within the M25 is more practical.

You could get a three/four bed detached house where we live (lovely part of SW London - half an hour from Waterloo by train)

Try looking in the Crawley area. Maidenbower & Worth about 10 to 15 mins walk from Three Bridges mainline station which is about 40 mins from London (victoria) (also handy for Gatwick. In that area you could get a really nice 5 or 6 bedroom detached house and there are some good local schools (both private and state) nearby. Handy for airport, London and only about 30 to 40 mins to the beach. Good luck looking!
